Located in Cromford near Matlock in the Peak District, the cottage dates from 1765 and offers a relaxing and tranquil holiday setting away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Steeped in history and part of the Derwent Valley world heritage site this beautiful cottage was once a local lead miners home. It became known as Tinsmiths Cottage because later occupants made pots and pans for the village.
Please note: Last minute short stays are welcome, but please give at least 3 days notice so that the cottage is at its best for you.
The cottage accommodates up to 6 people, has a spacious oak beamed lounge, dining room, two toilets and well equipped kitchen.
The ground floor houses the kitchen and dining room with a large table and six chairs, and a highchair for those who require it. You will find the shower room with downstairs toilet leading off this room. Note that there are a few steps to access the downstairs toilet and shower room.
Up a gentle staircase a large family bedroom, with its double and two single beds, is just right for a family where the children prefer to share a room. There is a simple room divider in the family room if you need it. The double bedroom is great for those who want more privacy or just a cosier room. Both rooms have wardrobes and chests of drawers so that guests can feel at home during their stay. There is a toilet with a sink on this floor, too.
The comfortable lounge has two settees and a large armchair providing plenty of seating for everyone, with a coffee table, a TV, a DVD player and a selection of family films. Books and board games are also available for all age ranges.
Outside, there is a small private patio complete with seating and a barbecue. The patio is not fully enclosed and opens onto the public footpath which runs past the property.
There are plenty of dog walking opportunities nearby and there is a small playpark for children within very close walking distance.

Beds were comfortable. Rooms, kitchen, bedding and bathrooms were all very clean. Lovely touches like tea and coffee, washing up liquid and cloths. Warm cottage, close to everything and spacious enough for our family of five. Such a nice place to have an Easter weekend. We hope we will return
This cottage is larger than the photos given credit and is a beautiful place. It was easy to find and to park. As you enter there is a lovely seating area and view. The sound of running water into the bear pit was a pleasant treat. I don't want to give much away as we loved unearthing all the quaintness of the property. We will be back.Location wise, this was also perfect. Short walk to the village, we would recommend the Boat Inn. You can walk to Cromford Mills with Matlock a short drive away.
Lovely quirky cottage in interesting village and very convenient for local attractions in the Peak District. The hosts were very helpful and responded quickly. The cottage was very well equipped and warm and had comfy beds which could sleep up to 6 guests with ease.

Yes, its a great place to visit. Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for your review.
Very quiet location, well laid out property, with comfortable seating and beds, tiny issue dealt with incredibly fast by hosts, cannot fault them and plan to return
We found it a little difficult to find as we parked at the market square and you have to walk through a little alley just one minutes walk up the road. However, on entering the cottage , we felt at home straight away. The owners went above and beyond, making available: games, books, an umbrella and torches. Everywhere was immaculately clean. The bed was comfortable as were the leather sofas. The cottage is in an area with many walks and places of historical interest. We will definitely be visiting again.

The property is absolutely stunning, so peaceful! We stayed here to visit family over in Belper and it was so nice to have our own space to go back to. The cottage was warm welcoming and cosy, the surrounding area was so beautiful and we had everything we needed right in our doorstep.
