There aren't too many Post Offices offering accommodation in New Zealand, however this historic building is now in private ownership and had been lovingly restored to offer a memorable experience for travellers to Amberley. Many features suggestive of it's previous function have been retained whilst creating a modern and comfortable place of rest for the holiday maker. There is space to spread out. Nooks and crannies abound for quiet reflection, reading, writing and browsing. Enjoy a game of pool or chess, or just laze away the day in the private garden under the deck umbrella. Explore the region during the day: numerous walkways in the nearby Mt. Grey recreation area; golf down at the beach; cycle trails; steam train in the Weka Pass; and , of course, all the wine tours and tasting that the famous Waipara Valley can offer. Special conditions: Smoking allowed outside only.
Extras: Cleaning (included); Linen (included);

Great location, close enough to dip into Chch if wanted, but perfectly positioned to enjoy all North Canterbury has to offer, with wineries, rivers and beaches, a stones through away. Positioned in the heart of a friendly community with plenty of Cafe and dinning options within walking distance. Loved the private deck and backyard along with the bonus of the pool table for some friendly family competition. Highly recommend - great character!
Just as shown in the pictures, this was a great place to stay that wasn't just another cookie cutter motel space, spacious and comfortable, great communication from owner and easy check in, definately recommended
The property was beautiful, roomy, delightfully quirky, clean, well equipped and in a great location. Will definitely be our home away from home when we visit the grandchildren. Really comfortable and lots to do, a great space for family time and creating happy memories.
Homely, comfortable and inviting house, odd train going past, but hardly noticed, great location close to local ammenities, definetly would stay again, great value
Many thanks
Grant
The accommodation was amazing, quirky and very good value. It would be great to stay there for a longer stay. Plenty of room inside and and the outside space is large, private and enclosed. We loved it and definitely stay again

Fantastic place to stay for a few days of relaxation. Very spacious and well equipped. Handy to cafes and supermarket. When we saw how close the railway tracks were, we were a bit apprehensive, but there was no noise issue from the trains.
Whilst an awesome quirky house to stay at, it wasn’t the owners fault that road works were happening right outside their place at the time (including all night road works where the men chose to use the front step as their smoko area). The oven didn’t work and the alternative “air fryer” short circuited the kitchen.Other than that, loved the quirky courthouse. Had lots of fun with the pool table. Comfortable beds, great location to where we needed to be. Lovely that they left some Cookietime cookies for us to enjoy also.
Loved our accommodation in the Court House and Post Office. Nostalgic fun with the interior design, novelties, nic nacs and lay out. Such a delightful surprise that it was even better than in the photos. Had everything we needed and more. Excellent communication with host.
Another perfect base for a couple of days in the '03 ...
Again, this property ticked all the boxes for us. The teenager has space (and good wifi speed) and a games room with a pool table. Mum and Dad get to relax on comfy sofas/chairs and stay toasty warm, even on a chilly north Canterbury night. We'll be back again, next time we're down in the '03 ...
What a gem of a place on a sunny Autumn weekend ... with the French bakery, speciality pie shop, microbrewery (with wood-fired pizza!) and pretty-things-shop (Ruby Six) walking distance away around the corner. Just the break we needed. And The Courthouse property was perfect for lounging around reading books, sharing a drink with visiting friends, and playing petanque and games of pool. The place had everything we needed and was toasty warm. Thanks for having us to stay!
Beautiful, well equipped, character filled house. Plenty of space and good location for visiting Amberley Beach (saw hector dolphins), Gore Bay, and Christchurch.
Historic and quirky filled with period memorabilia
One street off the highway in Amberley and well placed with a pub two doors down and Brew Moon around the corner. Large and comfortable with lots of character. The host interaction was very smooth and efficient.
This is an amazing hitorical place to stay. The photos dont do it any justice.
We really enjoyed staying here.Would be great if there was some info history about the place.Only one thing i would say is that the small window in the main bedroom needs a curtain as very bright light at 5.30 in the morning. We would love to stay again. Was a great location and not far from our family in Rangiora.Love the way it still has all the originality.
Great quirky interesting place. Immaculate,, loved it.
Excellent
