Our cosy and humble cabin - an old pickers hut from the farm's previous life as an apple orchard - is located in the stunning Huon Valley, with views across the stunning Huon River to the snow capped mountains of the Southwest.
You would be hard pressed to find a more peaceful outlook for your morning coffee or afternoon wine as you take in the open skies and the local wildlife.
Just a few minutes from the charming village of Cygnet and its many great cafes and shops.
Inside Rising Hut:
Step inside your pocket of cosiness on the river. With large windows in the lounge room and bedroom overlooking the Huon River, situated directly across the quiet coast road, rest and relaxation will come easy.
The living space is well equipped with a comfortable couch and a wood heater that warms the whole hut really efficiently - we'll leave you well stocked with firewood and kindling. In the summer months there's a fan to keep things cool and you can also catch a wonderful cross breeze through the hut.
The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking up many a feast, along with cast iron cookware should you choose to head outdoors to cook.
The bedroom includes a luxe organic natural latex king size bed and pillow topper with soft brushed cotton bedding for the perfect night sleep.
The bathroom has a shower with great pressure and complimentary natural bath products.
Outside Rising Hut:
The hut sits nestled between our pastures, where you may enjoy a visit by our pet sheep flock, and across the road from the Huon River, where you may manage to spot a visiting seal or dolphins. Across the river you can view the mountains of the Southwest Tassie wilderness, including Hartz Mountain, frequently capped by snow.
The campfire pit is ready for you to cook on or to just enjoy an evening under the stars.
Directly across the road you'll find a winding pathway access through a small patch of bushland to a small private pebbled beach on the river.
The property is unfenced and often also home to wildlife, including pademelons, quolls, bandicoots, echidnas, and wedge-tailed eagles among a huge variety of other birds and animals.
Other things to note
The pickers hut is located in a quiet rural neighbourhood, along a roadside. Though a quiet rural coast road frequented more by cyclists and walkers you will hear the occasional passing car, and can see the neighbours property from the hut.
Unfortunately the property is not appropriate for children or pets, due to the lack of fencing, proximity to a drop off to the road, unfenced wood heater and local wildlife. We are happy to welcome infants who are not yet crawling/walking but please do let us know in your booking notes.
