Like going back in time in the BEST way! Loved all the vinyl records and record player! The hosts were the BEST! And their dog, Mello, gave me my dog fix while I was missing my own.
Friendly host and super helpful. The cottage is wonderful. Set in a different time period but functions perfectly. The grounds are also very nice and well maintained. Loved the Wekas and the cows next door.
Teapot Cottage was a great place to stay. It fitted our adult family of five comfortably and provided us a unique experience with a record player and classic board games and books for entertainment. The host Dan showed us over his property and pointed us in the right direction for river walks nearby. We were sorry to only be there for the one night.
This cottage was exactly like the listing, and was the perfect base for some exploring. Within easy reach of Okarito Lagoon, which is a definite must see!
A great spot and very friendly hosts. Loved the record player and puzzles. Was just what we needed after a long day skiing the day before. Thank you Kath and Dan 🙂
A memorable place to stay, a great base for exploring the outdoors, with helpful and friendly hosts. The kids loved having a bath under the stars, and the cottage was well equipped with everything we needed.
Lovely peaceful stay in a quirky nostalgic cottage. We absolutely loved it!! The kids had a lot of fun with the retro games and toys and we especially liked the record player.
Great cottage and memories made! Exactly as described - and has got our teens out of their comfort zones. Was great to get them to experience an old skool way of living! Highlight was the hot springs down the road. Really appreciated the tour of the property and have recommended the cottage to friends already.

Thanks for the recommendations. Glad to hear teens enjoying it!
Beautiful, cosy cottage. Immaculately kept and period furnishings were on point. Just enough to make the stay comfortable, while being a wonderfully relaxing escape! Highly recommended.
The cottage was just as we expected and we were able to relax and have lots of fun dressing up as well as exploring the area. The beds were comfy and warm.

About the host
Hosted by Kath and Dan
We are a freedom-loving family of four, plus one friendly stick-mad dog and one fat cat. We live on the "Wildside" - hunting, fishing, growing, beekeeping and brewing - trying to be as self-sufficient as we can. We are usually happy to give a tour of the rest of our homestead to our guests if they are interested.
Why they chose this property
Hari Hari is an outdoor-enthusiasts dream - with great opportunities for hiking, biking, boating, kyaking, fishing, hunting, star-gazing and hot-spring soaking. With views to die for! It also has a rich pioneering heritage and Teapot Cottage is part of this history.
What makes this property unique
This truly authentic "theme" cottage is an experience, not just a place to stay. It is a wonderful spot to bring the kids or grandkids to show them what it was like in the "good old days" - whether its taking photos of each other in the vintage dress-ups while having an old-fashioned tea party; playing board games by the fire; or reading them stories you were read as a child. Alternately, you and your loved one can reminisce to the tunes of classic vinyl on the record player; enjoy eating in the garden surrounded by stunning rural/bush/mountain views; star-gaze together while soaking in the fabulous fire-bath or the natural mineral hot-springs aside the local river. So if it sounds like "your cup of tea", turn off your phone to disconnect from the modern world and step back into a simpler era.
