Dollys Cottage Timeless Retreat near Hobart CBD
Just a short stroll from the CBD, this light-filled hideaway blends timeless style with everyday comfort. The sunny patio invites outdoor dining by day and fire pit gatherings by night, while inside, the elegant living room, well-equipped kitchen, and study nook offer a comfortable retreat. With Salamanca Place, Farm Gate Market, shopping precincts, and the waterfront all within easy walking distance, plus easy access to the MONA ferry, it’s the perfect base for discovering the best of Hobart.
Surrounded by blooming greenery, this peaceful sanctuary blends heritage charm with modern comfort. At its heart, a sun-drenched patio features a timber dining setting, gas BBQ and fire pit—perfect for grilling lunch in the sunshine or unwinding with a glass of wine beneath the stars.
Inside, the cosy living area is styled with soft furnishings, a curated bookshelf, a TV, a vintage-style fireplace, and a sparkling chandelier. The sunlit kitchen is fully equipped for home cooking, with an oven, stovetop, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and all the essentials. A Lavazza espresso machine with complimentary pods adds an easy start to your mornings. Nearby, the dining room carries through the rustic charm, featuring a wood-burning fireplace and a generous table made for relaxed, lingering meals.
The bedrooms are thoughtfully designed for rest, each featuring a queen bed and calming interiors. The downstairs bedroom features built-in cabinetry and warm lighting for a relaxed feel. Upstairs, the loft-style second bedroom features a skylight above the bed, bathing the space in natural light, along with generous shelving to keep your room tidy. The bathroom includes a walk-in shower and is stocked with fresh towels, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel for a comfortable experience.
The laundry room features a washer, dryer, clothes rack, and iron—ideal for longer stays. A quiet study nook beneath the staircase offers a cushioned chair and desk for journaling or remote work. Year-round comfort is ensured with central air conditioning and heating. While there’s no on-site parking, paid options are available nearby.
Please note: the upstairs bedroom is accessed via a narrow spiral staircase, which may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.
During your stay, you and your group will have the entire cottage to yourselves. Please make yourselves at home!
Nestled on a quiet residential street just under a ten-minute walk from the heart of Hobart, the cottage offers the perfect base to explore the city on foot. In just five minutes, you can reach local favourites like The Standard for American-style burgers, Rod Thai for casual street-style fare, and the Shamrock Hotel for pub meals. Wander down to Salamanca Place for its bustling Saturday market, boutique galleries, and waterfront dining, or stroll through Battery Point, known for its heritage charm and quaint cafés. The MONA ferry departs nearby for a day of river views, while the Farm Gate Market on Sundays is a must for fresh local produce. With theatres, wine bars, bakeries and the scenic Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens all within easy reach, this location invites you to experience the best of Hobart.
Due to local regulations, we can happily host you for up to 90 nights. Any bookings that exceed this duration will be cancelled by Vrbo.
