Cozy Mazama Studio on 5 Acres-Trail Access & Views
Welcome to your peaceful mountain hideaway, nestled on 5 sprawling acres with breathtaking views of the iconic Goat Wall. Our cozy studio apartment, attached to a separately rented house, is the perfect, self-contained basecamp for couples, solo hikers and outdoor adventurers. You can hike, mountain bike, or Nordic ski right out your front door. Enjoy being just minutes from the famous Mazama Store and an easy, scenic drive to North Cascades National Park passes.
What Makes Our Studio Special:
Upfront Transparency: We no longer charge a cleaning fee and Vrbo displays pricing upfront--all mandatory fees and taxes are integrated into the total search and checkout costs so there are no surprises.
Dedicated Studio Amenities: Enjoy your own designated parking spaces available year-round. In the summer, you have access to your own outdoor seating areas and a private grill—perfect for relaxing after a long day on the trails.
Comfortable Layout: Features a comfortable Queen-size bed and a Double sleeper sofa, ideal for a quiet couples' retreat or a weekend getaway with a friend.
Shared Wilderness: Step outside onto 5 acres of beautiful, mature woods and lawns. The acreage is shared between the main house and the studio, giving you plenty of room to breathe in the fresh mountain air.
Please Read Before Booking: Embracing the Realities of Mazama Mazama is a breathtaking paradise, but it is a wild, rural valley—not a mountain version of city amenities. To ensure we are the right fit for your trip, please note our unique regional features:
The Internet is "Rustic" (Expect Spotty or No Wi-Fi): We are truly out in the boonies. Internet and cell signals are weak, unreliable, and often down completely. By booking, you agree that you are prepared for low-to-no internet and that we do not troubleshoot outages. If you must binge Netflix or require seamless connection for remote corporate work, our valley may not be for you. The password for our massive collection of books, board games, and jigsaw puzzles is "FREEDOM."
Local Wildlife Neighbors: We live in the woods. You will encounter insects and local wildlife. Marmots (who have been quite mischievous lately) and black bears frequent the property.
You May Have Neighbors: This studio is attached to a large, separately rented 2,800 sq. ft. cabin (units are firmly locked out from each other). While we ask all guests to be mindful of noise, you may hear your neighbors during your stay. If you want 100% total isolation on the 5 acres, please consider renting both the cabin and studio together if available!
House Rules & Firm Booking Policies:
Occupancy Limits: Our studio is designed for quiet, restful getaways. We can only host the exact number of guests specified in your reservation. No parties or unlisted visitors are permitted.
No Pets & No Smoking: To protect local wildlife and guest allergies, we maintain a strict no-pet policy. Smoking and open outdoor fires are strictly prohibited due to severe valley wildfire risks.
Firm Check-Out at 10 AM: Our cleaning schedule requires every minute to prep this home. Early check-ins and late check-outs cannot be accommodated, and departures after 10 AM will incur a late fee. Please treat our cherished, lived-in 90s property with care.
No Cleaning Fee Policy vs. Respectful Checkout: We are proud to charge a $0 cleaning fee to keep your booking simple and transparent. Our local team provides a professional, deep clean before you arrive. In return, we ask our guests to leave the studio in a reasonable, respectful condition (dishes washed, trash placed in bins, and no major unaddressed spills). Standard checkouts that require extra cleaning hours due to excessive mess or stains will result in an additional deep-cleaning fee billed directly to your reservation.
Cancellation & Travel Insurance: Please review our cancellation policy closely. Because we cannot issue refunds outside our stated guidelines for regional disruptions (smoky summer air, seasonal road closures, or personal delays), we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your trip investment.
Winter Wonderland Addendum (For Winter Bookings):
Winter Driving Skills Mandated: Expect ice, deep snow, and slush. You must have 4x4/AWD, snow tires, and/or chains.
Snow Plowing Protocols: Our excellent plow service manages many valley properties; they will arrive, but sometimes it can take a while and there are no on-call emergency services or call-outs for plowing or dig-outs. The driveway and your private parking spot must be kept completely clear of gear. Do not throw rocks onto the driveway, as they destroy the plow blades.
Be Ready to Shovel: Weather changes fast. A shovel is provided on the porch—you should be prepared to shovel your own way past the county snow berm at the end of the driveway if necessary.

