About the host

Host profile image
Hello, I’m Lynne, your host at Shanlyn Farm, nestled in the Sunshine Coast hinterland at Traveston. Shanlyn is more than a farmstay — it’s my sanctuary, created with love and purpose. The name comes from both myself and my late husband, Shane, whose dream was to live gently on the land. Since his passing, I’ve continued to nurture it as a place of rest, reflection, and renewal.

I love welcoming guests to share this vision. Life here moves at a slower rhythm: horses graze in the paddocks, donkeys wander with curiosity, cows move quietly across the hills, while chickens scratch at the earth and peacocks bring flashes of colour. Nature is always close — in birdsong at dawn, the shifting skies, or the stillness of an evening under the stars.

At Solace Dome, guests enjoy the gentle luxury of a geodesic dome designed for privacy, reflection, and immersion in nature. At Little Soho, a restored vintage caravan, there’s charm and simplicity with everything you need to unwind and take in the views. Both have been thoughtfully prepared with natural linens, warm touches, and a sense of ease that allows you to feel at home from the moment you arrive.

Beyond the accommodations, Shanlyn offers shared spaces for connection and reflection. Guests are welcome at Satya, our meditation deck and fire circle, and may walk the Dromenon labyrinth, a ceremonial spiral dedicated in Shane’s memory. These spaces invite you to breathe, remember, and reconnect with what matters most.

For me, hosting is not just about offering a place to stay — it’s about creating an experience of gentle hospitality. I find joy in meeting the people who are drawn here and in witnessing the peace that comes when they slow down, rest, and spend time with the land.

It’s a privilege to welcome you to Shanlyn Farm, whether you choose the quiet beauty of Solace Dome or the charm of Little Soho. May your time here bring ease, inspiration, and a touch of the magic this farm continues to offer me every day.

Why they chose this property

I chose the Sunshine Coast hinterland because it holds a rare mix of beauty and stillness. Here in Traveston, the land opens into rolling green hills, pockets of rainforest, and wide skies that change with each hour. Mornings begin with mist in the valleys, afternoons are filled with birdsong, and evenings invite you to sit under a sky full of stars.

What I enjoy most is the balance of seclusion and connection. Shanlyn Farm feels private and peaceful, yet it’s only a short drive to Pomona, a delightful town known for its heritage charm, markets, and the iconic Mount Cooroora walk. From here, guests can explore Noosa’s beaches, the Mary Valley, and neighbouring hinterland villages, all while returning to the quiet of the farm.

For me, this area is both grounding and inspiring. It restores you — where the rhythm of the land, the animals, and the quiet moments bring a sense of ease that lingers long after you leave.

What makes this property unique

Shanlyn Farm isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a sanctuary created with love and meaning. The property blends the charm of a working farm with thoughtfully designed spaces for rest and reflection. Guests can choose between Solace Dome, a geodesic eco-dome that offers privacy and gentle luxury, or Little Soho, a restored vintage caravan with character and warmth.

What makes Shanlyn truly stand out is the combination of comfort and soulful experience. Here, guests are invited not only to enjoy the farm animals and open landscapes, but also to explore unique features like the Satya meditation deck and fire circle and the Dromenon labyrinth, a ceremonial spiral dedicated in memory of my husband, Shane. These elements give the property a depth and spirit that goes beyond ordinary accommodation.

Guests often tell me how the atmosphere touches them in unexpected ways. One woman said she felt she could finally “breathe out” here, while another shared that Shanlyn was the first place she felt safe enough to speak her truth. These experiences reflect what I hope Shanlyn offers — not just a stay, but a space to feel deeply at ease.

Set within the quiet beauty of the Sunshine Coast hinterland, yet close to Pomona, Noosa, and the Mary Valley, Shanlyn offers a rare balance of seclusion and connection. It’s a place where every detail — from natural linens to eco-friendly power — has been chosen to create ease, peace, and a sense of belonging.

What makes Shanlyn special is its heart. Guests often arrive as visitors but leave feeling renewed, carrying with them a little of the stillness and magic this farm has to offer.
