This relaxed wine country retreat sits on a scenic hillside, offering sweeping views of Sonoma rolling landscape. For more than five years, it has operated as a successful vacation rental (earning an impressive 4.8-star rating across 63 stays). Over the past three years the house has been closed for vacation rentals while the owner occupied the house and thoughtfully updated the outdoor/living living areas.

A private electronic gate opens to the beautifully landscaped 2.5-acre property, providing a peaceful, secluded setting just 1.5 miles from the Historic Sonoma Town Square. Guests can enjoy the privacy of a true wine country escape while remaining just minutes from the Historic Sonoma Plaza (1.5 miles) renowned wineries, top-rated restaurants, gourmet markets, and boutique shopping.

The main house spans two levels. Upstairs, you’ll find three bedrooms: a primary king-bed suite with its own bathroom, plus one king and one queen bedroom that share a second full bath. A convenient half bath is located on the main floor. The attached guest cottage, accessible via a separate entrance at parking level, includes a queen sofa bed (American Leather - no springs), a full shower/bathroom, and a outdoor sitting area.

Outdoor living is a highlight of the property, with multiple inviting spaces to relax and entertain. The solar-heated pool and hot tub are surrounded by lush landscaping, with ample room for lounging, dining, and enjoying the fully equipped outdoor kitchen. A large stone fireplace creates a cozy gathering spot, and guests can even dine among the vines for a truly memorable experience.

Inside, the well-appointed kitchen includes everything needed to prepare and enjoy meals. With a spacious dining room and a comfortable great room with a fireplace, TV, and doors that open to a back deck with outside dining area. An additional living room offers a gas fireplace, and through the French doors a dining/sitting area area with views of the pool and surrounding hills. With so many dining options, you can enjoy a different setting each evening of your stay, for example, down by the pool and the built in outdoor barbeque, or in the vineyard.

The home and guest quarters are fully equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, air conditioning, heating, laundry facilities, and provided linens, towels, and basic supplies.

Please note that the home features multiple levels, with stairs required to access each living area. Because of the numerous staircases and changes in elevation throughout the property, it is not suitable for guests with mobility limitations.

For safety reasons, we do not rent to families with children under the age of 10.

Additionally, the property is located in a very private neighborhood. We place great importance on maintaining the privacy and tranquility of our neighbors. If you are seeking a venue for your family or group of friends wanting a nice getaway in the wine country this property is perfect. Wonderful Property Close to Sonoma Plaza

We were four women--three sisters and a friend who have rented many VRBO properties over the last almost 20 years. This was one of the best properties yet. Kitchen was very well equipped. Almost new Weber grill. Outside spaces galore--including a dining area in a mini-vineyard!! Property is adjacent to a natural preserve. Saw deer, wild turkeys and a coyote (No worries property is completely fenced.) Property manager was very responsive. Came to assist with a lost key on a Sunday evening within half an hour. Property is a showing a little age. The bathrooms could use an update. Description states that Sonoma Plaza is about a mile--but really is closer to two miles. Tips provided for groceries and other sundries were much appreciated. Overall a wonderful experience. If our travels take us back to Sonoma, would definitely stay again.

A beautiful but very complex place

First, the property itself is stunning. I mean you can tell from the pictures. We had a great time while there (since of course it’s beautiful and is in wine country). We did have quite a few problems though. The power went out, so there was an issue with the gate, and the pool cover was tricky. It’s a difficult place to get “right”. There’s a lot of upfront paperwork and PDFs, and not much of it goes through VRBO. Then afterward, I attempted to contact the property manager to let them know about the gate, but instead got a scathing call from the owner of the house because a member of our party didn’t know how to use the pool cover and so it was jammed and then the gate was messed up from the power outage. Also, I was told we left it “trashed” even though we took out all the trash, we did all the dishes, we stripped the beds, and we left the common spaces relatively tidy. All in all, it’s a beautiful property, and I’m sure the owner/manager meant the best, but it really is difficult to use unless you have someone on your trip who is willing to spend hours on house logistics. For improvement, signage about the pool cover beside where the key is would be helpful. And while there’s nothing that can be done about the power going out, an easier-to-remedy manual override would’ve helped. Also, just less paperwork to read to make sure all the boxes are checked would really be helpful—it does feel like we had to read a lot of fine print and talk for a while to get anything right.

Phillip We are pleased you liked the property. Our apologies that your stay was not a 5 star as we have received from all our other renters. Each year, we have at least 30% repeat clients. Just a few notes. Power outages in the area, although rare, do cause some issues. The gate of course is electric. We are looking at a battery backup, as trying to describe the release in the Renter's Guide on how to undo the gate is not the best solution. You did have both mine and the owner's phone numbers to help you through the process or get someone over there immediately to rectify the issue. We are all within 10-30 minutes of the property. As far as the pool cover is concerned, we have clear instructions in the Renter's Guide on how to open and close the cover to allow it to work properly. We also ask that all guests staying on the property read the guide before trying to operate the pool or anything in the house. It is quite comprehensive, so you have a reference to go to. However, per your suggestion, we have also pulled out that section and put it with the keys. We do appreciate constructive criticism. As with any place, things work differently than at home, which is why we have a Renter's Guide. The reason for going outside of Vrbo to send you information allows me to be more responsive and track your rental status and to also to provide you with lots of information about the area. As I said, I have over 20 properties that I manage and Vrbo does not always send emails to me for messages you may put on the site. I must be on the website and look at each individual property to find a message. Putting your information on my reservation program allows me to be responsive with your questions. All in all, you were good renters, and though you had some glitches, it did not deter us from giving you a 5-star review. Sandy (manager)

Best Sonoma House!

