Hi Jack, Claudia and delightful kids
I imagine you are back in the UK now. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for your review. Yes the night markets are a great feature of our area and each village night market is different - different atmosphere, food and music, so worth trying a few. We would love to see you back in Montaigu at some point.
Hope the return to work and school is not too difficult!
Jan & John
We had a brilliant stay here with our 2 children (4 and 6). The gite worked really well for our family, the space was perfect, really clean and comfortable, and the pool was perfect. Jan and John were incredibly helpful and welcoming, giving us lots of tips on night markets and other lovely local things to do. Wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a lovely week at Montaigu de Quercy. Converted barn was nicely furnished and very comfortable. We were there a week and Jan and Jon were very helpful with ideas for days out. You are surrounded by lovely countryside, quiet roads and beautiful villages and towns to explore - we will go back.

Fantastic property. Hosts are great and super helpful. The gite is so well equipped and one of the most comfortable gites we have stayed in. The pool area was totally private and well cared for, outside eating space and BBQ perfect for some family time. Thanks both for a great Holiday, so great we will be back next year 😀

Hi Sarah
Glad you made it back safely to the UK. We loved having you, Darren and your girls stay here and we look forward to seeing you again next year... The kittens will have grown by then! Show off that fantastic tan and make everyone at work jealous! Best wishes. Jan & John
We had a very peaceful and relaxing stay in a lovely gite. Jan and John were great hosts and very hospitable. There is a small supermarket a short drive into Montagui which we found useful. Lauzerte and Montcuq are definitely worth a visit especially the Sunday market in Montcuq. Thank you Jan and John for providing a wealth of information about France.

Hi Jo. Thank you for your kind words. I hope Fran got home safely and that the other Fran has joined you en vacances! We too love the markets here. I don't think you saw Montaigu's market on Saturday morning - smaller than Montcuq's but it has everything you need. John and I are very pleased you enjoyed your stay and we wish you every success in finding a suitable property.

We would go back with no hesitation. The gite was well appointed, very comfortable ( plenty of room for 4 adults ) in a beautiful location. The peace and views were glorious. Jan and John were wonderful hosts. You couldn't help but feel a sense of calm in the grounds and pool.

Relaxing and welcoming
The barn was extremely well furnished, maintained and of high cleanliness. All rooms were spacious and every detail had been considered. Jan and John, the owners were flexible and accommodating. The owners invited us to a local music event in the small village where the food and locals were lovely.
I certainly would recommend this place and would have no hesitation about returning.

Filiol Gite owned by Jan & John Emery. Montaicue de Quercy
This converted barn was absolutely amazing. Every detail had been thought about in the conversion, furnishings & equipment. Having 2 en suite bedrooms was very useful & the living area was very large & spacious.
It was on the outskirts of the village which had all shops & restaurants needed. The surrounding countryside & villages were beautiful, quiet & unspoiled.
The immediate surroundings owned by Jan & John were delightful & included a beautiful swimming pool & large seating area just outside
our front door.
Finally Jan & John themselves were delightful, very welcoming, full of useful information & always very very helpful.
Altogether a wonderful holiday. We may well be back.

Fantastic Gite, brilliant location - couldn't have been better!!!
Had an amazing family holiday. We wanted somewhere to relax and chill out and this was the perfect place. We were so relaxed we had to force ourselves to go out!! We hadn't been to this area of France before and we were really impressed by how beautiful and peaceful it is. The gite is beautiful, has everything you could possibly need, the pool is fab and Jan and John are wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble - they really make you feel welcome. Mustn't forget the 3 gorgeous cats - especially Casa ❤️. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to come back.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in this beautiful part of France (yes we know we are biaised!). Casa was hanging around your gite all day on Sunday. Missing you (and the bacon etc etc). You asked when the sunflowers are out - from mid July to mid august is the best time to catch them in bloom. WE look forward to seeing you all again soon. Jan

Fantastic holiday gite!
We stayed in Jan and John's gite for nearly 4 weeks before moving into our new home in the South of France. This gite is lovely, with a very spacious open plan lounge and kitchen and beautifully beamed high ceilings. It was well equipped and had the vast majority of everything we needed for our stay there. If there was something else we required, Jan and John were always on hand to offer it to us. The gite had a fantastic log burning stove which came in useful for the colder nights and 2 en suite bedrooms. The outside space was great with a large terrace to eat on, and it was right beside a beautiful pool. Whilst we were staying there our family joined us for a week and we made use of the lovely one bedroom gite which is discreetly attached to ours. This worked really well and would be great for anyone with an extended family. All in all a great holiday cottage with everything you could ask for, including lovely hosts.

This time of year is delightful with all the blossoms and spring lushness - soon the grass will become brown (but at least less mowing required!).
Wishing you all the best

idyllic hilltop gite and pool near large village with range of facilities
The gite is a renovated barn with super thick walls, so stays cool in the summer heat. The accomodation is spacious with a large open-plan layout ; the kitchen area is at one end with patio doors out to the pool at the other. The patio is west facing for afternoon and evening sun. The living space is comfortably furnished with dining table, sofas, tv and plenty of storage. The owners have made available a very wide range of books, games and dvds; there is something for all ages and stages. Lighting inside the gite is a particular strength with a range of fittings which well serve the substantial width of the main living area. Bedrooms and bathrooms are eqipped with everything you could require ; the fittings are modern and operate efficiently.
Over 20 years of visiting gites in various areas of France we would honestly say that this is the most spacious and the best resourced.
The owners are extremely friendly without being in any way instrusive. They can supply plenty of information and tips about the area. Jan's homemade jam was a particular highlight. During the week of hot weather during our stay John put up night cover / mosquito cover for the bedroom windows and offerred the use of fans. All in all, they are committed to making your stay as pleasant as possible. A lovely hospitable couple.

About the host
Hosted by Jan Emery & John Blaus
Jan and John moved from Doncaster in South Yorkshire to Montaigu de Quercy in 2014 and have loved every minute! Married for 17 years, we wanted to get away from our line of work in the UK (education and training) and live a "simple life" with no travelling! The no travelling is true - the simple life not! We have got fully involved with the local society - members of the International Club, the local Am Dram team, the gardening club, the Gourmet Club and any other social activity we can. Jan is a vegetarian - John is not. Vegetarians are not particularly well catered for in this part of France. We do offer to cater for guests evening meals if required.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with the property for its location and the fabulous woodwork in the ceiling. The gite certainly has a wow factor when you see it for the first time. We are located just outside Montaigu de Quercy, a short 15 minute walk down shady footpaths. Montaigu has all the necessary amenities you require for a holiday with a choice of 4 restaurants. The gite is part of a former ferme auberge (farm restaurant) so the location has a large room which we use for a host of different social events including play readings
What makes this property unique
The only gite we know of with 2 bedrooms with en suite facilities
