About this property

Stunning Private Compound with Hot Tub, Lake Access, Flat Lawn, Ski in/out

Beautiful, remodeled home has everything you need for a great vacation! The house is over 5,000 square feet with 4 suites and 2 bunk rooms. It sits on two acres adjacent to state lands and is ski in/out from Homewood Mountain Resort. We're also two blocks from our homeowners association private beach. You have it all right here (except for noise and crowds...)

The house and guest house frame the front yard-- perfect for all types of lawn games. The main house has a beautiful covered deck overlooking it. It's where you want to be on those hot summer afternoons when a squall blows through. Note: We do not rent the guest house and it will not be occupied during your stay. You'll have our 2 acre property to yourselves!

Enter the house and there's a mud room and powder room off the entry. Pass into the living/dining/kitchen area, which is all open. The game room offers a bit of seclusion while still allowing you to be part of the action. There's another covered deck off the kitchen where the BBQ is located. In back is a sunny deck with two large picnic tables and the hot tub.

Behind the house is a beautiful year-round creek that cascades down behind the house, giving you great background noise and beautiful views. The rear yard is another great place to hang out, surrounded by forest.

The living room features a huge fireplace that adds to the ambiance of the mountains (and a 50" TV...). The dining room features a custom table that seats 14 people. The kitchen has soaring windows and high ceilings making it a bright and happy place to cook your meals or at least make a cup of coffee...

The game room is probably the most beloved in the house. It's cozy with a game table surrounded by book cases and cabinets filled with games of all types. The window seat at the back is a great place to take a nap, read a book, or listen in to those playing games.

Upstairs is the beautiful master suite with king bed and two other luxurious suites each with queen beds and private baths. The master bath has a free-standing tub, large shower, double vanity, and separate water closet.

On the top floor is the huge bonus room, two bunk rooms, and their private bathroom. The bonus room has a TV area with large sectional and bean bags, and a large table for games, homework, or drawing. There are tons of books on the bookcases and shelves full of games and art supplies.

The main bunk room has 4 twin beds, each with a charging port and reading light. The smaller semi-private room, enclosed by 2 barn doors, has two more twin beds. Their bathroom has a trough sink and separate shower room and water closet-- there's enough room for everyone to be comfortable!

The bottom level has another large private suite with queen bed and private bath. The bottom level also contains the laundry room with oversized machines.

Because the house sits on approximately 2 acres, it's very private. In summer the landscaping is lush and beautiful. In winter it's a wonderland-- much of it sloped perfectly for incredible sled runs and jumps.

The bike path is nearby where you can ride, walk, jog to numerous state parks, restaurants, Tahoe City, or Squaw Valley. You can also walk the path, or through the neighborhood, to Eagle Rock, a local attraction you can climb (more of a steep walk) for incredible views of the lake and mountains.

There are trails nearby to quiet lakes, abandoned gold mines. There are 2 great restaurants within 2 blocks-- The West Shore Cafe with its gorgeous setting on the lake, and Swiss Lakewood with its great Alpine cuisine. And, if you just want coffee or a sandwich, you can go to Obexers Market (and pick up some wine and cheese or dinner for the evening).

We stock the house with the supplies you'll need for your stay (TP, Paper towels, soaps, L'Occitane shampoo, conditioner, body wash, detergents, etc.). We have all the toys, games, towels, and supplies that you'll need.

We hope you'll create some great memories with your family and friends as we have over the years at this beautiful property.

Beautiful home and location
Beautiful home and great location. The house has everything that you could want or need. The host was responsive, informative and also provided a lot of suggestions on what to do and restaurants in the area. We would definitely go back and hope to make it an annual thing. Highly recommend!

Amazing Property
Rented this for a family getaway. Eight adults and four kids under 10. Absolutely amazing from the house itself to everything available from dishes and supplies to games. House has great decor and probably the best appliances and supplies of any rental we have ever gotten. Equally impressive was the communication with Vince the owner. Very responsive and accommodating. Rental is quiet and located between North and South Tahoe; easy 30 minute drive to get to either. Usually do 3-4 rentals a year. This was the best rental and best owner we have dealt with. Definitely recommend.

Beautiful Home - Amazing Host
First off, Vincent the host could not have been more accommodating. He provided a wealth of local information both prior to and during our stay. Quite simply, the finest host I have worked with on VRBO. Thank you! The property is beautiful and well maintained. The setting along a rushing creek is private, but still close to the lake. Our large, multi-generational group had plenty of space to relax, sleep, and play. We ate every meal at the house and the kitchen was very well appointed. Only wish we could’ve stayed longer than 3 days. We would absolutely rent this property again!!

