River Respite

The photos in the listing do not do this property justice. It is very clean, comfortable and has all you would need to feel right at home! You can tell the family who owns it takes pride in caring for others. The river offers a unique mix of soothing water sounds, friendly little wildlife and the occasional traveling barge. Whatever you might need is a short distance away, but you are far enough away in a very quiet neighborhood.

Extended holiday stay

Enjoyed the river views and barge traffic while staying warm and cozy indoors. Perfect size for a family of four. Close to grocery but remote enough to have a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. Jason was a good communicator and responsive when needed.

Girls getaway

We so enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the morning and the evening. We even watched the carp jump the first night. Wish they would have jumped again. The home was well kept and just like advertised.

Fun girls weekend at the lake

We planned a girl's weekend for all the women in my family. This house looked perfect because the location was a mid-point for everyone, the view looked amazing & everyone could have their own bed. This is only my second time using VRBO but several of my family members use it regularly. The house was very nice. The host was very friendly & helpful. Amazingly, the hot water lasted for all 7 of us to shower. A huge plus! The home is right on the water so we had a wonderful view. Unfortunately, we didn't get to use any of the outdoor amenities like the fire pit, patio or grill because the whole time we were there the wind was incredibly strong. It seemed to only be that way at the house. Any time we left it was only moderately windy or not windy at all. Everything in the house appears to be new. This is nice except for the two twin beds. They are obviously brand new & so loud when you move in them that you wake yourself & the other person up. I'm not sure how you could fix this. I recommend using a white noise app to try to help drown it out. It may not even be an issue for kids. We made all the meals but one at the house. The kitchen is a great size & situated perfectly so no one is excluded. My aunt's who are more experience VRBO'ers said the cooking supplies were good but they usually have more in such large kitchens. Because it looks new, I assume this will get better with time. The only thing I needed & couldn't find was a rubber spatula & liquid measuring cup. The living room has a large sectional that fit all of us & there was plenty of room for games & puzzles at the kitchen table. Overall I would recommend this house to anyone, especially a large group, unless you wanted to do outside stuff. We came in April. Maybe the wind dies down later in the year?

This is a good VRBO.Pros: 1. Great location on the river. 2. Beautiful views. 3.Excellent host communication. 4. Easy check in.Cons: 1. Unit was a bit dirty -- lots of spider webs and dead bugs. 2. Main suite does not have central air / heat. Portable cooling unit that took many hours to cool the room. 3. Host does not want you to wear shoes in unit. Not a problem for us since that is what we do at home but should be clearer in description.

Had a fantastic week staying here with our party of 6. Plenty of room for everyone to get comfy and a fantastic game area in the garage/first floor. Each evening we were able to relax out on the wrap around patio overlooking the river. The property was well equipped to make our stay comfortable and the communication with the host was excellent. Great House

Loved the house. It was very clean and well kept. Owner was great. My kids loved playing darts and the billiard table. Loved the views of the river and big deck. Only regret was the weather wasn’t a little warmer to enjoy the deck more. Would definitely stay here again.

Excellent property

The property was just as advertised. Upon arrival we were very appreciative of the garage, as it was raining that evening, and it was great to be able to unpack the vehicles inside. The view of the river from the deck was great. We did not spend a lot of time at the house, as we were visiting relatives in the area, but that would have been a very nice place to relax and unwind at the end of the day for anyone that would be spending more of their time at the home. This would definitely be my first choice to check out again for a stay in this area.

Perfect for Family

For my first time renting a vacation home, words cannot express how amazing this place was. The house was beautiful and provided a very relaxing environment for my family and me. It was clean and tidy when we arrived, beautifully decorated and provided all of the basic amenities that we needed for a family of seven. The house was very spacious compared to being cramped into two hotel rooms for 7 days and enjoyed by all. It provided a very cozy and welcoming atmosphere on the Illinois River. My granddaughters loved watching the barges going up and down the river. Mr. Jason was an awesome host. He was easy to contact when needed and provided excellent customer service. Overall, the stay was very memorable, and we had an absolutely fantastic time staying at the house. We would definitely rent again when returning to Illinois.

Grandchildren in Rome

Wonderful location with beautiful views of the Illinois river. The barge traffic was fascinating for our grandchildren and us. Nice having a garage to park in and the bumper pool table, ping pong, and darts got a good workout. Lots of great activities a short drive away. We also enjoyed the large great room for dining, playing games, and chilling on the couch with a good movie. Would highly recommend.
