Quiet home on horse farm, halfway between Paducah & Wickliffe. Close to 60 & 286
Built originally in the 40s by my father-in-law for his new bride, this home raised my husband and his four siblings. The property has been owned by this family since the 1880s. It was a general farm, then a dedicated dairy farm until the early 1990s. When the dairy operation sold out, we bought the home place and some surrounding acreage. My daughter and her husband now live down near the barns and manage it as an equine facility. We live a few miles away. The Redhouse is between Highways 60 and 286, easily accessible from highway 2532 (County Line Rd), which connects the two state highways. The house has a Ring camera at the front door and the side door. No cameras inside.

The Red House is a peaceful place in the country. It is the cleanest, neatest and most thoughtfully furnished vrbo house I have stayed in! I look forward to staying there again! Thank you Jane!
Everything was so easy and just perfect. Breakfast and coffee/tea/juice were a great additional touch which we appreciated fully. Comfy bed and furnishings, too. It's so quiet out in this lovely country house, though not far from town either--just perfect!
This was our second time staying at this property while home to visit family nearby in Paducah. Wonderful location in the country and such lovey home. Highly recommend this property!
Second time staying. Still have all positives to say! Wonderfully quiet place for a get away weekend. Well stocked kitchen and items in refrigerator to use for making breakfast included. Details have been thought about for guests. Host is very responsive!
This has been one of the best bed and breakfast places I have stayed. The hostess was kind and helpful. There were fresh eggs on the refrigerator and English Muffins in the freezer when we arrived. The fridge had some basics. The dishes and pots and pans were there for basic cooking. There were spices and olive oil spray available. It is a rural location. Wonderful for a peaceful and quiet get away. If you want to ve in the bustle of a city, this is not your place. If you want to wake up to the singing of the birds and beauty of trees and grass, this is a wonderful place to stay. We enjoyed a country stroll down the lane each evening and were greated by the few neighbors as we walked by. It was a wonderful respit from the rush of everyday life.
We have been staying there for years. Always been a great place, great host and just an awesome place to relax and get back to nature. We will be back.
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, I have been in Ballard County since 1979. I’ve been horse crazy my entire life. Now retired from running the computer lab at the elementary school for 25 years, i have pursued some carpentry skills in addition to being a gramma. Still horse crazy, although riding has been on hold for various reasons.
Why they chose this property
A quiet (unless farm equipment is moving!) rural neighborhood, the Redhouse is a serene break from busy town life.
What makes this property unique
My daughter’s horses can be seen on several sides of the house, along with glimpses of wildlife as well. The road is good for daily walks.
