About this property
382 reviews ⭐️ Fishing-Firepit-Hot Tub-Horseshoes-only 2.5 miles to Gatlinburg!
► Pet stays must be approved BEFORE you book. ► Dog owners, please scroll down for details how to request a pet stay.
Welcome to your new, favorite cabin in the Smokies! Swaying Pines--now in its 23rd year as a family vacation getaway--is only a 5 minute drive to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. And the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Gatlinburg entrance is only 6.5 miles away.
You'll be right around the corner (about 200 feet) from a community catch-and-release 5 acre fishing lake. Since it's private property, you won't need a fishing license. Just pack your poles and try your best angling skills on the bass, catfish, sunfish and grass carp. Or if you're not into fishing, take a peaceful morning walk by the water and watch the resident ducks and seasonal geese.
What can you expect outdoors at this cabin?
► Paved driveway and parking for 2-3 vehicles ► 5 steps up to the deck ► Small yard with horseshoe pits (non-regulation) ► Large deck with outdoor dining and seat cushions ► Nordic hot tub (4-5 person) with cover lift bar ► Charcoal grill ► Outdoor lighting (well-lit driveway and deck) ► Schlage keyless entry with your own, unique key code
Once inside, you'll see the living/dining area and just beyond that the kitchen. Right off the kitchen is the master bedroom with king bed, bathroom and laundry. The second floor has a comfy reading nook at the top of the stairs and a queen bed in the bedroom. You’ll find a rollaway twin bed in the upstairs closet for a 5th guest. The second floor bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a tiled stall shower. Here's what you'll find in both bedrooms:
► King bed: Novaform ComfortGrande Plus, Advanced Gel Memory Foam for temperature regulation and medium firmness
► Queen bed: Novaform 3" memory foam plush topper on commercial coil-spring mattress. This bed is ideal if you like a bit softer, pillow-top mattress.
► Plush pillows and quality linens (we replace our pillows every 12-18 months) ► Ceiling fan ► Desk, chair and desk lamp ► Dresser or armoire for clothing storage ► Extra large mirrored closet ► Luggage rack ► Wooden hangers ► 46" Sharp smart TV with Spectrum cable in queen bedroom.
The kitchen is well-equipped with quality cookware, glass bakeware, half-sheet baking pans, pizza pan, wood cutting board and knife block, grilling utensils, etc. Swaying Pines has plenty of small appliances, too:
Finally, the living space. We've stayed in a few hotels and vacation rentals over the years and discovered it's hard to find really comfortable furniture. That why we invested in quality reclining furniture (the sofa is electric). The dining table and chairs are over 20 years old but they're solid and sit comfortably. We even have some chair pads on them for a little extra cush :). We have blackout blinds at the windows and louvered door blinds for added privacy. There's a variety of good lighting (accent, task and ambient).
There is a single Ring security floodcam that lights up the driveway as you pull in. The video field is trimmed to record only the driveway and the 5 stairs leading up to the cabin. This camera allows us to monitor inclement weather at the cabin and have a record of when our housekeeping, pest control or any other service providers have been there. We don't actively monitor this camera.
We want you to have an amazing vacation and make sure Swaying Pines is a good fit for your needs. Please let us know if you have any questions prior to booking!

The cabin was very clean and the kitchen had everything you could possibly think of.. The furniture was nice and very comfortable. We had a great time.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed Treehouse and its location. We love earning our stars for cleanliness as well! I will pass this along to Elsie and her crew 😊 come back to visit anytime
Made a trip to pigeon forge for mySons birthday. House was in a great location, just a few minutes to get to either pigeon forge or Gatlinburg with easy communication with homeowner. House was really nice and clean with everything we needed while we stayed. Would highly recommend this property!

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback! We are SO happy that you enjoyed your stay and found it to be well stocked and clean. Thank you for choosing us to host your stay!
The house was exactly as described. It was a great get away for my whole family, including my dog! It was close to the park, following Waze to get there was easy- but Waze on the way out of the property would have sent us the wrong way down a one way - be aware the traffic in the neighborhood is one way!It was a great place for a peaceful get away
It was a great place for the family that was right in the middle of all the activities that you would want to do down the strip in Gatlinburg and in pigeon Forge

We absolutely enjoyed our stay. It was very clean and exactly as it was described. They communicated well and the check in process was simple. We loved the closeness to both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We will definitely stay here again. We’re hoping to make another trip back in December.

We absolutely loved this clean, spacious and well-appointed house! It was the perfect place for our family of four (two teenagers!) to relax after a busy day in the Smokies and surrounding areas. The wifi was excellent and all the beds were super comfortable. Having a hot tub on the deck was a huge bonus!

