Low Cay is a delightful cottage residence which exudes modern serenity in island living. This beautifully appointed villa is part of the distinguished Governors Harbour Collection, a select group of top tier rentals in all of Central Eleuthera, and is very centrally located in the historic settlement of Governor`s Harbour.
This one bedroom cottage offers singles and couples a taste of local life combined with a five-star European standard of interior design, and is complete with modern amenities - including WiFi and air conditioning throughout.
The main living area at Low Cay features wonderfully tall ceilings that provide grandeur scale to the residence that its charming exterior keeps modestly hidden. This space combines an open-plan, well equipped kitchen and breakfast bar with a spacious and elegant lounge.
There is a full washer and dryer tucked away behind closet doors in the kitchen area. The living room includes comfortable sofas, a bespoke driftwood table, LED TV, a Bowers & Wilkins `Zeppelin` docking station, and floating, translucent linen curtains.
The deluxe bathroom contains a large walk-in shower with a sand blasted glass privacy screen, and a hand-made driftwood console with twin basins. There is also an enclosed hot water shower to the side of the villa which provides a refreshing, al-fresco bathing alternative.
In the bedroom, a locally designed and constructed super-sized queen bed (66`W) and side tables - with an individually commissioned US box spring mattress - opens to a beautifully furnished lanai room through French doors. This fully screened area, which overlooks the secluded terraced and private landscaped garden, is a wonderful space to enjoy morning coffee, evening cocktails and dinner, or just simply relaxing! An electric grill is supplied for guests` use.
To the front of the villa, a full width terrace with extended sun deck offers extraordinary views of beautiful sunsets that fall over the harbour below.
Conveniently situated in the heart of the Governor’s Harbour community, Low Cay is a 2-minute drive away from the world-renowned French Leave beach - one of the finest beaches on the island and one of the great beaches of the Caribbean. The town of Governors Harbour is only a short walk downhill and includes grocery and liquor stores, a few favourite restaurants as well as a café and local bakery, ATM services, a local dive/fishing supply shop, and fresh fish and lobster for sale from fisherman at the town dock. The historic Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, and Wesley Methodist Church (c. 1883), are also located here.
The island of Eleuthera is famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and paddle boarding are very popular water activities. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, bottomless blue holes, many unique beaches, historic churches, and many small villages and settlements to explore.

Low Cay was comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed. We loved the location which made us feel like "locals" and within easy walking distance to restaurants, cafes, shopping, the ice cream parlor, and the Friday Fish Fry. It's just a 4 minute drive (or 20 minute walk) to French Leave Beach, a real beauty. We highly recommended this for a local immersion experience.
Great property, centrally located in both Gov Harbor and Eleuthera. Property management was pleasant and good communication. Bed was quite comfortable and kitchen fairly well appointed - rarities in a home rental. Great size for a couple. Lots of roosters.
The house was very clean, nicely decorated with a wonderfully appointed kitchen. It was located in a cute historic district of Governor's Harbour where you could walk to a couple of grocery stores, a gift shop and the Friday night Fish Fry. The only problems we encountered were the neighborhood feral roosters that woke us up before the crack of dawn every day and we had lost power four of the seven days we were there. A back up generator would have been nice.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback! We're glad to hear you enjoyed the cleanliness, décor, and especially the well-equipped kitchen at Low Cay Cottage. It’s also wonderful to know you appreciated the charm and walkability of the historic Governor's Harbour district.
We're sorry to hear about the early wake-up calls from the local roosters — they’re definitely part of the island's character, though we understand they can take some getting used to! As for the power outages, we completely understand how disruptive they can be. While occasional outages are a reality of island living, it’s unfortunate that you experienced several during your stay.
We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back again in the future!
Low Cay was perfect. The house has an amazing kitchen open to the living room, a lovely screened porch at the back with pretty landscaped backyard, and a sweet front porch as well. Lots of places to sit and relax. The decor was so peaceful and clean. Location in town was great and, although we rented a car, we walked to the beach and around town to get supplies. Governor's Harbour is absolutely lovely. We will be back!
Our stay was wonderful - exactly what we were hoping for. The property was charming, uncluttered and clean and stocked with everything we could possibly need durning our stay from kitchen tools to beach accessories.
Joy and Dominic were fantastic. They were able to accommodate an earlier check in and when we had an issue with plumbing during our stay Joy and Dominic were able to get it resolved promptly despite it being a holiday on the island! Check out could not have been easier. Thanks so much and hope to be back soon!
I have been coming to Eleuthera for years. Over the years I have come by myself, with family and with friends and have stayed at various locations. HANDS down this is my favourite. For the first time, I decided not to rent a vehicle for the entire time. I was at Low Cay for three weeks and loved being close to the neighbours, grocery store, beer store, Bucaneers for bite, DaPerk for coffee, walk to beach, hearing the kids play and sing at the nearby school. The yard is beautiful and private. I spent days lying in sun or painting and it always felt private. The house is perfect-clean, well equipped, fantastic bed, linens, sofas, etc. I took advantage of the screened porch in mornings for coffee and evenings to read. The front porch allows you to watch the sunset in Governors Harbour. I literally cannot think of one thing that could not be improved. It was a welcoming and lovely home and feel privileged to spend time there
