We absolutely LOVED our stay! The restaurant is incredible, the hosts are both so responsive and welcoming! The bed was super comfortable and it was such a beautiful place to stay. This felt more like a bed and breakfast, highly recommend!
The location of this rental is excellent. It’s central to many great wineries and restaurants in Loudon County. Family Station Gastropub has great food, generous portions and friendly staff. This apartment (#4) was very clean with plenty of space and a comfortable bed. All that said, the water situation needs addressing. First, it’s incredibly rusty and never goes away. Second, the shower never gets warm either because the knob was incorrectly installed or purposely adjusted to not reach a hot position. All showers had were cold and rusty. I smell like rust. Bottles (10) of water were left in the fridge for drinking. Finally, very few items in kitchenette: four mugs, six plates, some silverware, drip coffee maker, toaster oven and a microwave. Bring anything you want to eat/drink/cook with. Owner was kind to lend us a couple flutes from the bar as we brought champagne and only had mugs to drink from. All shortcomings could be easily rectified for future renters. If fixed, we would return.
Check in was fine, though 'go in the front door' was inaccurate as the entry is around the back and up a rickety staircase. Access to the apartment was fine. Furnishings are of good quality, though spare. The mattress was fine. The kitchen has minimal equipment, but everything was clean. The window air conditioners were very loud, especially the one in the bedroom, but worked well. Didn't use the wi-fi. Now for the negatives: the kitchen and bathroom taps ran brown to yellow foul-smelling water from the cold faucets that persisted for some time. The directions say to run the hot water for 15 mins before showering. We did, and the water was yellowy, smelly, and never warmer than lukewarm. As we were visiting with family, we could shower elsewhere. We used bottled water to brush teeth. Finally, the building is very old and there is unavoidable mold and old cigarette and cooking odors (it is above a restaurant).
