Lovely big, comfortable house for 7 of us plus 3 dogs. Beautiful area, used the local pubs and activities round and about. Very close to Matlock from where we went kayaking down the Derwent.
Plenty of room for the family to either socialise or have their own space. Huge well equipped kitchen with just about everything you might need! Ideal location away from the road but not so remote you cant walk to civilisation. Local pub, The Gate, did lovely food and super friendly service and just a short walk away.
Not that easy to spot the sign for the lane as you drive on the main road, i recommend having a peek on google street view to give you an idea what to look out for!
Little tip - the en suite bath takes an age to fill as the pressure is low and wasnt very hot first night, but little tweak of the boiler temp and it was a lovely big bath.
Garden not as enclosed for the dog as i thought as she could get down the side to the back garden and orchard with fairly low walls in places but we kept an eye on her and she was fine. Bit annoying a neighbours dog would come into the garden as ours is nervous, plus i didnt appreciate cleaning up someone elses poop! However he wasnt unfriendly and another neighbour took it back to its home so was only really an inconvenience really.
Bed was lovely and squishy... heaven after a day of walking!
Overall really enjoyed our stay and would recommend booking!
Had a fantastic long weekend at Orchard cottage. Spacious accommodation for 8 people, with a big table for family meals and a good size lounge. Extra seating area in the kitchen which is great for socialising when someone is preparing food.
The beds are all comfortable and the house was spotlessy clean and really warm.
There's a garden on 3 sides, which was great for our dogs and there's plenty of really good walks close by.
The only tiny details we struggled with were: no sharp knife, and we could have done with more information on where to put the recycling and how to alter the heating.
Otherwise an absolutely brilliant stay, and we all agreed we'd love to go back.
This is a beautiful spacious property which was great for a two families sharing. Location is quiet with great views but still close enough to amenities and plenty of things to do in the area.
