The Flip Flop Inn is one of our 2 homes in the Village of Stump Sound. The Flip Flop Inn sits beside the Pearl by the Sea if you need more room (and also on Vrbo). The Flip Flop Inn sits directly on the beach. Toes in the sand in a blink, right off the walkway.

PLEASE be sure to read our policies, and full description. All rates include cleaning and linens.

The FLIP FLOP INN is an amazing beach home. It is in the VILLAGE OF STUMP SOUND on TOPSAIL ISLAND. The FFI is easy to find and a great location to spend time by the water.

NOTE: the Flip Flop Inn is a 7-bdrm in the Village of Stump Sound in North Topsail Beach. Owner operated by: Susan Carey Frank and always happy to answer your questions. Rentals are family friendly and weekly ONLY w/ Checkin/out Sat.-Sat. in warm months w/ some flexibility other times.

Our Community Pool is OPEN during the summer months , typically mid-May through October, pending weather.

The FLIP FLOP INN beach house has everything you could possibly want in a North Carolina beachfront rental: spectacular views of the ocean and the sound, direct beach access, community pool and a tennis court/pickle ball. The kitchen is well-equipped w/ most things you like to have at home. Our beach volleyball court is right outside and shared w/ the Pearl by the Sea (Vrbo 3915993).

You will be spoiled in this 4700 square foot luxurious custom built home. The second floor, the main living area, contains the master suite, great room, dining room and kitchen. Cypress paneling and two-story cathedral ceiling with tall windows make the great room truly spectacular. At the top in the Widow's Watch Tower Room you will enjoy the breath-taking panoramic views of the island, the ocean, the sound, sunsets and sunrises. The house features ceramic tile flooring throughout and a whole house audio and home theater surround sound system.

Property Features:: The outside of the house is as amazing as the inside. The Flip Flop Inn sits Oceanfront, with beach access right out the door by walkway from 1st floor or ramp from the ground level. Beautiful landscaping and ample parking welcome you as you approach the house. A picnic table and 2 built-in charcoal grills make for pleasant outdoor dining. There are six decks/porches totaling over 1650 square feet of outdoor space. Relax on one of these decks and enjoy the glorious views of ocean and sound.

It's easy to rock the day away in one of the many sound side rockers in a beautiful setting, maybe see a boat or two go by on the sound. If you prefer the relaxing roar of the ocean , pick up a few rays in the lounge chairs or take in the sunrise and have your morning latte at the dining table on the oceanside decks. You'll enjoy the audio system throughout the house.

You enter the Flip Flop Inn on the ground floor entryway. It has steps and elevator. The first floor is a bedroom floor w/ 3 king bedrooms and bunkroom. Second floor is the main floor w/ 1 bedroom, kitchen and greatroom. Third floor has 2 queen bedrooms. Fourth floor has a tower w/ views all around and nice sitting area.

The FLIP FLOP INN is in the community of Village of Stump Sound with all single family homes. When you book the Flip Flop Inn, you are booking the entire home. (This is not an "Inn" w/ room rental.)

Family Gathering

This spacious and well equipped ‘ home away from home ‘ provided everything our family was looking for such as immediate proximity to the beach, ample space to congregate, entertain, play games and dine. Too bad we were only able to spend a week!

Large family vacation

We loved staying at the Flip Flop Inn!! Plenty of space and very well stocked!! Our grandkids loved the volleyball and quick access to the beach! Very low key and we all left refreshed and lots of special memories!! Our host, Susan was quick to respond and sent us very detailed information ahead of our arrival which was so helpful!! Our Beach Vacation

The host is very responsive and helpful. The house is in a nice community, very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is amazingly appointed with new appliances. The ice-maker is a nice feature. There is also a nice feature in the backyard that is fun for the whole family. Plenty of shaded outdoor seating on two decks overlooking the ocean, with very nice outdoor furnishings.

Family reunion/Celebration of life

In one word, WOW!! The Flip Flop Inn was the perfect beach house for our Covid-postponed family gathering. It is as spacious and fully equipped as described; the owners have thought of everything and were very helpful answering questions before we arrived. We felt at home from the moment we walked in. Sixteen of us were easily accommodated and we hope to return next year.

Family Fun!

I cannot say enough good things about this experience. We had three families, with 17 people total. We cooked almost every meal at the house and had more than enough of everything you would need to feed a crowd. Complete with TWO full size dining tables. The mini golf course, volleyball net, video game and beach access were more than enough to entertain all ages! We are so thankful for the time we were able to spend together. The host was very communicative and helpful every step of the way.

