About this property

Classic 1900's Rocky Mountain Retreat

Our house was build circa 1909 with the original name Cobblehurst. It was the first homestead built in the area now know as No Name and is situated in prime position to maximize views of spectacular Glenwood Canyon. It is one of the first ever Craftsman Houses built in Colorado and retains many of the original features including river rock porch & fireplace & paneled ceilings. The setting is stunning in the middle of the Colorado Rockies but only a 3 minute drive into downtown Glenwood Springs which has many restaurants, shops and activities including the world famous Colorado Hot Springs.

Historic but also fully updated with a spectacular master suite which includes Steam Room, Sauna and Step Machine, The accommodation is composed of the living room, separate dining room, 4 bedrooms (one of which is the master suite); 2 bathrooms; Kitchen and Laundry room. Outdoor space includes a classic river rock porch; outdoor fire-pit; outdoor dining seating.

Sitting on 1.5 acres you have your own private forest which also includes a a large fenced in area for dogs. From the house there are multiple walks/biking trails including No Name Creek/Jesse Weaver Trail; Colorado River walk; and Glenwood
Springs trail. Also very close to Hanging Lake which is one of the most amazing scenic areas in Colorado. World class fly fishing on your door step; along with white water rafting & zip lining. Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is just minutes away. It is is America's only mountain top them park and amazing place to visit with astounding thrill rides for the whole family.

For the winter No Name is nicely positioned,, less than an hour from Aspen and Beaver creek. Nearest skiing is even closer (<30 minutes) at Sunlight mountain which is a great option for family skiing at a fraction of the price of the larger resorts.

About the host

Hosted by Steve Buchanan

Host profile image
Steve and Janett moved to Aspen Colorado in 2008 from Northern CA Both were born and raised in Scotland and moved the US in 1994. All 3 children were born in CA but have been raised in beautiful Colorado. They were looking for some time for the perfect home to host short term rental and couldn't believe their luck when this marvelous old home came on the market in November 2019. Being from Scotland they loved older homes and the history that came with them. Steve worked very hard with the historical society of colorado to have it as a listed home.

Why they chose this property

We love the canyon for the vies, wildlife and serenity, yet it is a 3 minute drive to downtown, where you can enjoy some wonderful restaurants and shops.

What makes this property unique

It was the first house built in No Name and was originally and apple orchard. Although he house was built in 1919 it has only had 4 owners. It is truly loved by everyone in the community.
