Welcome to Stilleven, a custom-built oceanfront retreat nestled near Rose Bay perched on Nova Scotia’s breathtaking South Shore. This elegant maritime home offers nearly 600 feet of private shoreline and uninterrupted panoramic views of the sea, with sights of Lunenburg, Blue Rocks, and the iconic Bluenose II passing by in season.

Designed for both comfort and sophistication, Stilleven features four beautifully appointed bedrooms—including a luxurious king suite with an ensuite bathroom—all crafted to maximize stunning water views. There are two more full bathrooms. The fully stocked kitchen, spacious dining area, and open-concept great room create a warm and inviting space, perfect for gatherings or peaceful solitude.

Whether you’re enjoying a morning coffee while watching the sunrise over the Atlantic or unwinding in style after a day of exploring, every detail of Stilleven invites relaxation and rejuvenation. The home is ideally located near pristine beaches like Spindlers, Sand Dollar, and Hirtles, as well as the scenic Gaff Point Hiking Trail, and with charming restaurants, local shops, and farmers markets just a short drive away.

While we warmly welcome families, Stilleven is thoughtfully designed with adults in mind. The home features curated decor and furnishings that may not be ideal for younger guests. Additionally, the property sits directly on the ocean, with steep shoreline access and no fencing, which may present safety concerns for children.

If you're considering a stay with little ones, we kindly ask that you take these factors into account. Guests are responsible for supervising children at all times, both indoors and out.

The home was luxurious and beautiful. There are Ocean views from every room. The master suite is spa like and has an amazing deck to enjoy the view. The kitchen well equipped and ready for any chef. Our family had an amazing stay at Stilleven and we look forward to returning again soon.

The most AMAZING stay!

I’ve stayed at a lot of VRBOs and this one was hands down the most amazing property I have been to. It had every amenity possible (you name it, it had it). The outdoor fireplace was a fantastic touch with ample wood stock. It left us not wanting to explore the area as this place had astounding views on its own and the luxury finishes were noted!

Feltzen South Getaway on the water

It was the perfect house for us to relax in…with a well appointed kitchen and comfortable bedrooms…magnificent views of the sunsets and sun rises from the upstairs deck and patios….I loved watching the Bluenose sail out of Lunenburg every day …it was a really lovely comfortable place and a true treat to stay there. I took long walks every day on the quiet road…Thank you for everything.

Of all the places I’ve stayed through VRBO, this may be the very best. A magical, luxurious, and peaceful place surrounded by ocean views and nature. Lori is a fantastic host and has such a sophisticated attention to detail from the linens to the decor to the amenities offered onsite (the Napoleon BBQ is outstanding). Words and photos won’t do Stilleven justice. You have to experience it!

Our time last week at Stilleven was more than just a stay at a very beautiful home. It was an amazing experience. The home’s location on the water offers views of Lunenburg across the bay, the Bluenose as it sails by, and beautiful sunsets. We enjoyed fires under starry skies, and quiet walks along the road for more scenic views. Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, LaHave Island, and several lovely beaches were just a short scenic drive away. You will feel like you have stepped back in time to a simpler, more relaxed, way of life surrounded by beauty.
