About this property
THE OLD DAIRY, pet friendly, with open fire in Church Stretton
This ground floor barn conversion, pet friendly cottage on a working farm sleeps 4 people and can be found in the village of Stapleton near Church Stretton in Shropshire. Within driving distance are the historic towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow.
The Old Dairy, as its name suggests, was originally built as part of a dairy house. It has been sympathetically restored to offer accommodation for 4 people, retaining much of its original character through features such as exposed beams and the original cattle stall, which now partitions the lounge from the dining room. The accommodation is arranged across one level and the property has a rear patio, from which to enjoy a spot of outdoor-dining. Visitors also get shared use of a games room, which includes a snooker table and a netted trampoline. There is plenty of parking and the local amenities are merely a stroll away. Please note that the property is for holiday lets only and does not accept worker bookings
Amenities: Electric heaters with woodburner in sitting room. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, smart TV, DVD, WiFi. Shared use of washing machine and tumble dryer, Fuel, power & initial supply of wood for woodburner inc. in rent. Bed linen inc. in rent. Cot & highchair available. Front patio with furniture, small rear walled patio with furniture. Ample off road parking. Sorry, no smoking. 1 small, well-behaved dog welcome by arrangement. Note: The Games area is shared with the owner's other property 1146.
Please note: Your booking must end before or on the Saturday after your check-in.
Region: A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Town: Church Stretton's glorious setting in a narrow valley earned it the name 'Little Switzerland' from the Victorians who tried to establish it as a spa. It has some of the most dramatic and spectacular hills in the British Isles; Long Mynd guards the West and the escarpment of Wenlock Edge lies to the East. Caer Caradoc, formed by volcanic ash and lava over 560 million years ago, once had an Iron Age hill-fort on its summit. The geology of the area is intriguing and has earned the hills acclaim as a Site of Special Scientific Interest as well as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Ragleth Hill allows you to take in stunning 360 degree views, taking in the Long Mynd, Caer Caradoc, the Lawley, Wenlock Edge and the Clee Hills. Church Stretton also draws visitors for its famous 18-hole golf course, which claims to be the highest in England.
