In the early 20th century, the French Count Joseph-Gabriel Breitbach purchased the plot of land to build a “Maison de Maitre”, along with a factory, like the one he owned in Argentina, which he hoped, would boost the local economy. The construction of the Château started in late 1911, but being interrupted by the first world war, it wasn't completed until 1918. The Chateau was then sold in 1934 and was eventually purchased by an Australian couple in 2014 . It is now known by locals as "Chateau d’Australie."
For the last 10 years, the owners have enjoyed the Chateau with their family and friends and are delighted to share it with guests when they are away. They love the village life, bike riding, horse riding and hiking in the Pyrenees. In the summer there are many markets and festivals and in the winter, there is skiing just 45 minutes away.
