Dragonfly is an elegant, comfortable one-of-a-kind, 'mountain retreat', off Ski Valley Road, and midway between the town of Taos and Taos Ski Valley. Exquisite ‘top of the hill’ 360 degree views of Taos Mountain and explosive sunsets across the plains. NOTE: We are shifting to 31 days or longer rentals due to a new ordinance that restricts short term rentals in Taos County. This 5250 sqft gated private estate on 5 acres has Southwest ambiance throughout with 3 kiva fireplaces, viga ceilings, copper sconces, nichos, and luxury decor and original art.

Hummingbirds and dragonflies are frequent visitors in the extensive gardens full of local Rocky Mountain wildflowers, roses, lavender and fruit trees. Have your morning coffee in the front garden, or an evening barbeque in the back gardens with the rock waterfall/pond full of water lilies and tiger salamanders. Relax in the magical ATRIUM with orchids, ferns and flowers and surround sound, in the den/MUSIC ROOM. Enjoy the steam room shower in the main master bedroom after a day of hiking or skiing the slopes. Pass to nearby spa/fitness center/pool provided upon request.

The living room with its custom bronze entertainment cabinet, kiva fireplace and wet bar offers relaxing evenings. Dragonfly has a fully-equipped kitchen with professional range-oven, espresso maker, waffle maker and more, and a breakfast bar that opens to a gracious formal dining room with kiva fireplace. Enjoy 4 master bedroom suites (k, q, q +twin, 2 twins), each with unique decor, ensuite bath, walk-in closets...a rare find in Taos. (Extra nomad floor foam mattresses and queen sofa bed available for larger groups). With living, eating, and sleeping areas both upstairs and down, it feels like two houses! Enjoy our pianos, drum set and other instruments. With HI-SPEED FIBER, It’s a great place for work and play!

We typically house 5 to 10, however, we can accommodate more persons with advance notice and preparation. It’s a palace for a couple. Please enquire first for groups more than 10 and disclose total number in your group at the time of your booking. It is also lovely space for writers, composers, screenwriters, and artists.

For winter months AWD or 4WD with clearance is required as snow and ice can be sudden and generous.

Terrific Place for a Family Vacation

The home is exactly as shown in the photos— ts of room for a family of 7 adults. The location is midway between Taos and Taos Ski Valley, which is a real plus and a much better choice than staying at the mountain. I also want to give a shout-out and thanks to the owner, who was very responsive to all questions.

Our Family Vacation

Our family enjoyed our 6 days there immensely and the house is so unique. Everyone had their own space, but it was easy to get together as a family. I would love to come back in warm weather to see the grounds. This was a trip that added many good memories. It did snow and that was special and the skiers sure did enjoy their 4 days on the mountain.

Wonderful retreat

We had a lovely time. Anne was easy to coordinate with and made sure we were well taken care of. The kitchen had everything we could have needed. The space was perfect for all 3 generations from 2-80. Even when there was a problem with the water, Anne made sure it was resolved quickly and even offered to help relocate us.

Incredible Vacation in Taos

This was a perfect property for 2 Families with Kids. Spacious, clean, ample room for everyone to enjoy each other, but also have some space when needed. The outside of the property was as wonderful as the inside. We built snowmen, sled, had snowball fights, etc. We were easily able to access the ski valley for some time on the slopes and also easily made it to downtown Taos and Taos Pueblo. It was an overall wonderful, enchanting experience and we will likely return.

Incredible house with impeccable views

We had such an amazing time at Dragonfly Estate. The house was beautiful, warm, and accommodating. We had everything we needed and plenty of entertainment. The second half of our group stayed an extra day and was snowed in making them unable to leave on the day planned. Anne was extremely attentive and generous to them making sure that they were taken care of until they could leave. What an outstanding host! We felt like family. Thank you so much for you incredible hospitality.

Dragonfly Taos

My wife and I invited three other couples over to Taos for a concert. It was a Thu thru Sun stay. There was plenty of room, and multiple balconies were really beautiful. Each room had its own special charm. The dining area and kitchen were ample for our group, where we played games at the table. The game room was a huge bonus as we battled it out on the ping pong and air hockey tables as music was played on the baby grand. We enjoyed a BBQ in the incredible backyard alongside the small pond area. This was a great place for all of us and we would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful Home

Booked this home for my annual men’s ski trip. Never been to Taos but what a fun mountain. The home and the property were lovely. Some of the beds listed are mattresses placed on the floor but everyone was ok with it. Very close to the ski are and some nearby restaurants (ACEQ was our favorite. Went twice). Kitchen was well stocked. We didn’t cook except one big breakfast. The on demand water heater was great for a group our size. Great star gazing for sure. Would love to come back in the fall to enjoy the grounds more. Really a nice home for a large group and Anne was very helpful before and during our stay. You can’t go wrong with this home.

