About this property

Our rustic, nautical cottage perfect for north coast family fun!

Our comfortable 3Br/1Ba house is perfect for North coast family fun. It is fully furnished and ready for your visit. It's been fully renovated and has a rustic nautical charm to it. We have equipment for beach days, hiking days, cozy days, you name it. Adventure is calling your name here, whatever that may be for you!

*Free WiFi, 4K Smart TVs in every bedroom w/ Netflix + DVD player
*10 min to beach, 5 min to zoo + redwoods
*3 miles from old town Eureka

The space:
It has a newly-renovated kitchen with all the amenities, including a new refrigerator and beautiful, locally-made redwood dining room table that easily seats 8.

The living room has a 60” Smart TV set/ with WIFI & Direct TV, and a new sectional couch with 3 push-button recliners built in.

The 3 bedrooms all have comfortable Queen-sized beds and a smart 4K TV in each room.

One bedroom is adjoining the other bedroom by a door (you have to walk through one bedroom to get to the second bedroom.) Perfect for a family with children.

The bathroom has a shower/tub with complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and soap.

Our front, back, and side yard are all fully-fenced in.

The driveway can fit 2 cars easily and street parking is plentiful and free. The yard is outlined with a colorful array of flowers and shrubs. The front of the house has a nice porch for morning coffee, and night-time security lighting as you walk-up. While it's perfect for family fun, there are no cabinet locks in the kitchen or elsewhere. There are a various outlet covers around the house.

The washer and dryer are both available to use, complimentary detergent is available for your use.

Local Activities Include: Crabbing on Humboldt Bay, Sequoia Park & Zoo, Old Town Charm, Humboldt Bay Cruises, Local Music Venues (nearly every night), HSU sporting activities (Arcata is just 8 miles north), Whale watching in Trinidad (just 23 miles north), Beautiful town of Ferndale (20 miles southwest), Beaches, Redwood Forest hikes for all abilities, Summer time Crabs Baseball, and so much more.

Other things to note
As of 11/20/2019, we have now installed (outdoor only) security cameras for the safety of our home. This footage is only looked at during periods of the home not being occupied by a guest of ours. Due to people in the area filling our garbage cans when guests are not present, and to prevent anyone tampering with our home while it's empty, the cameras are a deterrent of this behavior.

Enjoyed our stay!

This house was the perfect landing spot for our visit to Eureka. The hosts thought of everything. The kitchen was stocked, and there were plenty of towels and blankets. We loved sitting on the front porch surrounded by flowering bushes.

Happy Sunflower Cottage

Cottage is lovely, bright, clean, comfortable and stocked with everything a guest will need! Location is great, list of things to do and places to go is a nice touch. Years is large and enjoyable. Five stars!

Cute home with character. Not your standard grey and white VRBO. If you want modern, this is not for you. If you appreciate historic homes, and their quirks, you will enjoy this home.

Short stay in eureka

The house was just as pictured. Had everything and anything you would possibly need on vacation. We were only there a short while then moved up the coast more. Had info in the house of places to visit and eat. The pizza place they recommended was amazing. My only suggestion would be it needs a spring cleaning. Doors baseboards but the regular cleaning was great. And beds were super comfy

1st vrbo

This was our first VRBO so YMMV.. We stayed while exploring the PNW coast forest trails and beaches. The good: location to beaches, the Avenue of the Giants and forest trails north as well. The property was as described, everything was clean, kitchen very well equipped (we didn't actually cook), comfortable beds, nice linens. Could improve but didn't affect our stay: The bathroom could use some counter space and there is a mild 'old home' smell that is to be expected in an older home. There is also no AC, but in our one week stay we may have turned it on once had it been available. The weather in Sept was perfect. We would definitely stay at this location again.

Lovely home, wonderful stay

The house was perfect for us (my mom, sis, and me). Big kitchen, Great beds, and lots of room. Very clean and all the amenities needed for three old ladies with disabilities. We will definitely look to stay again if we ever get back to Eureka!

Paradise Home

Very well redone house. Very comfortable. This be my first trip out of town since medical problems. My sister and her husband and I visit my 87-year-old ant who grew up in McKinleyville. I grew up in Fort Bragg, CA. A great place to share with outhers, due to so much to see there. Thank's Lala and Briana.

A Quaint and Cozy Home Away from Home

Lola's home is the perfect home away from home. The house is inviting, warm, and accommodating with just about everything you may need. Its a perfect place to call home when your away from home. I'm looking forward to staying here again :-)

Relaxed, Rejuvenated in the Redwoods

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sunflower beach cottage. All of the necessities were available and the location was ideal for visiting Arcata, Trinidad, Ferndale and all. Thanks to Lala and the book of recommendations, one of the highlights was our trip to the Redwoods Zoo and Skywalk. We of course took in the beautiful beaches and Redwoods. Just a wonderful, magical, relaxing trip.

Eureka! What a find!

My family of 4 spent the past few days at the house. It was very clean, had space (and TV's) for all of us and was stocked with the basics. From shampoo to laundry to spices and condiments, the house was well prepared for travelers. We really enjoyed our time!

If you are a family who needs some space, this is your place! Our family of 4 had plenty of room to either spread or gather as we wished. Kids loved having their own (connected) rooms—with TVs! The common areas were very comfy (reclining couch and giant TV!!) and conducive to hanging out. The kitchen is big and well stocked with everything you need for a meal at home. And laundry! No one wants to do laundry on vacation, but the washer & dryer were awesome to have. The hosts have thought of everything and provided a wonderful, relaxing time for our family. Would definitely stay again!

Eureka Exploration

This cottage was really clean and nicely laid out for our family. The sideyard and BBQ area was great; we cooked some nice steaks and enjoyed the cool weather. The only downside was that the house is on a pretty active street so there is some road noise, but hey, I still gave it 5 stars! The owners did a great job of communicating with me regarding some access changes. I wouldn't hesitate to book again!

Spring Break 2023

We had a great time exploring the Redwoods and some of the beaches in this area! My husband and I and our three teenaged daughters loved this home. It is very clean, comfortable, well kept and had plenty of space for all of us. We spent a whole day exploring the Redwoods south of Eureka as we drove the Avenue of Giants. And we enjoyed Moonstone Beach and Trinidad State Park Beach. (Both beaches were about 20-25 minutes North of Eureka).
