About this property
Cape Cottage - Walk To Oneroa Beach
Summary:
Cape Cottage in Oneroa is a bright, beautifully presented home set just above the beach, an easy, comfortable base for families and couples wanting relaxed island living close to the village.
The Space:
Set just above Oneroa Beach, Cape Cottage is bright, open, and designed for easy island living. The home has been thoughtfully updated while keeping the character of a classic Waiheke cottage, with timber floors, whitewashed walls, and wide windows that bring in natural light and sea air.
The open plan living, kitchen, and dining area forms the heart of the home. A gas fireplace keeps the space comfortable in cooler months, while glass doors open to generous decks with outdoor seating, a barbecue, and a cottage garden. The indoor and outdoor areas flow together naturally, making it easy to move between the kitchen, deck, and garden throughout the day.
The layout suits families and small groups well. The main bedroom has a king bed, the second bedroom has a queen, and the third bedroom has two single beds. A mezzanine level adds extra sleeping space with a double bed and is accessed by a ladder, making it best suited to older children or adults comfortable with ladder access. Two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen make the home practical for longer stays.
With spaces that invite you to slow down, Cape Cottage is well suited to morning coffee on the deck, beach days just below the house, and quiet evenings by the fire.

The Neighborhood:
Cape Cottage sits just moments from Oneroa Beach and the heart of the village.
For breakfast or coffee, Wai Kitchen offers sea views and daytime dining, while Akito provides modern, plant-focused meals. For lunch, Solar Eating House and Fenice are easy village options. Dinner choices include The Oyster Inn for coastal dishes or Fenice for relaxed Italian dining.
Wineries close by include Mudbrick and Cable Bay, both offering long lunches, tastings, and views over the gulf. For something more casual and family-friendly, The Heke serves wood-fired dishes, local beer, and has a lively garden bar.
Boutiques, galleries, and essentials are all within walking distance, keeping most of your stay car-free.
Getting Around:
Getting around from Cape Cottage is simple. The Matiatia passenger ferry terminal is about five minutes’ drive away. The local bus routes (50A and 50B) connect the ferry to Oneroa Village, with a stop a short walk from the house.
Much of what you need is within walking distance, but if you’re exploring further, buses run regularly to beaches, vineyards, and the Ostend Market on Belgium Street (Saturdays 8am–1pm). Taxis, e-bikes, and hire cars are also available, and there is off-street parking at the property.
