Firefly Retreat - Charming Cottage on 10 Acres

Come and enjoy all that Firefly Cottage, the grounds and the region have to offer. Relax and unwind in your own way... Out and about exploring the area or simply enjoying the cottage and grounds.

Firefly Cottage
The cottage (as a standalone booking) can accommodate up to six people. The cottage entrance leads to the living area and bathroom downstairs, and a staircase leading to the upstairs loft bedroom. The living area is an open plan style with wood heater, dining/living space and kitchen/bar. The kitchen includes portable induction cook-top, fridge, microwave, oven/grill, toaster, sandwich press, and coffee pod machine. The pool table & dart board offer great indoor entertainment.
The sliding doors by the kitchen open to a patio with BBQ, wood heater (Chiminea) and outdoor seating for 8. This area looks to the orchard and lawn areas.
Upstairs, the large loft-style bedroom has queen and double beds, to sleep up to 4 guests. An extra self-inflated queen mattress is available as an option for sleeping a family of 6 together. The upstairs balcony offers valley views to the West, and is a great place to enjoy the sunset over a glass of vino.

Additional…
The living room sofa downstairs opens into a double bed, as another sleeping option. Both the upstairs and downstairs have air conditioning units. Wifi is connected and complimentary: It is usually strong enough to stream movies but can get patchy from time to time.

Provisions
We provide tea, coffee (ground and pods), milk, cereals, eggs, salt & pepper, cooking oil, and some condiments.

Firefly Grounds and Spaces
Dogs are welcome but please let us know in advance. The grounds offer a nice expansive area to exercise your fur babies!

You have full use of the property's swimming pool, tennis court, garden nooks, and open grassy areas. The pool is accessed via the house verandah. The laundry, located at the house East verandah has washing machine, and dryer for rainy days.
The back paddock areas and barn/outbuildings are private areas (not for guest use).

If you have also booked the main house in addition to Firefly Cottage (combined is known as Firefly Resort), you also have full access to the house dining and BBQ Entertaining deck, etc.

Out and About
Just 30 mins to the West is Gloucester, gateway to the Barrington Tops National Park, whilst 30 mins East will find you on the beaches at Forster or exploring the Great Lakes.

Local eats and drinks include the Krambach village pub just 10 mins up the road, and a vineyard practically next door. East to Nabiac (15 mins drive, just across the highway) is another pub and bistro, and very highly rated café.

Your hosts Mike and Christine welcome you to our Firefly home. We purchased the property in February 2022, and have enjoyed upgrading the house, cottage and grounds over the past few years. Since acquiring the property, we have been welcomed by many locals, and explored bush trails on our Africa Twin adventure bike. We have also welcomed many guests to both house and cottage. Firefly offers us a lifetime of experience and adventure, and we feel privileged to be able to share that with our guests.

We have recently installed a large barn in the back paddocks, where we now reside. Thus we are usually on hand to provide any assistance you may need during your stay.

Why they chose this property

Originally living and working in Sydney, our 18 month search for a rural property ended when we discovered Firefly. We love the low-key rural location, the views, and the opportunity to enhance the property and invite guests to come and stay.

The area has so much to offer, including walking, scenic drives, forest trails, beach days. However with the property on 10 acres of lawns, bush, orchard, views, pool, tennis court and more - we also like to relax at home and enjoy just 'being here'.

What makes this property unique

I think there are many good holiday rental options for travellers to the area, and people have differing tastes and priorities. Guests frequently comment how they love to simply relax and unwind at Firefly, and take in what the property has to offer.
