About this property

Teapot Cottage (cute and cozy 1950's time-warp)

STEP BACK IN TIME in our charming 1950's "grandma's cottage", a LIVING MUSEUM of a simpler era, before tvs, microwaves and computers. No WiFi, so UNPLUG and ENJOY the vintage memorabilia and cosy fire.
WALK the beautiful Hari Hari Coastal Walkway or TAKE A DAY TRIP - 50 mins south to Glaciers, 50 mins north to Hokitika. EXPLORE natural HOT-SPRINGS within a short drive and walk or SOAK and STARGAZE in the cottage garden FIRE-BATH with stunning farm/bush/mountain views.

Lots of classic books, board games, puzzles, and vintage dress-ups for fun on those wet West Coast days.
Kid-friendly - cot, highchair, toys, swings and bikes.
An authentic cottage with old-fashioned quirks, such as woolen carpets and a bathroom just outside, through the laundry.

2 kms from Hari Hari village - an area of great hiking, fishing, hunting, lake swimming and boating.

Natural Hot Springs in the riverbed just a 5 minute drive and 15 minute walk away - one of the Coast's best kept secrets.

Genuine West Coast hospitality from hosts who live next door but will respect your privacy.

About the host

Hosted by Kath and Dan

Host profile image
We are a freedom-loving family of four, plus one friendly stick-mad dog and one fat cat.
We live on the "Wildside" - hunting, fishing, growing, beekeeping and brewing - trying to be as self-sufficient as we can. We are usually happy to give a tour of the rest of our homestead to our guests if they are interested.

Why they chose this property

Hari Hari is an outdoor-enthusiasts dream - with great opportunities for hiking, biking, boating, kyaking, fishing, hunting, star-gazing and hot-spring soaking. With views to die for! It also has a rich pioneering heritage and Teapot Cottage is part of this history.

What makes this property unique

This truly authentic "theme" cottage is an experience, not just a place to stay. It is a wonderful spot to bring the kids or grandkids to show them what it was like in the "good old days" - whether its taking photos of each other in the vintage dress-ups while having an old-fashioned tea party; playing board games by the fire; or reading them stories you were read as a child.
Alternately, you and your loved one can reminisce to the tunes of classic vinyl on the record player; enjoy eating in the garden surrounded by stunning rural/bush/mountain views; star-gaze together while soaking in the fabulous fire-bath or the natural mineral hot-springs aside the local river.
So if it sounds like "your cup of tea", turn off your phone to disconnect from the modern world and step back into a simpler era.