Highly recommend

We were two families. Lovely house was ideal for us, four bedrooms, each with private bath, extra sofa bed in play room. House lends itself to relaxing at the end of the day or short drives to many nearby eateries. Location also good for hiking on Wheeler, also about 30 minutes to Los Rios River Runners (highly recommend). Piano available for those who enjoy relaxing at the keyboard. Alexa plays whatever else you'd like. Swamp cooler helps control temp downstairs. We have noted "life in the country" water pressure issues everywhere we've stayed in Taos area, this was as usual, but workable. Plan to recommend to friends. Owner was very easily accessible for questions.

Spacious!

There were 4 bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. Perfect for our family of 7! The dining table was so large, it could have held 12 to 16 people. We did a lot of cooking and the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, baking pans, etc. The oven got used to us eventually. There was air hockey and ping pong. 3 or 4 pianos with requests not to use most of them. My grandsons are 3 and 5, so probably too young for this amazing property. We didn't get to use the amazing back yard because it was cold and snowy, but it looked serene and also large enough for a huge picnic!

A Fantastic Experience!

We had a wonderful time at the Dragonfly house! There were nine of us and being that we are all relatives, it was great to have such a spacious and lovely home in which to spread out. Everybody, especially our sons, enjoyed the game room which was complete with ping pong and air hockey. We arrived very late in the evening, which was not recommended, but found the house in the dark and snow. A four wheel drive car or chains are a must during the snowy winter. We loved the Southwest architecture and furnishings of the home and the Kiva fireplaces were delightful. Anne was extremely helpful and patient as she answered our many questions about the house. Communication was great throughout the whole experience. We came for the skiing and the snow, but would love to see how the yard and surroundings look in warm weather too!

A Very 'Taos' Experience

This home is large, beautifully landscaped and very 'Taos' in it's architectural and style. For the price the home was a good value. We had a good experience there with adults and children. Assuming decent weather, the home is well located for a ski vacation. That said, renters should be aware that the property is a good distance off of the pavement. The dirt road was good but susceptible to weather problems. Also, although the home is well maintained, it is a bit dated. So for example, the bath linens are new, but the bed linens need some upgrading. The carpet was well past it's prime and the furniture was well used. Lastly, the manager and cleaning staff were very responsive and friendly. We felt like they cared about our experience and wanted things to be perfect. A pleasant experience overall.

Absolutely gorgeous home with incredible views and outdoor spaces!

We have been renting houses in Taos for years and this was by far everyone's favorite. We had 9 in our group, 3 adults (50+) and 6 (mid twenties.) The older adults stayed in the 2 upstairs bedrooms and our children and friends stayed in the 2 downstairs bedrooms and music room. The upstairs had a beautiful living room with a fireplace and enough furniture to seat all of us. Large tv, simple to operate, we watched sports and played games on the large coffee table. Alexa for music upstairs and down. There are two balconies upstairs that wrap 3/4 of the house with beautiful sunrise and sunset views, always a spot for shade or sun. Most windows have crank out side screens so upstairs there is a lovely cross breeze. There is also a very nice upstairs bar area where we kept extra drinks. We usually go out to dinner on vacation but the dining room and outdoor grilling spaces were so much prettier than any restaurant we ended up cooking at the house most of the time. Dining room has a beautiful handmade table that was large enough to seat all of us, also with a fire place, very cosy. The kitchen had everything we needed, every spice, condiment, utensil, appliance, etc. There is a gorgeous atrium filled with plants and beautiful lighting, flagstone terraces and a waterfall with plenty of seating areas, two grills-one built into an enormous flagstone counter, gorgeous outdoor lighting, an arbor where we sat outside one night and watched a meteor shower. The front yard has huge mature aspen trees and more seating areas, whole property is very private. The kids would hang out in the music room at night which had a full size ping pong table and air hockey table, playing games and we couldn't hear a sound upstairs. Anne sent a great info sheet for the house and local recommendations. Honestly, I was happy to stay at the house and opt out of hiking and fishing excursions because it was so relaxing and perfectly beautiful. The whole house is beautifully designed with so much original art and furniture, there are too many details to list. Thank you Anne!

Magic in the Mountains

This beautiful , spacious, clean, well- appointed home has it all. Our grown family (9 adults & 2 babies) reconnected at Dragonfly Estate , each couple (4) had their own bedroom / bathroom, the kitchen was well-stocked and efficient to prep family meals, the property allowed for both connecting with each other and the beautiful, mountain nature. Close enough to town for all necessary resources, but secluded too. Communication with the owner was excellent.

I grew up in Taos, quite a magical place! Having lived and worked all over the world, I returned and still find it special. I work in healthcare and in my spare time compose music and work in film.

Why they chose this property

This is the most exquisite area of Taos County with incredible views of El Salto, the Valdez Valley, and the plains across to painter Georgia O'Keefe's Pedernal. Here you have privacy and space for magical gardens, and easy access to both town and Taos Ski Valley. Also, you will be sleeping at about 2000 feet lower than the ski valley, making altitude sickness much less likely during your stay.
