Not quite up to standards
We’ve stayed in different Hochatown cabins 4-5 times in the past and have always been impressed with regard to cleanliness, communication, and overall condition of the properties. This cabin didn't quite meet those standards.
- Directions were inaccurate. It said it was the last house on the left. It wasn’t and there was no signage out front.
- Wifi was spotty at best, and unencrypted
- Backyard furniture needed a deep clean. Texted owners, no response, but cleaners came out next day.
- Dishwasher was broken. Notified owner, he sent maintenance person who couldn’t do anything about it.
- Dishwashing soap (since there was no dishwasher) was nearly empty. We asked the cleaning person and instead of giving us a new bottle she just filled our bottle halfway. Only one dish towel available and nearly out of paper towels.
- two drinking glasses were broken on arrival.
- fireplace remotes didn’t work
- both propane tanks were empty
- light bulbs needed replacement throughout the house, including the refrigerator.
- ice dispenser didn’t work
- bath towels felt like they came from a highway motel
- loft beds have no safety barrier to avoid falling down the ladder hole. Also, there was food debris on one of the beds
- no smoke detectors in either bedroom - potential code (and/or Vrbo) violation
The whole house just gave us the impression that the owners are cutting costs. It was disappointing, but we still had a good time and enjoyed the eclipse. We just wouldn’t stay here again.
