We were very well served by Dave and his home. It has everything that you need… even crocs for going to the hot tub. I would agree that it is a bit tired but very homely and suited us perfectly. It’s in a quiet area a few minutes drive out of Golden with deer all around.
Nice Place and Friendly Host But Couple of Hiccups
Our stay at Dave's vacation home was a mixed experience. Safety was a major concern due to the slippery, ice-covered paths which caused injuries to our group members. Even with Dave's friendly assistance, this dangerous condition was a letdown. Additionally, the much-anticipated hot tub was a disappointment. Struggling to navigate icy paths to the hot tub, we found it cold at just 30°C, and efforts to heat it failed despite Dave's remote help. The water's excessive foaminess also raised hygiene concerns.
Dave’s hospitality and willingness to help was commendable, but safety concerns and the hot tub experience detracted from the overall enjoyment of our vacation. We hope Dave can address these matters for future guests.

To all the Mohammed’s out there…This is the actual Rocky Mountains
Please know that I am a professional equipment operator, multiple business owner and I have been doing landscaping and snow removal for over 25 years.
I have hosted over 550 stays at my vacation property (that I now run full time) and have never had anyone complain about the conditions of the ground. Unfortunately some guests may want to blame me for winter conditions that mother natures provides, but rest assured I am committed to excellence and some variables may be exaggerated or simply out of my control.
My rental is on the mountainside situated in the Rocky Mountains of Canada. Conditions are winter and can change quickly. The grounds were salted prior to my guests arrival and pathways were safe.
Did my guests have appropriate footwear?
Did my guests use the salt that I provided for them and informed them about?
Were my guests consuming alchohol?
I am unable to be in control of extreme weather circumstances in the Rocky Mountains… but with salt/sand on hand at each entrance door, snow shovels, and a welcome note for each guest stating to “watch their step due to changing winter conditions outside the house” I am able to help eliminate careless decision making when walking on the outside ground surfaces.
Please know that when 10 or more people get into a 4/5 person hot tub… the water overflows and leaves the hot tub unusable for your next nights escapades. It also creates a lot of work for me and can ruin the next guests stay. Please have respect for what I am providing for you at my home.
This property is located in a quiet neighborhood and has everything you need! Dave was fantastic and quick to reply to messages. Would stay here again!
Came sledding to Golden and stayed here. Was perfect for us 5! Lots of room for 3 trucks and trailers (probably fit 4 if need). Hot tub was hot, house was warm. Wifi was out from a storm but all was well. Lots of supplies there. Super easy check in and out...great for skiers and Sledder's!! Thanks Dave!!
Home is on a quiet road, very dark during the night time as there aren’t any street lights. Dave was always quick to respond to any questions I had during our stay. Plenty of cookware (pans, utensils etc..) very clean, very nice art work.
The basement is a little suite in which I stayed with my spouse and 2 kids, my sons loved the bunk bed. The hot tub was nice but just be sure you bring a robe or something warm for when you get out as there’s a little trail to get back to the house. There are tons of movies to watch during downtime and the upstairs tv has Netflix also. Lots of wood for the fire pit but please note that there is extra charge for using firewood. Overall really great stay :)
Our stay was great for the most part. We rented both the house and the camping area. The camping area is very neat! The place was clean with fun decor and lots art. Dave left us lots of wood when we asked. But not enough toilet paper. We had 6 roles for 3 nights of 19 ppl. The property is large but sits in a wedge and a valley between many other houses. Noise becomes an issue pretty easily with the all the neighbors. They decided to try and take revenge on our last morning and wake us up at 6am with honking music and headlights. At least they left us alone until we were leaving anyway... We do have some loud voices in the group. But overall we tried hard keep the noise down after 11 and we could not hear those down at the fire from the house. Due to this we would not return.

Ok, so I would like it to be known that my house is not a weekend party spot, it is a quiet place for family and friends to visit. It is not fair to my lovely neighbours who work hard to enjoy their peace and tranquility on the mountainside just outside of Golden. Quiet time is between 11pm-7am. Ryan was only supposed to only have 10 people in the house between two bathrooms and the rest of his group in the campground using the 3 toilet facilities there... sounds like the lower private suite (attached to the house) may have been unavailable to the rest of the group for toilet use... Anyhow there is always lots of toilet paper, paper towel and nasal tissue on the property for all your needs. In the country we use septic systems so flushing excessive amounts of all types of paper down into the septic system is simply not acceptable. Welcome! To all small families looking for a place to unwind and relax. Great hikes and views in all directions of the property. Evening firepit and hot tub opportunities.
Thank you,
Dave

Very rude host
My experience at this place overall was good because I was with good company and friends. When I arrived at the hosts property I called Dave right away, asked for a call back, but failed to do so, and texted me hours after. There was also no extra toilet paper rolls. He left us with 2 rolls for 14 people. The host also had the audacity to argue with me stating he left a whole tree when he definitely did not. He even asked for us to leave if we weren’t happy! This was not the case at all as It was more of an inconvenience for us all. Super rude individual. Poor upkeeping of the property, smelt a bit weird too upon arrival. But overall a good time with my friends.

Hi Matthew,
I am unhappy to hear that you had a poor experience at my home. I talked with you on the phone prior to your arrival to make sure everything was in order for your check in. I personally placed an estimated amount of toilet paper in each bathroom your group would need for the entire stay. Upon hearing that it was all used up after your first night, I drove into town and brought you back a full box. I guess these things happen and I apologize.
Sincerely,
Dave