Family Beach Week

Our annual family beach week with 11 adults, 5 kids and an infant. The house easily accommodated us all - for both sleeping of course but also enough spaces for the kids to game, some adults to work and the fun adults to do fun adult stuff. The house was well appointed - and even had a large dog crate for our golden retriever puppy. The kitchen was superb - everything you would want (2 dishwashers, 2 ovens, an ice maker and 2 fridges on that floor plus another big one on the lower entry level). The beach is beautiful and just a short easy walk, The owner was great to work with and this is a property we would definitely go back to.

Perfect for Family Fun

What a remarkable house and locationl We had enough bedrooms for all of us (19 adults and 3 infants).Linens, beach chairs, boogie boards, toys, volleyball court with balls and badminton equipment conveniently stored under the house. Expertly supplied kitchen and the great room gave us plenty of space to eat, play games, and set up a playpen. Decks had great seating so you could always find a private place to read, talk, eat. The development has a pool that we used regularly. No complaints from anyone. We plan on returning next year. It already feels like home.

Hands down the best equipped house we ever rented. Having 2 of every appliance was perfect. The stand alone ice machine was such a blessing. No trips to the store for ice. Leave your chairs, toys, towels, and baby needs at home. They are already at this house. Susan was such a pleasure to deal with and was so quick with any inquiries. We were lucky enough to have a turtle nest directly in front of the house and we actually got to see them hatch. I will say make sure to walk on the left side of the interior steps. It’s easy to miss a step when making the turn at the bottom when on the right. Great house!

An Oasis of calm and rejuvenation

Very comfortable beds and seating! Loved all of the outdoor seating and private spaces!! Kitchen had everything you could possibly need for all meals! We were ages 2-71 and we all had an amazing week! All I wanted for my birthday was to see dolphins and I did, the only day while we were there!! Great birthday dinner at High Water, educational visit to the Turtle hospital and yummy ice cream near the skating rink!! So much to do at the house too, went to the pool twice, great walks, foosball games! Disappointed we didn’t know how to work arcade, probably operator error!! Beach is amazing and clean!! Thank you for sharing you 5 star home!!!!

Great family time at the Flip Flop Inn

13 adults and 2 kids had a wonderful time at the Flip Flop Inn! Lots of room for the entire family to gather, plus spots for individual private time as well. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to make a great family meal. Huge TV, lots of games for downtime. The volleyball court was a great plus for our athletic family. We’re not big “fishers”, but it is a good place if you like to fish (with cleaning station), but could be overwhelming and intrusive (lots of fishermen) if you’re not. Overall, very nice stay and recommend!

We Love Topsail!

Lovely, perfect in every way!

So much space for everyone, ages 2 months through 62 years! Having 2washers and dryers plus 2 dishwashers made everything so much more convenient. The location is fantastic and the "tower room" was a favorite place to relax.

The Flip Flop Inn was wonderful! We had 16 in total and had plenty of room for all. Our holiday was made more pleasant with the stocked kitchen, multiple appliances and a beautiful ocean front view. Seeing dolphins several times made it even more special. We loved the new deck furniture. Love the higher chairs. Perfect for the best views. And all was comfortable. The hot tub was also a big hit. The bedrooms were all very comfortable. The elevator was a life saver for those who can't do stairs and for transporting luggage, groceries, etc. The owners were so nice. We would definitely recommend Flip Flop Inn to everyone. Thank you for all your help and for being so friendly.

Fantastic beach house. Highly recommended.

My family had the great pleasure to spend a week at the Flip Flop Inn. There were 17 of us, from age 2 to 65. There were plenty of options to keep everyone relaxed and entertained. The beach is just steps away, very convenient in case you forgot anything, or just need a bathroom break or a snack. There also is a community pool which the kids did enjoy a few times. The house itself is just beautiful. I bet it is the biggest in the community. Plenty of space for everybody. And lots of patios, Oceanside and sound side. There also is a fourth floor tower room with 360 degree views. It even has a small outdoor walkway. It really is a stunning feature that few houses in the area seem to have. The kitchen was well appointed, multiple ovens and microwaves. It has all of the pots and pans and such to make anything you wish. Even a milkshake maker! It has a large modern fridge, and a separate ice maker which believe me is very useful. There also is a second fridge in the pantry area, also very useful. These are the kind of things that I didn't realize I should be looking for in a vacation rental, but I am glad the owners did. Speaking of the owners, they were extremely kind, pleasant, and easy to work with. You can tell they really care for their home, and it matters to them that you enjoy your stay. The bedrooms are very nice with comfortable beds. The bathrooms are modern, especially the showers. Additionally, there is an elevator, which is nice for bringing in luggage and groceries. There was plenty of parking. We had 6 cars, I bet we could has fit 2 more without issue. We had several outstanding sunrises and sunsets, a full moon over the ocean , and a sea turtle laid a nest of eggs in the dune right by the house. There are a lot of local restaurants, ice cream shops, and parks. Some in our group went sailboarding, there are surf lessons, and you can watch the kids surfing down by the pier. The beach by the house was active, but never crowded or intrusive. Everything was fantastic, I had high expectations, and they were met or exceeded in every way. **** I very highly recommend this beautiful home. **** (I believe the owners also own the house next door if you have an even larger group. I don't recall the name of that house)

