Hidden oasis

We had a wonderful time. Very peaceful retreat tucked into scenic nature and surrounded by waterfalls. Kitchen and bathrooms were updated thoughtfully and we greatly appreciated the dog friendly amenities. The hot tub was a killer bonus! Highly recommended for nature lovers who appreciate a quiet and lovely experience.

Beautiful scenic views from porch, but a ton of spiders inside House and outside house

Beautiful property to stay at, nice location, not happy about all of the spiders that were all over the beds and hanging from the ceilings coming down at night and jumping out running across the floors when you’re trying to get ready for bed couldn’t go in the hot tub at night, cause it was loaded with spiders all around the hot tub given when you cleared them off of the room, they came right back, definite problem.

Rustic home on Seneca Lake

Nice views and lots of space for a large group to enjoy time at the lake. Many beds to choose from on two different levels and modern appliances. The interior of the cottage is rustic but clean and feels like your stepping back in time.

I stayed here with two girlfriends for a weekend trip. We had such a blast and the house was way bigger than we expected! Three separate porches to hang out on, 3 bedrooms upstairs, 1 bedroom downstairs with an additional living room that can function as a 5th bedroom because of the trundle daybed. Multiple families could stay here and have plenty of space. The kitchen had everything we needed and there were tons of extra blankets. We had one issue where we couldn't locate a hairdryer, and someone brought us one right away. I was a bit nervous about the reviews mentioning spiders, but we literally saw one and it was in a sink - totally normal for a lake house. My only minor issue was the road/driveway leading to the property - my car is a bit low profile and would scrape when going from the road leading up to the driveway pointing down (a bit of a blind move and made me anxious each time!). But the whole thing felt like an adventure and it was awesome!

Wonderful lakeside getaway.

We were greeted by a cascading waterfall just outside the door! The wraparound porches and cozy tucked away nooks offered perfect places to talk, play a little music, read, nap, and enjoy the dazzling lake view. The quaint old fashioned decor spoke of a long history of happy family times. Modern conveniences including a jacuzzi kept us comfortable and relaxed.

Dont rent this house

House is filthy and full of pests. Spiders and silverfish in the sinks and cabinets. Cobwebs everywhere. Our kids were scared to sleep in their bedrooms due to the number of bugs and spiders. My wife spent the first night knocking all the spiderwebs down on the front porch. Enormous hornet next on the front gable. I contacted the property manager and asked them to call me but never heard from anyone other than text messages back and forth. Other than that the location is great and it has a view.

An ideal lakehouse experience

Belle's Buttercup is a charming lakehouse with all of the amenities of home. The rooms had a lot of character, bordering on spooky, but fun! (This place should probably be on Atlas Obscura.) It has a lived in feel that I appreciate when it comes to cooking, relaxing, and enjoying time with friends and family. There is ample space and a variety of areas to gather or enjoy time alone. The balconies with table and seating were a favorite! The space on the lake was nicely arranged for campfires, stargazing, swimming and row-boating. In response to some of the other reviews. At the time of our visit, all water was clean and functional; there was also a water cooler for drinking water. There were a few bugs, minimal, but in my opinion that comes with staying in a lakeside, wooded property. The only thing I would recommend is clearing the spiderwebs, and having better cleaning implements for guests to use while visiting. There was ample signage for use of the amenities in the house but they could be clearer (namely for the hot tub and stove).

Property managers fell short

How to turn off is perfectly pleasant and the description is quite accurate although not complete. Our problem started on the first day when we had an electrical failure which was more than just resetting a breaker in the breaker box. We also found that the doors would not lock. We immediately contacted the property manager who sent someone out to confirm what we said and they agreed that this was serious and would be addressed immediately. Sadly nothing else was done we spent the whole trip without power in our kitchen , also worrying that the electrical failure could become more serious and even potentially start a fire. We spent our entire time there with no way to secure the building when we went out. These failures in basic safety and security overshadowed the quality of the house and the area. Basics are important! VRBO and Vacasa we want an apology!

Beautiful location, but overpriced

The cottage is just that - a cottage. Nothing fancy, a throw back to a simpler time. After owning an old cottage on a lake we thought we knew what to expect. While the location and views from the porch are lovely, the amenities leave a lot to be desired. I would have a hard time recommending Belle’s Buttercup to anyone else and feel we paid way more than we should have.

Beautiful cabin with so much space

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. This cabin has everything, multiple rooms, view and access to lake Seneca, and accessible to many wineries. I wish we spent more time at the cabin to enjoy it to the fullest. We would highly recommend this location to our friends and family.

Beautiful spot, poor bathrooms

Great spot, nice old cottage but the bathrooms could use some work. Doors that work properly would be a nice addition. There were many other minor issues with either AC units, noisy dehumidifiers, rock hard king bed.. it was still a nice get away but we won’t be back to this one.

Buttercup house on the lake

Rustic home on Lake Seneca. Was just wife and I but plenty of room for larger families or groups. Close to all the vineyards. In warmer months the house has its own boats/kayaks that can be used. Nice hot tub to relax in at the end of the day with great view of the lake!

Nice Cozy Place

Nice place on the lake, very quiet and private, everything is included in the rental, nothing really to bring (except keurig coffee pods) Plenty of room we had a family of 8 including small children. The kitchen was a bit crowded, the furniture the house is on the older side. But overall nice place to rent. We would recommend. Thank you for your hospitality.

A very special location

While I agree that some of the furniture could stand to be replaced with more comfortable furniture, the location is really magical, imo. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and implements for cooking. The majority of the beds were comfortable. What really makes the place special is all of the outdoor seating, the views, and the sense of a long history of enjoyment of the place over many years. I enjoyed the sense of being tucked away there, with little need to worry about any interference with our enjoyment of the location. The hot tub was delightful, as was the fire pit. We didn't use the boats, but it was out of season for them. Overall, I really loved how unique and personal the place was, making it feel like home.

Family gathering

The house was clean with lots of room for everyone. The views of the lake were wonderful and saw several rainbows and one night owl saw the northern lights. Kitchen was a bit crowded and the vacuum didn’t work well enough to clean the rug but was otherwise very comfortable

Quaint and crawly.

Beautiful setting for a summer get away on the lake! House had all the amenities you would need and has an upgraded stove which is not seen in the pictures. The clean could have been better for sure. And maybe keep an eye out for cobwebs inside the home. It’s understandable to have cobwebs on the outside of the house given its setting, but shouldn’t have excessive within the house. Also for future renters be mindful of where you park your car, or maybe bring a cover as there is an oily sap that drips from the trees.
