About this property

Beautiful House of Kachinas near Starbucks and Whole Foods

Beautiful, recently remodeled townhouse with high-beamed living room ceiling, original artwork, stained glass window, kachina dolls, three televisions, lots of books, games, and DVDs. Two bedrooms plus an office/den with a sofa bed that can also serve as completely closed off third bedroom.

Great, central location near the beautiful Albuquerque Academy and many grocery stores, and restaurants including a Whole Foods and Starbucks within walking distance.

Near golf courses, gym and great hiking and cycling. 20 minute ride to old town.

The house is located near Albuquerque Academy in the very safe and much sought after Bear Canyon Neighborhood. It is very quiet neighborhood and most of the residents are retired. It is the type of neighborhood where people own the house for 20 years + or keep the house for more than one generation.

We have had this property for a little over a year. We are proud to say we are getting quite a bit of repeat business.

From guest feedback, we are told one of the best features of the house is the open space feeling. The living room has high beams. There are skylights to the side. It also rather large room for a house its size. It is directly connected to the breakfast nook. The den is also a good-sized room and includes a large screen TV and office space. The den also doubles as a completely closed off third bedroom if needed. Most of the house has been extensively remodeled including new beds, hot water heater and washer and dryer.

You will have to be careful to keep your eyes on the road when driving by the amazing view of Mt. Sandia as you approach the house.

The backyard is barren but pets seem to like it. The beautiful insides of the house and the location more than makes up for it.

Garage and house are directly connected. Due to shelving on each side, the garage is only a single car garage. One can easily fit a medium size SUV. For example, a 2005 Pathfinder has a good 3 feet to spare between rear bumper and garage door. 2nd car parking is available in driveway. Garage height is 82 inches. Contact us if you need exact dimensions of the garage.

Another garage of very similar size was able to back in a 4 door Ford 150 with about 3 inches to spare. So it really is borderline for a full size SUV.

The neighborhood is extremely safe and well lighted. We recently had a guest park a new SUV in the driveway for 6 months without issues and felt comfortable doing so.

Internet: High speed 200mbs down and 5mbs up. Faster on office desk next to modem. Direct plug-in from your computer to modem is available.

We charge $40 pet fee short term stays and additional fees for stays longer than 5 days. 50lb max.

They’ve thought of everything
Our stay at the katchina house was wonderful. Our hosts thought of everything. We had all the amenities you could think of, spices and oils in the kitchen, extra sheets, pillows and blankets, protective coverings for furniture for our dogs. Also great instructions in the house. Very comfortable and clean. Excellent location. Great views of the Sandias. We will definitely book again !

I hope to return
The exterior isn't fancy but the interior is as well appointed as any vacation rental I've ever stayed in. Convenient location, too.

Another great stay!
I've stayed a few times at the House of Kachinas and it's always clean and quiet! The neighborhood is great to take walks in, near some nice restaurants and easy to reach for groceries.

Great place to explore Albuquerque
My family came to Albuquerque to experience the Balloon Fiesta and had a great time. The place was in a quiet neighborhood and very relaxing. We were only a 5 minute drive to the Hoffmantown Church park and ride for the Balloon Fiesta. Which I would highly recommend rather than driving to the Balloon Park. All the things we wanted to experience were within 15 minute drives. The house was clean and very well supplied with household supplies like dish soap, garbage bags, sponges, and dishwasher soap. There was also a basic cooking supplies like salt, spices, and oil. Kitchen was also supplied with a coffee maker, microwave, oven, toaster and plenty of pans/dishes that made cooking easy there. There is also a selection of stores near by. Overall we had a great time in visiting Albuquerque and a large part of it was having a relaxing place to go to each night.

We are a family of three. Janelle, a business consultant, is author of the best-selling book, A Complaint is a Gift. So we welcome all of your feedback, and especially your complaints, about this property. Jeff hosts the "New Thinking Allowed" channel on YouTube. Lewis has his masters degree in Chinese linguistics. We moved to Albuquerque in 2018. Previously, we lived in Las Vegas, NV, and also in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Why they chose this property

We chose this property because of the location and open space feeling. The living room is very large for a house its size. You are very close to all sorts of convenient shopping (Walmart, Smiths, Whole Foods, Starbucks, Keva Juice, UPS Store, and much more). Also, the Albuquerque Academy -- with lovely running trails -- is just a few blocks away. It is a relatively short drive drive to Old Town or to the Balloon Fiesta Park or the University of New Mexico. The Bear Canyon neighborhood is peaceful, cheerful, safe -- and is generally regarded as one of the nicest in Albuquerque.
