Welcome to "Shade Mountain Retreat." This is such a lovely private setting, perched on the side of a ridge among the rolling hills of Juniata County!

Watch the wildlife as you sip your coffee on the porch, relax in the hot tub, take a nature walk on the trails (28 private acres to explore!) and enjoy the numerous cozy spaces this property has to offer!

Amazing home and location

I can not say enough good things about this home!It is in a beautiful, peaceful setting. The home is gorgeous! It is well stocked with everything you could think of. The hosts instructions were easy to understand and and he was very prompt with communication. Everything is as described or better! The beds are very comfortable and so are the couches.

The Perfect Getaway!

This was such a great spot for our family vacation. Our group of 11 had such a relaxing, amenity-filled, and spacious getaway! The host, Jake, really went above and beyond with his communication throughout the weekend.The attention to detail with the decoration, furniture, and stocked kitchen, really made our stay extra relaxing. So many places to hang out, lots of chairs couches and tables to puzzle and game!The hot tub and sauna were excellent spaces to unwind and the garage game room was perfect for those who stayed up a bit later than the rest!Can’t recommend this place enough!

Fantastic Home for a Weekend Escape

This home was truly the long weekend getaway of my dreams. It has all the coziness of a cabin weekend with modern amenities including a hot tub and sauna. The house was spacious and clean, had enough room for 6 couples to all have private spaces (with room to spare!) and large "family" dinners, and lots of tucked away spaces for relaxation (for example, we used one loft TV room for football watching and the downstairs TV family room for a nice movie night, plus don't forget the ping pong table in the detached garage and the amazing firepit!). It snowed while we were there and Jake, the host, did a phenomenal job communicating with us and making sure that someone came out to clear the driveway so we could safely head out on check out day. In short, it was perfection and I am so grateful to have had such a wonderful place to getaway with friends. My heart is so full and I am so thankful!

Weekend Getaway

Overall very happy with our stay! Jake is a great host and our group enjoyed the spacious property especially having fun at the ping pong table, relaxing in the hot tub and sauna, making s’mores at the fire pit, and getting our exercise walking through the nature trail…just to name a few!

Perfect secluded getaway for our family!

We really enjoyed this spacious cozy home tucked in the mountains of Juniata Co. It was perfect for our group of 10. Very well furnished. Loved hiking and the hot tub!

Big Family Getaway

Our stay was comfortable and we lacked nothing. Everything we can think of that we may need was provided by the host. He was very responsive to messages. This place was very clean and everything worked. This is a great place to stay and I would definitely use again and recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful Property

This property was amazing and beautiful. There was plenty of room for our entire party to relax and have their own space. The fire pit area offed a great place for all of us to hang out at night. In reviewing the property description I feel that it was represented accurately. If ever in the area again; I would definitely consider returning to this property.

Beautiful cabin

Thank you so much Jake for allowing us to stay at this beautiful cabin, the layout was perfect!! The kids loved the pool table, ping pong table & hot tub!! Every morning we enjoyed watching the deer come to the feeders & the squirrels spinning around trying to get the corn then walking the trails behind the property. The grandkids said they wanted to stay for 100 years😊

Extended family gathering

Shade Mountain Retreat is a delightful place for an extended family gathering such as ours. The property is beautifully furnished ans maintained, with a roomy kitchen, lots of pots and pans, and abundant dishes and silverware. The wide-open central space and looong dining room table were ideal for our group encompassing 3 generations. We particularly liked all the wood paneling. There were lots of fun things to do, from indoor and outdoor games to hiking in the woods. All in all, a very enjoyable week for the entire family.

Great place to unplug

The property is wonderful and we had a great time. There are ample bedrooms for many guests, kitchen has lots of great features (2 ovens, ample plates and silverware) and the pool + ping pong tables make for a great unplugged time. They've done really well with the small touches for this location (e.g. firepit, hummingbird feeder, grill, etc). There's a great hike called 1,000 steps not too far away, which had an awesome view. Would definitely recommend for big families or groups of friends looking for some time away.

Shade Mountain Retreat

Our family had an absolutely amazing three-nights stay at Shade Mountain Retreat, Lack Township, PA. The house was perfect for our extended family of 17. The house had everything to make our stay most enjoyable. It could very well accommodate a group of 20 without compromising on space. The host was very easy to communicate with and was always ready to help. The kitchen was packed. Highly recommended.

Wonderful place for large groups

Beautifully located home with room for the entire family plus more! Perfect for those looking to get away from it all. Heads up there is little to no cell service in the area and if you have a large group the WiFi can have trouble keeping up, works great when not everyone is trying to use a device at the same time :). There is a landline at the home to make calls. Would recommend and visit again should the situation arise.

A wonderful weekend at shade mountain retreat!

Our stay at shade mountain retreat was wonderful from start to finish! A weekend away with friends and family in a beautiful home was just what was needed! The house was beautiful, spacious, extremely clean, and stocked with everything you could think of! I cannot say enough nice things about the host, Jake. He answered every question I had for him almost immediately and went completely out of way to make our stay amazing! A 5 star experience the entire weekend! Thank you, Jake! We plan on coming back next year!

Escape from the hustle & bustle of city life

Wow is the first word that came out of everybody’s mouth. This place accommodated 20+ of our extended family to celebrate my mother in law’s 70th Birthday. The property is immaculate, very private, full stocked and well maintained. Hot tub, pool table, ping pong table and the Basketball hoop were a big hit. The hiking trail is definitely a must. Jake the host was awesome with communication and even had a welcome basket full of goodies. We had a Wonderful time with this property. Will definitely come back or will try Jake’s other property.

Amazing getaway from all the hustle bustle

The property is very nice, well maintained and has a ton of activities to offer to people across all age groups. The pool table, table tennis, hot tub were very useful for a chill day at the property. The kitchen and the bathrooms were clean and well maintained as well. It could easily handle about 20 people, without a problem. The internet was a bit sketchy, but we were forewarned about this by the owner, so no real complains. Will definitely want to come back again! There are a lot of short hikes within 20-30 mins drive range. The