We are so happy Swaying Pines was the perfect fit for your family! The owners really go above and beyond to make sure guests have everything they need for their stay and for the cabin to feel like your home in the Smokies. With life being so fast paced it’s wonderful to slow down, play some board games and make some lifelong memories. Thank you for allowing us to host your family and we would LOVE to have you back!
We stayed for five nights. Great location - near the Smokies park entrance, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Cabin was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. Beds were firm and comfortable. Snacks and dog treats were left for us in the kitchen. Nice surprise after driving all day and arriving late in the evening. Didn't have a chance to use the hot tub. The only downside was that sound carried up into the loft and upstairs bedroom. I would definitely stay there again. And receiving check-in info and checking out was easy. Owner was great with communication.
We had such a great time! We spent a day in Pigeon Forge and a day in Gatlinburg, but had just as much fun playing cards and horseshoes back at the cabin. It is very important to follow the directions given by the host and not follow apple/Google Maps. It took us way out of the way! Other than that, it was a wonderful vacation.

I can’t tell you how happy it makes us to hear that you enjoyed Swaying Pines and specially cards/board games. It may seem like a silly thing to stick out to us but in such a fast paced world it is nice to know our guests are able to relax and enjoy the simple things a mountain cabin offers and the memories made ❤️ Thank you for allowing us to host your family’s Smoky Mountain vacation
This was the perfect home base for our family of four. The cabin was exceptionally clean—which is a top priority for my wife—and clearly well-maintained. Its location near Pigeon Forge is excellent, making it a quick and easy drive to everything we needed. Additionally, the host was incredibly responsive whenever we had questions. We’ve already added this to our favorites list for our future trips to Dollywood!

What a nice compliment, thank you! The owners do a fantastic job of keeping it stocked. We would be honored to host you again anytime! 🙂
Absolutely breathtaking views and the fall foliage was spectacular. I would absolutely stay here again. Off the beaten path which is just what we wanted. Still close to all the attractions if that is what you want.

We just love hearing the cabin & location exceeded expectations. Coming back is the best compliment from our guests. Thank you! 😊
The cabin was great. We loved all the outdoor space. It was clean. We had one complaint. The cabin got very warm in the afternoon and the AC only went down to 69 degrees. I messaged the caretaker and she said the owner was in Germany and to open the windows. The windows were very hard to open to cool the cabin down. We like to sleep at 65 degrees. But other than that, the cabin was perfect for our family of 5. It had every thing we could’ve needed.

Thank you so much for the feedback. We had an HVAC tech come out to do the spring tune-up and learned our ductwork was partially disconnected under the house. We're having that repaired asap. The tech said that should improve the cooling, especially on the upper floor. Our thermostat range is from 68-75 degrees. Any lower than 68 isn't recommended because it could strain and freeze up the heat pump. We provide two tower portable tower fans to augment the three ceiling fans in the house. It's our sincere desire to keep guests comfortable year-round! I'm so glad you enjoyed Swaying Pines and we would love to have you back.
The host was welcoming. She had snacks, kcups and coffee syrup to name a few. Perfect location and perfect yard for dogs. Enjoy walk around the pond with the dogs. I would definitely stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Jen Monschke & co-host Amy Greener
Hi I'm Amy Greener and along with my husband Rick, we own and self-manage our 3 cabins in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, plus a few more for our neighbors. Our goal is to give you the best vacation rental experience ever. We hope to retire someday but for now, this is our family business and it keeps us busy!
Why they chose this property
Lots of people ask us why we chose this area to buy a vacation rental, when there are so many beautiful properties in our home state of Michigan. Honestly, it boiled down to two big factors: money and weather. With three young children, we didn't have much money to work with. We were looking specifically for a modest, fixer-upper. And Michigan gets mighty cold after October, so we headed south for our cabin search. We stumbled across Swaying Pines and new immediately it had real potential. It was painted blue outside and sad looking inside, but with time and sweat equity it's become a favorite with guests. We love the Smokies, the history of the area and it's welcoming people. We've made many friends and acquaintances here over the years, and you can't help but feel that wonderful southern charm and hospitality wherever you go.
What makes this property unique
Swaying Pines is a hidden gem...only 5 minutes from either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. We especially enjoy the short drive to either town when it's really busy, like holidays. The 6 acre lake is privately owned so you don't need to buy a fishing license. It's so relaxing to take a walk around the corner to the lake and drop a line...or just make a loop around the lake for some exercise. The horseshoes are lots of fun, too. It has been a joy for us to gradually update and upgrade the cabin and hear comments from guests who remember it having a blue exterior, dial up internet or the old jacuzzi in the main bath. Humble beginnings, for sure :)