We enjoyed our stay here. It was a quiet location not too far from the local grocery store and restaurant. Check in was easy and the place was clean and well stocked for two people.
We enjoyed our stay at the studio. The description was accurate, and host provided great communication. It is conveniently located for the area and visiting the Cascades. We recommend
Loved the place!! Best place to stay for proximity to some spectacular mountains! Place was spotless and exactly as advertised! We would go there again in a heartbeat!
This was a lovely place to stay for an extra long Memorial weekend trip! The property is close to all the fun things in Mazama - hiking, biking, climbing, the Mazama Store/Brewery, and was a beautiful location to hang out at as well! The small, attached studio was perfect for my partner and I. Dawn was quick to respond to my questions and very helpful as well. I would absolutely try to stay here again!
This one-room VRBO was, for the most part, very comfortable for my husband and me. It's a wonderful location and we appreciated the ability to trickle-charge our EV overnight using the outside plug. The primary bed was very comfortable. We do have modest suggestions: a third floor lamp or table lamp (in addition to the two bedside table lamps) would be a big plus. I am sensitive to overhead lighting so had to wear a hat anytime the kitchen lights were on. We also suggest curtains that open wider so that the room is not so dark during the day (maybe tie-backs could solve this?). We could not figure out the toaster oven and did not find any instructions. It is complicated and really needs instructions. My friend who stayed there this past winter said she also couldn't figure out the toaster oven (and wrote the owner about it). On-site written instructions would have been very helpful. Overall, a nice place and I would definitely recommend it to others (and give it five stars instead of four if the 3 issues above were addressed).
We found the accommodations to be cozy and had everything we needed. The host was excellent and very quick to respond. It was great to step out the door and into skis! What fun.
Nice and clean and cozy. GREAT location for access to ski trails. Very quiet and beautiful setting in the trees with view of the imposing Goat Wall through the trees. We would stay here again. . .
Mazama is west of Winthrop in Washington state. It is BEAUTIFUL! The mazama pub is excellent! There are miles and miles of amazing trails to hike, ride, cross country ski, fat bike, etc.
We loved the location of the cabin. It suited our needs, and we'd stay there again.
kitchen lacks a microwave, in consideration of electrical system's lack of capacity. for my meal prep this meant more time spent than usual and more dishes made dirty. refrigerator and air conditioner are nice to have, necessary but noisy. overall, a nice place to stay, very quiet and peaceful location. convenient to my hikes in the national park.
This property is exactly as advertised. It is not fancy nor does it have amazing Internet or cellular connection. That being said, it is the absolute perfect place to unplug and enjoy a few days of nature and amazing energy. I completely enjoyed my stay and the quiet scenery was spectacular. I highly recommend this property to anybody who just wants to enjoy the beauty this Valley has to offer.. Thank you for the opportunity to stay here.
We loved that we could ski right out the door to trails! The studio had all the kitchen amenities and plenty of towels and extra blankets. We never heard any noise from the main house, it was a very quiet spot. Driveway was plowed a couple times, easy to get in and out.
It would be nose to have a place to hang wet gear and maybe a big tray for boots? Thanks
I am an anxious person so knowing that I could easily trip the breaker and not be able to reset it was worrisome. There was no oven - so no pizza as planned. There was also minimal to no water in the bathtub so showering was out of the question. There is definitely room to make this a much more enjoyable stay.

No microwave! Not within walking distance to Mazama store and trails. Also, we were required to strip the bed and take all the garbage out to a locked garage - why did we need to sych a high price for cleaning? Too expensive for what we got.

About the host
Hosted by Dawn Conyers
I love traveling, hiking, and cross country skiing. I was born and raised in Alaska so outdoor beauty and snow are in my blood!
My favorite place in the world, besides The Methow Valley, is Ireland. I have traveled there many times and plan on going back and spending a lot more time there. I love very old things and ancient pre-history. In 2015 I backpacked the West Highland Way in Scotland solo and look forward to doing that again either on my own or with a few friends.
I hope you have a wonderful time in the Methow, whether with friends, family or on your own and I am delighted to share Mazama Retreat at Goat Wall View with you!
Thanks,
Dawn
