About this property

Unique Mill Valley Home

One of the best views of the mountain from anywhere in Mill Valley, what was known as the Meeting House was the first home on the hill above Mill Valley and occupies a commanding viewpoint of the mountain, the valley and the bay. It was so named as a retreat for artists and writers and has been lovingly cared for since that time. A huge level yard, almost unheard of in Mill Valley, is perfect for kids and dogs, or for those who simply want a peaceful place to enjoy the surrounding nature, garden and private redwood grove. The one acre property is completely fenced, with electric gate, and security cameras at gates for privacy and security. Well established garden, big entertaining patio and outdoor kitchen and dining areas. A 100 year old heritage oak gives shade to a large outdoor kitchen and teak dining table and hundreds of redwoods and ferns provide a special place to wonder or meditate on the natural beauty of the area. Morning sunrise views across the bay and an afternoon light show as sunlight cascades across the valley, together with an unimpeded of the eastern horizon where the full moon rises, provide a reminder that we are in a special area and close to nature. This is the perfect retreat from which to explore the bounty of Marin County and the wine lands beyond, or to take time out in a secluded oasis to renew. Located on what was the Pipeline Trail, and a few hundred feet from the Dipsea Trail, there is direct bike or hiking access to the many trails of Mt Tam. This is a special property, with more of a private retreat feel, and has only been in 4 families since first built in 1905, the last of whom did an extensive remodel and added a new wing. While totally private because of it’s location on a knoll and surrounding mature trees it is only a 5 minute drive to town and a 12 minute stroll down the famous Dipsea Stairs.

Amazing property
The views are amazing, outdoor space is excellent and house is very cool. Our family really enjoyed our stay. Having such great outdoor space really made our stay! We had four adults and two kids and house provided plenty of space. It’s a really unique property.

Paradise on earth
This unique home in the redwoods of Marin is beyond special. The interior matches the exterior in beauty, creativity and love. We enjoyed the historic aspects, the cool decor and amazing comfort of the black leather couches. Everything was divine..a week in heaven. thanks

Amazing House nestled in the hills of Mill Valley
We were a family of 4 in need of an escape during Covid. Just needed some air and change of scenery. This house had the most amazing views. Situated in the hills above the sweet town of Mill Valley, you are 5 minutes away but feel like you are in the woods. Located by the famous Dipsea stairs...you can walk into town for a coffee down these beautiful legendary stairs under tall redwoods to a great local spot. The owner was amazing and gave us tips for best places to go for take out as well as his favorite hikes & beaches in the area and beyond. He and his assistant were very responsive to quick questions: as they came up, like hot tub questions and a few other minor details. Usually responded within the hour. The place is beautifully designed, it's the couch, chair, bathtub etc...you've always wanted in your house. The beds are fantastic. You can really tell someone has lived here and thought of everything. Beautiful vistas to eat outdoors under, even a little bace ball with home grown grapes growing along the sides! There is an outdoor cat that lives there and kept it's distance but also kept us company as we enjoyed the hot tub. I hate to even share this secret. But it's a great way to visit this whole area and to feel like you're near the redwoods, without the craziness of the hotels and tourists.

What makes this property unique

We have a lovely little outdoor kitty that lives on the property. You will likely see "Grey Kitty" sunning on the deck. She's pretty shy and mostly keeps to herself but if you're lucky she'll come say hi when you're sitting outside.
