About the host
Hosted by Michele Courage
Gavin and Michele are originally from South Africa and settled in New Zealand more than 15 years ago. Both are fly fishing enthusiasts who love the outdoors. We especially love hosting fly fishing enthusiasts and people who love nature, so we can share our slice of paradise.
Why they chose this property
We love the quietness of rural living and because of the river on the edge of our property we do get to view quite a few birds. The early morning birdsong can be wonderful. At night, stargazing from the property and absorbing the incredible night sky whilst listening out for Morepork are one of our favourite things to do. In the summer months we enjoy a swim in the river. In the winter months we can enjoy year round fishing.
What makes this property unique
Riverstones is a peaceful and relaxing slice of paradise. Our chickens roam free range on the property. The river frontage is quite unique with private access down to the river less than 100 meters away. Our cottage is purpose built and is beautifully furnished. Michele is a practicing energy healer and makes sure that the cottage is also a very relaxing and healing space.
Gavin can always assist fellow fly fishermen with any hints and tips and is available to help first time flyfisherfolk get into the sport with gear etc.
