Fell in love with this property, feels like home. It has everything one needs. We loved the window shutters, comfortable sofas, great kitchen. Only thing missing is a double bed.Hollingclough is simply stunning, we hope to return next year.Ideal for local walks and the nearby villages have some adorable pubs ready to quench ones thirst after a long days hike.We recommend climbing the dragons back.
Cosy, warm and comfortable, bit like home from home. Lovely locations and peaceful. Lovely decor and pictures. The owner Mark was very helpful and kind.
Hadn't realised no onsite parking and had to move the car away from the house so was a bit of a pain with the other vehicles who parked to go walking , lovely little cottage a bit tired in areas but was a perfect getaway spot for some much needed r and r ,there was wifi so we we're able to use our own apps on our telephones to use the tv . The area is absolutely beautiful and the Chapel tearooms over the road was the most amazing afternoon tea I've ever tasted and highly reccomend they so like to have 48hours notice to do but you will not be disappointed.
The house and host were fantastic we had such a good time! It sits in a lovely quiet village that has a wonderful honesty shop a short walk away. The host was incredibly helpful and made us feel very welcome. Surrounded by beautiful views and great areas to walk.
We had a short stay but it was perfect!
Peaceful location; in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside but also an easy commute to places of interest. Comfortable cottage that stays cool in hot weather!
We enjoyed a half term break here with our dog and electric car. Mark put in a socket to enable us to charge our car overnight - brilliant! The cottage had everything we needed and was comfortable and warm. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with good walks straight from the front door and we enjoyed the local honesty café.
We frequently stay in holiday properties and so know what you can get for £140 / night and sadly this was not up to the standards we would expect. The cottage is lovely, in a lovely sertting but it is very damp with mould around the windows and mildew on the curtains. It was not clean, the tiles in the bathroom were mouldy, under the furniture were dead woodlouse and other remnants of insects, cobwebs everywhere and the lavatory off the main bedroom was very poorly cleaned. The beds were very comfortable but the bedding felt damp. There are no instructions on how to heat the water. The house does have heating but this is controlled remotely by the host which isn't a viable option if you get in late or the weather is variable. The garden is overgrown and the lawn unkempt. The house is a good base for walking in the area, but not somewhere you would wish to spend time in. We ate out every evening and spent time playing cards and games at the local Buxton Brewery taproom just to avoid going back to the house. It just needs a lick of paint, constant low level heating for the damp and a proper clean and it would have been ideal.
A lovely character cottage. Very calm and peaceful stay in a stunning location. Everything we needed. Loved it- thanks Mark for your kind, friendly attention. I would happily come back anytime for another warm, comfortable stay.
Heerlijke ijsjes!
The property had not changed from when we stayed 8 years ago....literally.
With a good clean and a bit of money spent on mattresses and furniture it would excellent. Location fabulous ...
A lovely cottage in an idyllic location in the middle of nowhere! You can walk from the to Chrome hill or further afield. We loved the honesty shop 400m away too. Just need a few more cutlery, water glasses and a new fridge freezer but we managed. Would come again!
My family and I (including two teenage daughters) and our dog have just spent a delightful week in Hollinsclough and Vicarage Cottage was the perfect base for our stay. Clean, cosy and with everything we needed for days out walking the stunning surrounding countryside or cosying up when the weather wasn't great! Perfect mix of practicality and quirky charm. My daughters loved the fact that the WiFi was more than up to speed! And we all enjoyed the games room and DVD selection to pass the wet weather days. We were never cold in the cottage despite it being a particularly cold week - and our two year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was very happily settled too - we used the fire grate across the stairs at night and he was only too happy to stick to his own dog bed!
Already planning a return visit as there's so much in the area that we would love to explore. Great communication with the property owner too from start to finish 😊
Lovely little cottage that was perfect for our half term break visiting friends in the area.

Great location, needs a deep clean
This is a great spot for a short stay with wonderful walks from the doorstep and a very peaceful atmosphere. The place is comfortable and meets all basic needs, the only qualm was that the kitchen and bathroom really do need a proper deep clean as it doesn't look like that's been done for a quite some time. Made us feel a bit sick at times. Otherwise, a great little cottage.
The cottage was very warm and welcoming in beautiful, peaceful countryside. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from it all but with amenities close by in the neighbouring village.
An amazingly peaceful location, a lovely property with good facilities.

Beautiful Location - Stunning Views
We have just enjoyed a short break in this absolutely charming cottage which is in a fabulous location with lovely walks on the doorstep.
Mark the owner is very approachable and sorted out a minor issue for us very quickly.
I would definitely stay here again & be happy to recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing break in beautiful and peaceful surroundings.
Excellent location with amazing scenery and wildlife on the doorstep
Excelllent location but property was a bit tired in places. It was lovely and warm with plenty of hot water. The grill only worked intermittently and there was a shortage of sharp knives. The main issue we all had were the mattresses on the beds and the fact we all had to take our own sheets and towels. Whist appreciating the current situation most rentals simply ask you to strip the beds and put all linen in a bag to go for laundry. We would still stay here again and hope the comments are received as helpful.
Everything we needed for a short stay. The owner was very responsive when we reported a few glitches and fixed it the next day, and was very friendly. Furnishings were basic but adequate - it’s not the priciest place to stay! The cottage itself is very pretty inside and out - but a little more attention to cleanliness wouldn’t have gone amiss, especially in these Covid times. Nothing terrible - just dust under furniture and dirty mirrors and cupboard handles etc. A whizz round with antibacterial sprays etc made us feel better but I would have preferred not to feel I needed to do that. The China, cutlery etc was all very clean and shiny - no problems there. All in all, a pleasant stay in a beautiful location.
Loved the cottage, love the area, the cleanliness was apporling. Sofa in the living room mouldy, stained cushions and pillows, dust all over, windows covered in cobwebs and dirt, beatles in the bedroom, fridge needs replacing . Kitchen cupboards haven't been cleaned for a long time.We had to buy a dinner set, cooking utensils , glasses and throws also airfreshners due too the smell. Such a shame as its potentially the perfect cottage.
