About the host
Hosted by Makayla Palms
We both grew up in NZ and went to school there. As it happened we both became school teachers, had our OE and returned home where we met and married
We taught for many years and gave up teaching in NZ to build Makayla Palms. We built and landscaped from the ground up and it was all a labour of love.

Why they chose this property
The land was given to John as he is part Cook Islander and for him it was coming back to half of his roots having been brought up in NZ. It gave both of us the opportunity to immerse ourselves with the people and their culture and for John there was a sense of "coming home"

It has been an interesting journey and we have learned so much.
We love that we have a local couple who doing our housekeeping and gardening and have taken ownership with us on the journey.
The icing on the cake are all the wonderful guests that come to stay and hearing their stories and seeing the pleasure that they get from being on such a wonderful piece of paradise and engaging with locals
