About this property

Cottage at historic Armsdale Farm

Leave your white noise machine behind when you escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and relax in the tranquility of the country here at The Cottage at Armsdale Farm. Here you will delight in the scenic views of the rolling hills of middle Tennessee. Enjoy the fresh country air while you walk the farm, explore the barns and gaze at our herd of Belted Galloway cattle.

This 3 bedroom, 2 bath 1225 sq. ft. cottage has everything you need. The master boasts a wonderful queen brass bed. (There is a hair dryer and sewing kit in the master bathroom so you don't need to bring yours!) The other two bedrooms have twin beds. Sleeping six, the cottage is complete with a family room appointed with turn of the century wicker, a furnished kitchen (dishes, pots & pans, blender, microwave, bake ware, mixer, crock pot, Mr. Coffee coffeemaker, toaster, toaster oven, etc.) dining area and laundry room. The laundry room is complete with washer and dryer, iron and ironing board. A screened in back porch with gas grill draws you into the great outdoors. All bedrooms, den and back porch have ceiling fans. For those who must have white noise to sleep, we have an oscillating fan in one bedroom and the other two have a "Sleep Mate" sleep machine that produces white noise. In addition we have a "Pack N Play", a "Sassy Seat", books and games for those little ones. There is even a gas fireplace in the den!

Located 40 miles south of Nashville, there are many sights, golf courses, parks, rivers, and many things to do around the immediate area. We are about 15 miles from the Natchez Trace and near several area wineries-Amber Falls Winery, Keg Springs, and Natchez Hills. In nearby Columbia are restaurants and beautiful, historic homes such as the James K. Polk home. On the square (we are the county seat) are charming shops and restaurants-like the Duck River Books, Muletown Roasted Coffee, Variety Record Shop (with old & new vinyl!), Puckett's Grocery, Square Market & Cafe, Southern Tre and others. Be sure to check out famous Ted's Sporting Goods as well. For those looking for a place to get still, quiet, and shed the stress of life, then Armsdale Farm is a perfect place. We do not have cable television by choice but do have wi-fi as well as a smart TV and DVD player. So feel free to bring your CDs, DVDs and Netflix password! Your time here will be a reminder of the peace and quiet of rural life.

Comfy Cozy
We had a wonderful stay! The host made everything easy, was very responsive to messages/questions, and provided everything we needed and went above and beyond what we expected. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The home and property were both beautiful. Location was great, not far from activities, restaurants, and square, but also secluded enough to have some peaceful time away from others. My husband, kids, and I would all highly recommend!

Quiet and Peaceful Farm Cottage
Everything was just as advertised. The cottage was clean and well kept, with a well stocked kitchen. Ruth is an attentive and accomodating host. Our favorite thing was rocking on the front porch every morning while drinking our coffee and watching the birds and the beautiful cows!

About the host

Host profile image
I have been happily married for 42 years. My golf pro husband and I moved back to his historic family farm in 1999. The golf business took us to live in many states (TN, TX, MS, VA, SC) and gave us many wonderful experiences!! We have hosted many people in our home over the years. We opened our home to many golfers who came for lessons, students doing internships over the summer and opened our home (and hearts) to the late Lewis Chitengwa, a remarkable young talented golfer from Zimbabwe.

We love meeting new people and sharing the story of our family farm. I am a retired nurse, and my husband's passion is teaching and coaching golf and tending to our herd of Belted Galloway cows. And most importantly, we are grandparents to six terrific grandchildren!!

Why they chose this property

This beautiful historic family farm (c. 1807) is located 7 miles from the county square with shops, restaurants, etc. Just about 40 miles south of Nashville, you can access the big city easily, enjoy the 3 wineries down the road from us, have access to the historic Natchez Trace (a National Park), enjoy local shops, the home of President James K. Polk or simply enjoy rocking on the porch and gazing at our herd of Belted Galloway cows. Parking is not an issue...we are on a farm after all!

What makes this property unique

You choose what kind of visit you would like. Is it an escape to get away from the big city's hustle and bustle? Then just stay on the farm, rock on the porch and take walks around the property. Want something to do? We have a quaint city square with shops and restaurants, many with live music as well as historic sights and other areas of interest. Want to spend part of your time exploring Nashville? That is possible too with the big city only about 45 miles north of us.