Outstanding home with all the comforts of home

My family goes to the beach every year so we can all get together. (18 of us). This year by far was our best year together. The home is very comfortable, extremely well equipped, located just north of all the hubbub of downtown Surf City yet close to all restaurants. The beach is very typical of NC/SC beaches and has ample beach left at high tide. There is a beach service available that will take down and put up umbrellas daily. No finer folks to deal with than the owners of FlipFlop, Robert and Susan Franks. They truly work hard to make your vacation a memorable one and it definitely was.

Perfection at the Beach

We used Flip Flop Inn for a family reunion and had 6 couples staying there. The house was perfect. Each couple had their own bedroom and bathroom, which was perfect. The main living area was large enough and open enough to allow everyone to gather together and watch TV, read, cook, work on puzzles, or chat. Everyone could do what they wanted while still being a part of the group and interacting with each other. The bedrooms are large and well appointed. The kitchen is so well stocked with dishes, glasses, pots and pans, flatware. There are two dishwashers that made keeping up with 12 hungry people a breeze. The views are wonderful. Each balcony has it's own special view of either the ocean or the waterway. There is a spacious hot tub that got much use. The access to the beach is so close that it takes about a minute to be there. And don't worry about bringing beach chairs, they have plenty. And if you need some away time from the group, the upper floor room is perfect for movie night, reading or taking a nap. We had the opportunity to be at Flip Flop during the eclipse and the balcony off the upper floor loft area was the perfect viewing area. Even with all the rain we had (we did get two great days of sun) it was a wonderful experience for all of us. We had fun hanging out talking and eating and doing a couple of the many puzzles you can find in the house. I can't recommend this place enough! Thank you Bob and Susan for making your beautiful home available.

Best house EVER!

Bob and Susan have thought of everything. This house is amazing and we are having a wonderful time. We don't want to leave! Kitchen is so well stocked that our gourmet cooks have been in heaven. We have four generations here and all can't stop talking about this wonderful vacation. We will definitely be back! Susan has been simply fabulous to work with and has made this the most welcoming of homes.

Amazing house in North Topsail Beach

We rented this property for our family (12 guests ranging from 2 to 69 years of age) and we could not have been happier with our experience. Sue and Bob were available to help, responsive to our questions, and accommodating in every way, from initial email contact through the completion of our stay in their home. They have literally thought of everything in this home. The kitchen is well stocked - everything you need is there, and it's well organized so that you can find what you're looking for easily. We "only" had 12 in our party, but this home would accommodate numbers well into the twenties with the available silverware, plates, bowls, glassware, etc. The views are wonderful - wonderful from almost every room in the home. You can see the ocean right in front of you, and the quiet water and marshland is viewable from the other side of the home. The top floor widow's peak is amazing and a fun place to spend time. Everything in the home is spotlessly clean, and the bedding, furniture, etc are very comfortable and in excellent condition. We had one of our best vacations at the Flip Flop Inn, and we would recommend it without hesitation. Thanks, Susan and Bob, for a wonderful week!

We love the flip flop!

This is our second time staying at the Flip Flop Inn. We really love this house. The primary disadvantage is the walk around the other property to the beach, but it was worth it to have the large bedrooms, the great views, the personal touches that this home has. We all feel like this is the house that we would buy and decorate if we had our own beach home. There's plenty of parking, the house is well maintained, there are more than enough diversions (tv, video games, toys, books, beach accessories) and we had a great time.

We are Robert (Bob) and Susan Frank and live in Wake Forest, NC after 30+ years of living in Raleigh, NC. Our family built our 7-bedroom, "Flip Flop Inn" and purchased the (5 bedroom) "Pearl by the Sea" a few years ago and right next door. The Flip Flop Inn has a volleyball court in the backyard that is shared w/ the Pearl. Both are amazing homes and great for large or small groups.

We purchased the property in the 90's and eventually decided to build. The Flip Flop Inn is the most amazing beach home and built w/ love, so quite different than your typical rental home.
