Wonderful people. They have stayed with us before. They are great to work with!!
House was clean and well stocked. We loved having virtually no neighbors around. Beautiful desert scenery. Very close to Portal, AZ and access to tons of hiking and some easy off-roading adventures. We will definitely return to this area!
Everything is thought out and taken care of in this Rodeo house . Quiet and away from all the noise , it is truly paradise . The stars are incredible! There is no light pollution so you can really see billions !!!
Peter is very good with communication . Thanks so much Peter for an excellent experience!
We enjoyed our stay and found the house had everything we needed! The house had a nice southwest feel, was spacious and comfortable. The property was unique and very private. The Mountain View’s were great and the big, starry sky amazing! We were very excited to see the Milky Way!! It was a short and beautiful drive to our hiking destination of Cave Creek! Great property and responsive owner. Thank you!

We were not sure what to expect way out in the middle of nowhere - but this place did not disappoint in the least. It was large, comfortable, clean and well appointed. The night sky out there cannot be compared - it was awesome! Communication with Peter was quick and easy - although he forgot to confirm the listing at first and it kept saying it was available and unbooked - he took care of it ASAP. We are birders and can highly recommend this place as close to the great area of Portal and Cave Creek Canyon with everything one could need. There needs to be more places like this in this remote area that contains some of the best birding in Arizona. A great perk was the reasonable pricing with no ridiculous overcharges. Thank you!

I wouldn't recommend this property. The pre -fab home is located in a quiet spot next to an impressive landing strip. The house is located adjacent what appears to be a former RV Park. The House itself was very dusty. The appliances look to be about 30 years old and the stove was very poor condition. Finding a place on short notice in this area appears difficult as there are very few options. I would recommend staying somewhere like Willcox, Lordsburg or Douglas and driving in, as opposed to staying in the Rodeo area, unless your trip is for star gazing.

We dusted the house the same day you came as we had severe dust storms the night and day before as several people were killed from them. It is usually not as windy as this Spring has been. The appliances are actually 15 years old and in great condition. It would probably be better the next time you come for you to stay at the Motel 6 in Lordsburg where they have no appliances, no living room or dining room, and lots of bed bugs.
The house was comfortable, however we had some maintenance issues. Garbage disposal did not work and kitchen sink kept stopping up. Property was a little hard to find. Unfortunately for me a lot if mosquitoes in the property, so sitting outside was impossible.

We are sorry you had a problem with the sink, as no other reports by previous customers were made so we were not aware of it. I am surprised you had mosquito problems as this house sits away from any brush and in a clearing but there is not much we can do about nature.
The skies were incredible—so dark you could barely see your hand in front of your face. Outside, the only real issue was thorns constantly sticking in our shoes and the dog’s paws. There’s a nice café about five minutes away with good lunch options and a small store attached. For full groceries, though, you’ll need to drive to Lordsburg or Willcox—both 45 to 90 minutes away. It’s about a 30-minute drive to the Cave Creek Visitor Center and some great hiking trails we went to in Chiricahua. The house was clean but dated and in need of maintenance. The refrigerator leaked behind it, causing water to soak the rug in front of the sink. One of our group had allergy issues, likely due to mold near the leak. The main toilet ran constantly, and the hot water lasted only a few minutes—either scalding or cold, with no middle ground. The house seems unused for long stretches; when we first turned on a faucet, a few spiders came out before the water. It also rained our last day, and the power was out for six to eight hours.Despite the maintenance issues, we really enjoyed our stay. The skies were breathtaking, the area was peaceful and remote, and the best moments were spent sitting behind the house at dusk, surrounded by silence and open sky.
Since most of the properties that cater to birders do not allow dogs, we were having difficulty finding a place to stay near Portal. This property allowed our dog and was within striking distance of Portal and Cave Creek. Depite the two days of extreme weather in AZ and NM, we were still able to get in some hikes and see some birds.
The property itself is austere. Lodging is in a mobile home. The appointments are comfortable and clean and has 4 bedrooms and two baths. There are kitchen utensils, for 6 people. Bring a can opener and a decent wine bottle opener if needed. Internet was spotty the entire time.
The property manager is very nice and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay despite the weather and were happy to find a place close in that allowed us to spend New Year's weekend with our furry friend!

Thank you for the review, there is just one correction. The Home is a Manufactured Home, not a Mobile Home. It sits on a concrete foundation with a crawl space and does not have wheels under it like a mobile home would have. Also, it is twice the width that a Mobile home would be. The Internet service in the entire area as well as the Cell service is not the greatest, especially when there are 30-40 mph winds and driving rain but being in high desert surrounded by Mountains it is something we have to sacrifice to live here.
We had a wonderful stay at the place. We were able to explore the NM bootheel and come back in the evening to a very comfortable, equipped, spacious house. The check in process is very simple, the location is perfect as it's a long distance from any neighbors. The views are stunning.
I have stayed in several different rentals around southwest NM and this is by far the the best one.
The home is spacious and has comfortable beds. The kitchen was well equipped. We also liked the bright colors and art on the walls.
We left a couple of items behind and Peter sent them to us promptly.
Take precautions against mice getting into your vehicle. Take all food indoors. Open hood. Locals might know some other do's and don'ts
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was great, the night sky was amazing, and we loved exploring Portal, during the day.
We'll be back for sure!
There are a couple of drawers that need to be repaired (one in kitchen and one in master bath).
Everything went smoothly with this rental. Peter was very helpful when the internet was unavailable, he got a repair done while we were there. Nice property and very out-of-the-way. Pricing structure is a little confusing (1,2,3 or 4 bedrooms) but we got that figured out.
The property exceeded our expectations. The photos from Nov 2021 do not do it justice. The neighbors are far away and the complex was deserted with only us in the 1 house. It was very roomy, nice kitchen, comfortable beds, warm, and everything fresh and modern. Easy to find and close to Cave Creek Canyon. Nice flat area behind the house to lie out and do star gazing. Would definitely stay here again. The owner was nearby and very responsive to the few questions I sent.
We had clear skies and were able to see the stars very clearly. The hiking in the area was amazing! Clean rental with everything we needed and easy access to host.
