Welcome to Somerset Ranch, a 28 acre, 6 bedroom, 7 full/4 half bath compound, high in the hills above Palm Springs. Terraced on a hillside, it features 5 unique buildings on separate levels that house a kitchen, dining room, living room, and the bedroom suites. The hillside is naturally embellished with dramatically exposed rock, and is interspersed with secret patios, and large view terraces, along with the pool, spa, outdoor living, dining, and amphitheater - all with the most incredible panoramic views. It has a rich history as one of the oldest estates in Palm Springs, with some of the buildings dating back over 100 years and designed by architect Albert Frey. With a combined living space of 7,000 square feet, it has an “away from it all” vibe, yet still moments from downtown Palm Springs.
Beyond a discreet gated entrance awaits a hidden paradise that slowly reveals itself, with a meandering driveway leading past a cascading waterfall and landing at a terrace that unveils a European-inspired villa on the hill above.
Guests will move from stand-alone rooms to outdoor spaces and on to other buildings throughout their stay. Separate pathways are designed to easily allow the ranch's golf cart-style vehicles to transport guests, luggage, food and much more around the property.
The main pool patio is on Terrace 4, and overlooks the entire Coachella Valley in one direction, and majestic mountains on the other. The pool is new and surrounded by luxury lounge chairs - and the spa is extremely private down the rock stairway and has a private powder bathroom. The outdoor dining table overlooks the amphitheater and stage, and extensive outdoor lighting illuminates the surrounding hillsides. Other outdoor amenities include a built in firepit lounge for starry desert nights.
The dining room and kitchen are located on Terrace 3. The formal dining room has incredible city and mountain views, a wet bar, fireplace, and magnificent table for 12. Next to the dining room is the dual-room kitchen with all of today’s preferred small and large appliances, place settings, cookware and glassware. It has a hidden wine vault built into the hillside for natural temperature control. Outside the kitchen is a built in BBQ, and outdoor table seating for 4.
Back up the stairs to Terrace 4, the poolside living room dates to 1923, and has a huge sectional, fireplace, and modern smart TV. The terrace looks out to the city, and the doors open up to the pool and mountains.
Whether you have the villa to yourself or are enjoying a houseful of loved ones who have come home for the holidays, birthdays and other milestone celebrations, the estate’s luxury bedroom suites ensure comfort for all.
The 2-bedroom Primary Guest House Suites are on Terrace 5, at the top of the ranch. It has sunrise and evening-light views from a romantic balcony and opens to a rear patio with an outdoor shower and bathtub. Bedroom 1 has a King bed, and the en suite bathroom has a standalone tub, shower, fireplace and terrace. Bedroom 2 has a King bed, terrace, and ensuite powder bath.
Located next to the pool on Terrace 4, The Rockhouse Suite showcases the talents of architect Albert Frey and displays a bedroom that appears to float over the surrounding landscape. It has a King bed, clawfoot bathtub, stunning fireplace, bathroom with shower, and opens up to a private back patio.
Guest Suites 4 and 5 are also on Terrace 4. Suite 4 features a Queen bed, Suite 5 a King bed, and they both have an extra built in sleeping cove, ensuite bathroom with a clawfoot tub, shower, and dual sinks. They look out to a private terrace overlooking the city.
Below the dining and kitchen is the Fountain Suite on Terrace 2. It is extremely private and has incredible views, a fireplace, King bed, ensuite bath with soaking tub, shower, and dual vanities.
The original caretaker’s cottage is on the lowest level of the villa on Terrace 1. It has a Queen bed, ensuite bathroom with shower, a small sitting room and additional bathroom. There are two more powder bathrooms on the estate, one next to the pool, and one next to the dining room.
Occupancy summary: 5 Kings, 2 Queens, 7 bedrooms, 7 full bathrooms, 4 half baths
Overnight occupancy: 12
Parking: 6 cars
Other Amenities: Wireless internet. High quality linens, bath and pool towels plus a starter set of soaps in each bathroom. Laundry room with washer, dryer, ironing board and iron.
Somerset Ranch has uncompromising privacy and serenity, yet all the fun of downtown Palm Springs is just minutes from the private gates. When it is time to venture out a bit, the hustle and bustle of Palm Canyon Drive will be just the place to get your fill of local shops, restaurants and museums in town.
