About this property
Ranmoor- beautiful character cottage with walled garden and gorgeous views.<br>
Ranmoor is a beautifully restored part cottage/8part Victorian villa situated within the designated conservation area of Matlock Bath and a five minute walk to the shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes within the centre of Matlock Bath.
The cottage has a privileged position, commanding views over the river Derwent and the valley towards Matlock.
Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms which sleep up to 6.
A good sized master bedroom, with a gorgeous antique king size French bed and armoire. A further double bedroom with a beautiful French antique bed and a third bedroom with a bunk bed which are full size single beds however it is recommended only small adults sleep on the top bunk. All of the bedrooms can accommodate a travel cot.
The contemporary bathroom has a lovely freestanding bath with freestanding taps and shower.
There is a further shower room with a toilet.
Ranmoor’s kitchen features a gorgeous original chequered quarry tiled floor. It is fully equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine and microwave.
The lounge has a sumptuous chesterfield sofa and a 43” Smart TV with Freesat.
There are beautiful views across the valley and river from this room and the master bedroom.
The house has full gas central heating and wireless internet. Fuel, power and bed linen are included in the rental rates. 1 high chair, 1 travel cot (not bedding) and a baby monitor are included. Books, toys and a selection of DVDs are provided for guests use.
Outside there is a beautiful, sunny walled cottage garden with multiple seating areas, including a separate courtyard outside with a table and seating for 6. A barbecue is also provided. There are a few steps to the property, therefore unfortunately it is not suitable for guests requiring wheelchair access or with mobility problems. The steps do have handrails to assist. The cottage is situated on a hill, therefore there is a 5 minute fairly steep walk from the town. There is on road parking for vehicles outside the property however this is on a first come first served basis. There is a council owned car park approximately a 5 minute walk away.
There is a secure brick bicycle store available for guests to use in the garden close to the property on request.
There are beautiful walks and bike rides from the front door of the cottage.
Bed linen is provided.
We ask guests to bring their own bring towels. If this is difficult due to travel by train or air please get in touch. Hand towels and tea towels are provided.
One well behaved furry friend over 12 months old is welcome. We kindly ask that dogs are not allowed on the furniture.
The area
Matlock Bath is a unique village with something for everyone including stunning scenery, beautiful walks and cycle rides, rowing boats, cable cars, canoeing, rock climbing, caves, a theme park, a mine and museum plus a great mix of pubs, take aways, restaurants and cafes.
Matlock Bath is a small spa town in the Peak District, fortunately prohibited in growth by the steeply wooded limestone cliffs forged by the River Derwent. Thermal springs discovered in the late 17th century led to the growth of the village as a health resort. These days the town attracts many visitors but probably most famously to its dramatic cable car ride which spans the hugely picturesque valley nearby our property known as The Heights of Abraham'.
Matlock with it’s antique shops, trendy bars and restaurants along Dale Road is within walking distance or a short train ride.
The cottage could not be better situated to access the treasures of the Peak District with the country houses of Chatsworth, Haddon, Hardwick, Tissington and Bolsover Castle all within a 20 minute drive. Further market towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne, and Wirksworth are within a short drive. The A6 which runs through the valley provides swift access to the A38 and the motorway networks with a national rail hub in Derby. Matlock Bath train station is less than a 10 minute walk away with hourly services to Derby and Nottingham and beyond.
