Modern cottage - 1 mins walk from village centre and surrounding countryside

Dob Cottage is a nearly new stone built cottage in a pleasant courtyard setting, just a short stroll from the village centre with all it's amenities. The cottage is fitted out with all mod.cons. and yet has the characterful beams so typical of the area. The bedroom on the ground floor has 2 comfortable 3ft beds (can convert to double) with pocket sprung mattresses. The bathroom has a bath and separate shower plus wc and wash basin.. Upstairs is an open plan kitchen/lounge area with all modern facilities including a 42" flat screen television, with Netflix.
No more than two minutes walk away, there are good restaurants, take-aways, shops, ATM's and lots of countryside walks, so no need to use the car . There is an allocated parking spot right outside the door of the cottage.
The charming village of Holmfirth with its many quirky little shops and eating places, is just 5 minutes drive away.

We were made to feel very welcome in this warm and cosy cottage. The parking space was great and we were pleased and surprised to find so many good places to eat within a short work (especially Punch Tapas).Jenny has obviously gone out of her way to think of all the extra touches to make this and lovely place to stay. I have lived in this beautiful, rustic and friendly area now for 20 +years, and although I'm from "over the hills" they don't seem to hold it against me! I retired a few years ago, and that gave me the opportunity to start my little holiday let business which has been a dream of mine for some time. I live in close proximity to Dob Cottage and after driving around the North West as a self-employed rep. for many years, I am enjoying the delights of this area, with it's wonderful characters,scenery and "things to do".

Why they chose this property

I love this area because of the spectacular scenery, and the amazing wildlife. For birdwatchers, it is a very worthwhile area to visit, with the owls and the curlews on the moors, and the woodland birds in the valleys.. It is a very "arty" area with many talented artists and sculptors. There are several events throughout the year ie.Art Week, The Folk Festival etc. The local Tourist Information Office has the details! Country pubs and good restaurants and loads of good walks make it an excellent tourist destination. The Holme Valley is picturesque, rustic, and has a warm and welcoming charm all of its own. I like to think that Dob Cottage is a relaxing and comfortable place to come home to, after a busy day of exploring!

We chose this area to live because, although we have all the facilities we need in the village, we are surrounded by beautiful countryside.
Also, the proximity of the cities of Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield, make it ideal.
