Our cozy 1921 cottage apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood beneath 19 200 foot redwood trees. In Fairfax, you're not too far from anything!
The town of Fairfax is a wonderful combination of boho arts, yoga, mountain bike riders,farmers market, lovers of good food and entertainment. We have two markets, one the "world-famous" Good Earth natural food store. Our house is within walking distance of the town center on a closed road with minimal car traffic

Jr kitchen, we have a toaster oven, microwave, coffee, and tea, so it's good for a little snack or breakfast.
We're located just 10 min walk to downtown Fairfax where there's lots of good food, bars with live music, yoga, and possibly the best ice cream shop ever.
The bus stop is located right downtown so it's easy to catch a bus to the city, or a shuttle to the beach.
You'll also be located a 10 min walk from loads of hiking and mountain biking trails in Deer Park. If you're feeling energetic you can hike up to one of the five lakes nearby, or just drive 20 min up the hill.

Guest access

You'll have access to the whole front cottage, with your own private entrance w/o passing through. We live in the back of the house through the back gate. We have a dog that roams around in the yard so we ask that you not open the back gate.
We have one parking spot. There is plenty of free parking down the street.

If you're independent, that's cool. If you would like recommendations about what to do in the area, where to eat, etc. we're happy to chat. We're usually home and or available on our cell phones.

This place is amazing!

We loved the town of Fairfax & this cabin! Deer sightings several times each day and the town is only a 10 minute walk! Amazing host and we’re already planning on visiting again.

Wonderful stay

My 13 year old daughter and I had a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage. It's quaint and quiet and in a lovely neighborhood that's close to Deer Park and numourous hiking trails. I highly recommend this home.

Beautiful cottage the Redwoods

A gem in Fairfax

We had the best time at Teresa's cottage. It had both charm and comfort. We took a little hike/walk up the hill from the cottage on New Years Day. It was lovely. Also fantastic restaurants nearby. We'd book again in a heartbeat.

Eclectic Retreat

We loved our time in Fairfax. The house was the perfect place for our family. We were able to go hiking and drive to Muir Woods and Point Reyes and enjoy the cute town of Fairfax. We would love to come back and stay again. Teresa is a great host and is very responsive.

Quaint Getaway

We were surrounded by redwoods. Teresa’s home made us feel very welcome. The bed was very comfy, but the pillows were a bit flat. We went to Muir Woods and this place was about 30 minutes away which made it convenient. Teresa was very responsive to our questions.

Perfect place to explore the headlands.

The cabin was perfect for what we needed. Right in town but with a decidedly rural feel. Definitely a cabin in the woods… in the city. Comfortable bedding and communication practically in real time. When we come back, we’re coming back here.

Wonderful getaway in Marin County

My boyfriend and I were hoping to escape the noise and congestion of Fleet Week in San Francisco, and this cottage was the perfect antidote -- spacious, comfortable, and quiet. Now that we know the property and the kind owner, Teresa, we're looking forward to spending more time there in future! (Pro tip: to play the DVDs provided onsite, use the slot on the upper left-hand side of the TV.)

What a lovely cottage under the forest giants!

Beautiful property, as described. The air is so fresh and beautiful beneath the trees, and the skylights give you the chance to gaze up in wonder even when enjoying a quiet afternoon at home. Teresa was a wonderful host, responsive to questions and even bringing us fresh eggs from her hens.

Wonderful Stay

We had a wonderful stay in Fairfax with our three sons. Everyone loved the cottage and it’s peaceful setting. It is located just a stones throw from downtown Fairfax but feels like you are in the country. There is no TV and no one even cared. It was great to spend time with the family without electronics. Teresa is a wonderful host and has the extra touches that make you feel right at home. We will definitely stay here again.

Cozy Cottage

We loved staying in Teresa's property. Our daughter and her family recently moved to Fairfax. This cottage provided everything we needed to use as a launching pad for our daily visits with our three grand boys. This is a perfect spot if looking for a place to unwind, exhale, slow down, and enjoy the beauty of Marin County. Teresa was warm and welcoming and so communicative before our trip with answering my questions. We look forward to staying here when we return to Fairfax! Thank you, Teresa, for such a special place!

Family vacation summer 2024

We stayed at this property in July/Aug 2024 in order to attend our friends' wedding and to visit family in Marin. We used to live in San Anselmo, we had our daughter there and spent a lot of time in Fairfax years ago (we live in New Hampshire now) but we wanted to stay somewhere special and memorable. This cozy cottage was the perfect choice, close to everything we did during our vacation and felt like coming home again to our old neighborhood but even better. It was so peaceful, relaxing and beautiful and really helped us experience all of the charm that Fairfax and Marin in general, has to offer. Plus Teresa was the perfect host and Diane who was assisting, was so nice we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her. I would highly recommend a stay here, you will love it and we are hoping to come back ourselves soon!

Even better than expected!!!

Wonderful spot in a great neighborhood! Perfect for our family of 4. Exceptionally comfortable queen bed and sofa bed (we didn’t use the twin bed but I’m sure it’s good too!). I was a little apprehensive about the weather and lack of A/C in the Bay Area — it was July when we were there an unusually hot — but the redwood cover really does keep the house nice and cool. Teresa was very considerate and I enjoyed communicating with her. We were in town for a wedding at Deer Park Villa and actually walked to and from the venue! About 10 min walk there and 15 min walk to downtown Fairfax, which is a great little town. Can’t say enough about this rental and location!!
