The Wee Hauf - cosy, modern, excellent location for exploring Scotland
Unusual bright little house, cosy and comfortable, in small village near historic city of Dunfermline. The Wee Hauf offers you a modern open-plan living space, shower-room, and one bedroom opening directly onto a sun-trap patio and secluded private garden. Lie in bed and listen to the birds sing!
This is an ideal location from which you can explore the many attractions of the ancient Kingdom of Fife, from the golfing heritage of the Auld Course at St. Andrews, to the art gallery in Kirkcaldy, hometown of Jack Vettriano. There are plenty of local events, theatre and arts, sporting activity and motor racing at the Racewall and Knockhill to enjoy. More than lots of things to do, there's plenty of peace and quiet, so you can relax in Fife's beautiful countryside and coastline, including the Lomond Hills and Aberdour's Silver Sand beach. There's a convenience store in the village and with retail and leisure parks nearby, you don't have far to go to shop, eat out, see a film or go bowling
Just 20min from Edinburgh, the Wee Hauf is a short hop to the buzz of Edinburgh, for Hogmany or the world renown Festivals, as well as providing a great base to get out and explore Scotland. Dunfermline has excellent transport links by bus and rail, and the Wee Hauf is close to J3 on the M90. In under an hour, you can be in Perth, gateway to the Highlands, visit the C.R.Mackintosh designed tearooms in Glasgow, or relax in Peebles, amongst rolling Borders hills and salmon rivers.

Betrokken eigenaar heeft een heel net mooi huisje te huur. We voelden ons erg welkom en alles was aanwezig in t huisje. Mooi uitgangspunt voor dagjes weg.
Wonderful stay , nothing was a problem if needing anything and questions were answered prompt .
Fantastic stay , clean and everything catered for felt like a home from home , nothing was a problem would definately recommend it to friends and family .
Well presented , clean & tidy, all you need for holiday accommodation. Friendly owner glad to help. Only drawback on road parking, opposite cottage on very busy road.

Clean, cosy, warm cottage with everything needed for a self-catering holiday. Owner lives next door. Available if required. Located in a busy road, with no restaurants nearby, although there is a fish and chip shop a few minutes walk away. However, close to Park & Ride for trips into Edinburgh, about 45 minutes journey time.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Wee Hauf, glad you had a comfortable stay. For information, there are several restaurants just a mile or so away by the cinema and the No.19 bus that stops just 100yds away goes there frequently. Many thanks, Fenella

Cosy, fully equipped, very nice sun room and back yard.
We had a great time, the cottage is very clean and fully equipped.
It was warm and sunny so we had the sun/bedroom nicely lit up.
Crossgates has a great fish and chips place a short walk down the street. and it is quite varied with fish, pizza, calzones, and other foods.
A corner 'mini mart' very near that.
The bus stops for both directions are very close, and it was fairly easy to get to Edinburgh.
The Host was very friendly and helpful.
We also highly recommend this place.

For us it was a great place to get acquainted with Scotland.
The cottage is good, we could not hear the traffic in the bedroom. Clean sanitair, well equipped kitchen. Everything worked.
One of the advantages is the bus stop near by in the street, and the Halbeath Park and Ride at a 10 minutes walk from the doorstep.
We went to Edinburg and Glasgow by bus. On a mega card. We found the main information (time tables) at the cottage. The WIFI was also very helpful. For Glasgow we paid a little extra for it was out the Fife zone +. For us it was a nice way to get into the spirit of Scotland. The big plus for me was that I didn't have to drive (left) so it made it very relaxing!

An immaculate and well equipped home away from home
We had a very comfortable stay at this property, which we booked as a base from which to visit family close by. The interior was immaculate and felt very spacious - it is a bit like the Tardis - looks small from the outside but is much bigger inside!!
The kitchen was very well equipped, with a large freezer and a range of bits and pieces that are usually conspicuous by their absence in self catering properties eg sharp knives (!!!), a range of chopping boards, bin bags etc. A lot of thought has obviously gone into making guests comfortable.
The garden outside is a wonderful bonus - a sun trap, with patio doors leading from the bedroom outside. The weather was lovely during our stay so we really appreciated the outside space.
As we have family in the area, we would very happily stay.

About the host
Hosted by Fenella
I've been hosting for several years, making the annexe (I'd converted what used to be a shop!) available to others, after my dad and I agreed that he had settled really well where he was and didn't need it. As the annexe is self-contained, guests have their privacy but I like the chance to find out what interests them so I can give them some ideas on where to visit. After travelling to several far-flung places, I'm staying closer to home now so I can spend time with my grandchild.
Why they chose this property
A location that will let you quickly get places to enjoy the best Fife and Scotland has to offer.
What makes this property unique
I invested a lot of time and effort in the property - it was to be my Dad's home and going by comments (see below) it seems others appreciate the high standard I achieved and maintain.
