Why they chose this property
The Sandcastles Resort offers guests use of the pool and a fabulous restaurant – The Drift and Wood which has live music on weekends.
A short stroll of only 250 metres and you are on the magnificent beach of Agnes Water. The last surf beach before the Great barrier Reef means Agnes Water offers golden sands and opportunity to catch a wave, paddle board, or wade in the shallows.
A few minutes’ walk will see you in the quaint village of Agnes Water, where there are restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and boutique shops. The museum gives an insight to the discovery of the area by Captain Cook and some of the adventures of the early settlers. Up the hill is the Tavern which has great meals in a newly renovated space. Facilities include billiards in the sports bar section and a pokies area as well.
The Red Rocks walk is a couple of kilometres of rugged coastline with stunning beach coves and dramatic rocky formations. There is the Paperbark walk and at certain times of the year, the turtles nest in the sandy dunes.
A few minutes’ drive and you are in the township of 1770 where you can access the day cruise to Lady Musgrave Island or spend a day on the Larc exploring the area. Fishing and diving cruises are available and exploring where Captain Cook landed in 1770. Amazing sunsets are seen as you enjoy some fresh fish and chips.
