Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
Town: Situated just 10 miles from the main route to Skye is the small coastal village of Glenelg. Set on the shores of the Sound of Sleat, the village is surrounded by incredible, rugged scenery and has preserved its unspoilt beauty and sense of isolation, despite being within easy reach of the area's tourist attractions. Overlooking Skye, Glenelg is situated on a route once used by drovers from the island, crossing over the narrow Kyle Rhea straits to bring their cattle to market. Just a couple of miles away, on the Arnisdale road, visitors can find Sandaig bay - referred to as ‘Camusfearna’ by Gavin Maxwell in his novel Ring of Bright Water. There is even a cairn for his beloved otter, Edal. Glenelg is also home to the best preserved Pictish Brochs on mainland Scotland and is the site of the ruins of Bernera Barracks - an 18th Century garrison for English government troops that still stands next to the village.

Have a super week exploring this little bit of the West Coast. House was spacious with spectacular views but could have done with a little TLC.
Loved Glenelg. Want to move there.
The cottage must have one of the best views in Glenelg! It is spacious, well set out and easy to spend time in on (the inevitable) rainy days.
The local shop and pub are both a short walk away and there is also a great wee local micro-brewery. The roads are quiet for cycling and plenty of good walks nearby.
The owner was in contact to let us know the grass cutter would be attending and she could not have been friendlier.
I have no hesitation in recommending this property!
We have just spent 2 weeks in this comfortable property. It delivered everything it promised, including views that took your breath. Lots of wildlife to see, and at night you could hear the gentle lapping of the water. If you need to unwind then this is the place. Well equipped kitchen, meant cooking was easy. We used the log burner, which we found that one good fire a day kept the place warm all day and all though October we were never cold. Only negative was that both double beds were not the most comfortable, but then nothing is like your own bed! All in all highly recommended.
Very comfortable property with most amazing views and everything we needed for our stay.