A perfect place
There is not much more I can say above and beyond the title. The house is in a stunning location, beautifully decorated but not at all precious, and really close to everything we wanted to do - especially skiing at Homewood which is a great, user-friendly throwback of a ski resort. The kitchen was where we did most meals and had every dish and pan and implement we could want, but every restaurant we hit - Za’s, Sunnyside, and Swiss Lakewood - was also great. The beds were wonderful - and we have some really picky (maybe even annoying) members of our crew. And lastly, the sledding on the hill into which the house is built was better than anything we would have paid for. Can’t recommend this home enough. Thank you so very much.

About the host

We have had a home on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe for over 25 years. We first fell in love with the area during the winter but grew to love the summers even more. We decided to double-down on the area in 2012 when we purchased this home (at the time abandoned).

We love architecture and design and had a great time completing this home that had been boarded up for three years and was ripped down to studs. We had a great time furnishing it (although it's a big house and took a ton of furniture, and pillows, and towels, and sheets, and artwork, and everything else!)

We love nature and are both very involved with protecting and enhancing national parks and other natural areas. Vince is also now very involved in the long-term protection and restoration of Lake Tahoe and the region.

We live in San Francisco with our daughter. Our son is in college in Chicago. We all love to meet at our family retreat in Tahoe. We hope that you will build great memories there as we have over the years.

Why they chose this property

The house sits on a beautiful property, nearly 2 acres, at the foot of Homewood Resort. A beautiful year-round creek tumbles past the property creating the most peaceful sound. It's very private and quiet.

The property is a few blocks from our homeowner's beach, which provides great lake access during the summer months. We are also walking distance to two great restaurants, West Shore Cafe and Swiss Lakewood, as well as a small grocery store and deli. You can rent boats, jet skis, bikes, and paddle boards all just a short walk away. We're also on the bike path that can take you to Meeks Bay, Palisades (formerly Squaw Valley) and Tahoe City.

The house itself is really beautiful and has a great "old Tahoe" feel. The front porch is a great place to relax and watch the kids play lawn games or sled down the hills (or have a nice cocktail with some nice gourmet cheeses from the nearby store...) The patio around the fire pit is my favorite place to be as the sun is passing behind the amber maple-- you can sit in its doppled shade and have an nice cocktail and cheese (you might be noticing a theme for us...) At night the fire pit is a great place to gather for s'mores or just that extra warmth to take the chill out of the evening.

The lawn isn't big enough for a football game but it's great for bocce ball or croquet or badminton. We have tons of lawn games at the house as well as horse shoes which we setup between the house and the guest house.

The hot tub is a great place to relax after a long day of adventures. I keep the jets off so the sound of the creek is all you hear. The back deck makes a great place for a large outdoor dinner.

We built the house to be a place for our family and for friends to get together. The dining table has hosted many large dinners. The game room is always filled with people playing games day and night. The bonus room upstairs gives the kids a separate space to hang out and each bedroom suite is a perfect retreat. It's a great place to be!

What makes this property unique

There are many beautiful homes around the lake but I think there are a few things that make this home really special. It's a large home with a modern floor plan designed for a large family or friends group. Each room is a suite and then there is the bonus room and bunk rooms for kids, teens, or unattached bachelors... There are many spaces where people can do their own thing while either being completely alone or on the edge of the action. The large custom-made dining table can host large dinner gatherings. You'll have lots of great time together without falling all over each other.

The property is pretty unique. With almost two acres, you'll have privacy and peace to enjoy yourselves-- the loudest noise being the waters of our creek tumbling past the house. The slope is perfect for sledding and the trees and landscaping are beautiful year-round. We have easy lake access nearby and are on the ski resort and walking distance to great restaurants.

We have always loved the West Shore. It's the quiet part of the lake with fewer hotels, large state parks, and some of the best restaurants. There are tons of hiking and biking trails nearby, beautiful beaches (my favorite is Meek's Bay). You can rent boats, jet skis, bikes, paddle boards (we have 2 but for larger groups...) all a short distance away. Everything you need is close by.

We always hear from people that this house isn't a typical Airbnb or VRBO home and it's not. We built it for our family and we maintain it for our family. We try to stock it with everything you'll need to have a great stay and we're always excited to give whatever tips will help our guests enjoy themselves. We love sharing the lake, the West Shore, and our home with our guests.
