Secluded, pet-friendly close to Nashville!

You won’t believe you are only 8 minutes from downtown Nashville when you pull up the driveway to this beautiful retreat. Super secluded on 5 wooded acres, this 2-bedroom, 2-bath log cabin is equally quaint for a romantic getaway and fun for a weekend with your family or close friends.

If you want to get outside and meander through Nashville or check out the state park, just 12 minutes away, there is much to do. Bloomington and the Indiana University campus are under 30 minutes on a scenic drive via IN-45, so your location is perfectly situated for campus visits for any reason. If the weather calls for a little less outdoor adventure, you can sit under the wraparound porch and read a book on the swing, dine on the screened-in porch after preparing a meal in the fully furnished kitchen, play a game, watch TV, or gather with those you are with and take time to catch up on life’s journeys.

There is plenty of space and area for everyone to stretch out and recharge. No matter what your day brings, you will enjoy being able to wind down lounging in the hot tub and sitting around the fire pit at night. Just don’t forget to bring all the fixings for s’mores!

We hope that Deer Dance Log Cabin can be a place where you will want to make special memories year after year. There are many updates happening now and planned for the near future. Internet is now available, but it is totally okay if you disconnect and don’t use it!

In addition to the king and queen beds, there is also a full-sized futon.

Deer Dance Log Cabin has a fairly steep drive. It is helpful if you have a front-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicle. When going up the hill, maintain a steady speed; you should not have any problems.

PET-FRIENDLY PROPERTY: There is a $75 fee per pet. Moondance Vacation Homes proudly donates a portion to the Brown County Humane Society when you bring your pet and pay your pet fee.

All fireplaces are seasonal and available for use from October 1st to April 1st.

ALL EVENTS, DAY GUESTS, AND PARTIES ARE PROHIBITED WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL FROM PROPERTY MANAGEMENT. Effective July 1, 2025, the county has raised the innkeepers' tax from 5% to 8%.

The property was great. We loved our stay. We did have an issue with a smell in the downstairs bedroom. We tried air freshener and even a candle. We had to open up the windows. It got a little better after that. Over all we loved the cabin and the area. Thanks

Very nice cabin in beautiful setting

Cabin was well appointed, comfortable and very clean. Wooded hillside location is secluded and beautiful. Just my wife and I but can accommodated additional guests. Several small touches included (e.g. all light switches are labeled) that made our stay a breeze. Would definitely book again.

Great long weekend getaway

My husband rented this cabin for a long weekend with our dog. Really nice property, very private, well maintained and very clean. We did have some issues getting up the steep drive which had ice and snow on it from recent storms but not much you can do about that. Also, occasional mouse ran across the floor but it is winter in the woods. We would rent this cabin again.

65th birthday/girls trip

We all had an awesome time and DEFINITELY will be coming back! Cabin was excellent and all the amenities were a plus! This cabin offers so much that you dont need to bring a lot from home except your clothes, some food and enjoy your your stay! Beautiful Cabin both Secluded and Close to Town

This is a very nicely appointed spacious cabin that feels very secluded. This is probably the quietest rental we’ve ever stayed at. Yet, it’s also super close to town (7 min drive). The drive up is pretty steep but once you do it, you realize it’s not so bad. The grounds, though spacious, are also very steep so there’s really no way to walk around/ walk the dog. We ended taking him to a nearby park which was very nice.

This property was nice and secluded. It had everything we expected. The weather was warmer for February and there were a lot of lady bugs in the cabin and piled up in the lights near the fireplace. The shower did not have much pressure, but other than that, it was a decent place to stay. The complimentary coffee and tea was very nice.

Easy and convenient getaway from Indy and suburbs.

Quick option for a 3 day vacation or plenty of activities for a week or more. This cabin has something for all ages. Accessible for limited mobility. Pet friendly! So many good places to eat that it is hard to choose and you have everything you need to cook at the cabin if you want to stay in. Ideal if you need a break and want to avoid travel and crowds.

Honeymoon getaway

This cabin is absolutely amazing! My wife and I are both introverts and were looking to get away from busy adult life in the city for awhile. Staying here was like having complete solitude except for our very few ventures into town. The amenities were great (everything you could need besides food was provided). The drive way was an adventure though, had to go up it with momentum and speed(we didn't make it up the first try!).

nice place w few problems

overall it is a nice looking pleasant place to stay. we got stuck at the bottom of the driveway for 2 days and had to walk up the driveway w all our stuff and walk up/down in the dark also hot tub did not heat up the last evening. the hot tub is very important for to my husband/kids so they were very disappointed they couldn’t get in at all our last night

Lovely log cabin

We enjoyed a short getaway at this cabin up the hill. As noted the driveway is steep but we had no problem with our 4x4 truck. It does need to be grated due to rain washout. Once inside we were immediately impressed with how welcoming and CLEAN… a lot of attention to detail. The coffee/tea bar was a nice touch as was the jar of taffy. In addition to cleanliness, you’ll find a well stocked kitchen and plenty of linens. Due to the rainy cool conditions we did not get to use the screened in porch or hot tub. This would be a true bonus in better weather. We always appreciate the opportunity to bring our pup and yet the home had no tell “tail” signs of previous four legged guests such as odors, fur etc. This is likely a result of the excellent housekeeping. We would definitely consider staying here again!

Stayed inside mostly. Roasted a few marshmallows. No hot tub too cool for us outside. Nice cabin inside. Everything clean basically found one dirty blanket. a leaky faucet in the bathtub. A drawer in the bathroom vanity that just fell out unattached to anything. A handrail to the stairway that was a little loose that scared me so. Driveway needs to be addressed for big trucks only. Nice instructions to everything. Shopped in town at shops the next day. Then Friday left. Nice stay for the most part might come back if lowered price someday. Also had extra charges from VRBO on my credit card I didn't not understand. I thought moondance did all the charges and then got an extra 85 dollar charge after stay from moondance. Please advise

Girls trip

The cabin was in a great location and had all the amenities that were listed and it was extremely clean. Would definitely recommend this cabin and we hope to return for another girls trip.We shopped, hiked in Brown County, ate at some restaurants, enjoyed the bonfire and the hot tub.

Surprise mini-vacation

My family stayed at this beautiful well kept and clean cabin. Sure the driveway is tricky, but well worth it! We had the best time and my granddaughters were so surprised. Definitely recommend staying here.

Anniversary Getaway

This cabin was very clean and adorably decorated (HUGE moose antlers on living room wall). We loved the wrap-around deck complete with swing and rocking chairs and a screened dining area and very nice hot tub. Kitchen had everything we needed. The driveway was absolutely NO problem to navigate with our AWD Fusion. You’re smack in the middle of the forest with here. Highly recommend.
