About this property

The Magical Chez Tree Rest Treehouse perched 35' above the forest floor!

Your hosts, Tom and Lisa Wallace, are happy to welcome you to The Chez Tree Rest, our 2 story treehouse perfectly perched under a heavily canopied scenic hillside. 35' above the forest floor on 2 towering Maple trees. As you walk to the treehouse across the 60' cable bridge you will feel the stress and cares of everyday life melt away. The treehouse is 150 square feet of pure magic and the perfect spot for a romantic getaway high up in the trees.
Our treehouse is located on 20 acres of hardwood forest just outside of the sleepy village of Lafayette, NY - 10 miles south of Syracuse, NY and 24 miles north of Cortland, NY. Just a very short drive to wine country and the Finger Lakes region. As you arrive at the property, you will find a wonderful burgundy gold leaf sign and a gravel road which leads down a 1/4 mile drive to the treehouse. There is a security gate at the beginning of the road which should be open. If it happens to be closed, it is not locked so you will be able to manually push it open.
The treehouse itself is accessed across a 60' cable bridge. There are only a few (7) stone steps which lead down to the bridge and then it is an easy walk up to the treehouse. Below the treehouse is a large, (320 square feet), deck with a fire pit and ample seating. The deck also provides the location of the shower (with on demand hot water) and a propane BBQ grill. There is also a separate fire pit area below the treehouse which has plenty of seating and a stone edged fire ring.
There is a convenient, tiny bathroom in the treehouse with a composting toilet. A couple of years ago, we added full time electricity and potable water as well. There is a small, electric heater for those cooler nights.
There is a great deal of outdoor relaxing space on the treehouse level as well. There is approximately 80 square feet of decking connected to the treehouse. In addition, there is a separate 12' octagon deck that is anchored on a separate tree connected to the main deck by another 30' cable bridge.
For cooking, we provide a propane camp stove and a microwave oven. There is also a BBQ grill on the lower deck below the treehouse. All the pots, pans, Keurig coffee maker, silverware and other utensils you should need will be provided.
Let the trees gently sway you to sleep amidst the soothing sounds of hoot owls and the babbling brook.

Tom and Lisa did an amazing job on this treehouse. They stock everything you would need throughout your trip. It truly is magical and I can’t wait to come back. They were extremely helpful finding the treehouse and showing you around the property. The view on the platform and the outdoor shower was great. Truly an unforgettable experience!

My wife Lisa and I have been happily married for over 36 years. We make our home just 1/4 mile up the hill from the treehouse. Close proximity means that we are almost always available to promptly see to your needs for your stay. At the same time, we respect your privacy and if you don’t need something attended to immediately, you probably won’t see us.

Why they chose this property

When I sold my business 5 years ago, Lisa and I were looking for some land to put a camp on. From the moment I walked down the hill on this property, and saw the spot on the hillside overlooking the brook below, I knew I wanted to build something special on this spot.
I have loved the show Treehouse Masters since it began. The unique location of this spot didn't lend itself to a conventional "camp" built on the ground. We knew we had to look to the trees. I purchased the plans for the treehouse directly from Treehouse Masters, (Be In A Tree). I spent the summer of 2016 building the treehouse. We have loved it ever since. We hope that you will love it as well.

What makes this property unique

Duh...It a treehouse!