Wow, I can't say enough about the outdoor space at this property. The pictures don't capture how truly spacious and lovely the grounds are. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of wildlife including quail, deer, owls and even coyotes in the distance. Inside had many rooms with comfortable sofas and chairs and lots of space to get lost in or gather together. Gas fireplaces, gas grills, hot tub, outdoor lighting all worked and came with simple to follow directions. Kitchen was well stocked making cooking enjoyable. Sandy the property manager quickly resolved a mechanical issue and it was the weekend. We would most certainly rent here again

Great stay with friends and family for our 25th wedding anniversary

We loved our stay. The property is just beautiful. The pool was so wonderful, though a touch cold. The hot tub was awesome. The house had everything we needed and plenty of space. It does have it's quirks, but we expected that based on photos. We really appreciated all the kitchen supplies, spices, appliances, laundry room with all needed soaps, pool towels, etc. There was plenty of easy parking, and it was an easy 2 mile bike ride or drive to the main square, and just a bit further to every grocery store you need.

The outside area was amazing. We had problems with the house's ac unit and it really never cooled down (when we arrived it was over 90 in the house). Also the gate that would allow you to cut off 15 min to downtown was closed by the church, which made the walk 30 min.

Absolutely lovely place!

My family and I were there for a wedding and we had a great time! Lots of pool time, plenty of shade and the heated pool was great. Kitchen was well stocked — especially in the glassware area! Management is responsive and pleasant. Thank you for a great stay!

Great adult family getaway

The house and location is beautiful. Lots of quiet space for everyone. We are a family of 5 gathering together for our son's wedding in Sonoma, it was a great house for all of us to relax and enjoy the outdoor area between wedding events. Sandy was terrific to work with and very responsive. I highly recommend this home, be sure to save time to just stay home at the house and enjoy!

Beautiful Peaceful home

My family came for my daughters wedding. There was 8 of us in our group 25-90 years old. The bride opted for the poolside room...privacy. The property was magical! It was cool out so we didn't go in the pool, but it was very tempting. The hot tub and terrace were perfect! The landscaping and garden lighting was beyond beautiful. I hope to go back again to this house and really enjoy the peaceful nature of the property and perhaps go on a wine tour. The house was well equipped with all amenities. Absolutely amazing property

We saw deer, turkeys, quails squirrels and cows grazing in the meadow just right in the back yard, the gardens of this property are amazing . The rose gardens the vineyard the fruit trees are all well maintained, we all loved using the pool and spa. All 8 of us were in awh. It doesn’t get any better then this, also the Lenen and bedding was very good.. this estate had everything we needed and more. I would highly recommend it. Secluded Italian villa vibes

Loved the property, while a bit dated- the house is incredibly comfortable has great space and the most stunning grounds!!! We loved that it was an end lot but a reserve so we felt privacy and got to observe a lot of nature! The pool and hot tub and fire pits and table in the small vineyard - the most fun we had on the trip was enjoying our time staying in at the property!

The Perfect Vacation Home

I hesitate to leave such a great review because I’m afraid this beautiful gem will not be available next time we want to stay here! :) It was a perfect home in every way! It was walking distance into Sonoma Square yet it felt like we were a million miles away when we got settled in. Every part of the property was beautiful! It surrounds a quiet park reserve so we enjoyed watching the wildlife throughout our stay! We enjoyed the pool, the hot tub, grilling and having dinner in the private little vineyard! And this is just the outside of the house! We found the inside to be as charming! The bedrooms were well laid out with plenty of room for our group. The kitchen is beautiful as well and made our decision to “eat in” so easy! A couple of days were cooler than the others so we enjoyed sitting in the living room, surrounded by windows with the fireplace warming up the room and the mood! What a perfect retreat! We absolutely loved our stay and are already looking forward to our next visit! Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

Beautiful location

I appreciate the owner's communications and enjoyed our stay at the property. Even in the middle of winter we could go outside to the hot tub. Through the windows we could see turkeys, deer, and hot air balloons over the green hills. One of our members used the guest cottage as well and found it nice and clean and thought it stayed warm with the heater. Overall very clean and property was as described. We enjoyed the fireplaces and the made good use of the kitchen. Thanks for the beautiful stay.

Sonoma country house

This property has a lovely outdoor setting near a nature preserve. We saw deer and wild turkeys daily. We enjoyed walking from the house to nearby trails and into Sonoma. There were several outdoor eating areas on the property and I regret was that we did not try each of them. It was too cool to use the pool but that looked lovely if it had been slightly warmer. The interior of the house worked well for our group of four couples. There were nice common areas and each couple had their own space. The kitchen was well stocked with spices and pans which made cooking our meals easy on their large stovetop. The host was easy to work with and responded quickly.

Girlfriend Weekend

Despite the 1 in 100 year rain storm, we had a fabulous time. The rain didn't stop us. Loved every minute and would definitely come back. BTW, the kitchen was so fully stocked with spices, utensils, etc. so that was such an awesome surprise. Loved the kitchen!

Excellent propery

The property itself was excellent! Sandra gave a ton of recommendations prior to our trip which was in my opinion, above and beyond your typical host. The pool was amazing especially since it was 99+ while we were there. Our only issues were that the description of trash location was not thorough. We couldn’t find that garbage cans anywhere which created issues getting rid of the trash. The pool guy comes every Friday which we were not made aware of so I was quite alarmed when he showed up on the property unannounced. All in all, I’d highly recommend the property!
