The house was in an excellent location, especially as we love to get to know a city on foot. The bedrooms were comfortable and the house was a great space for our family. Elizabeth was super to deal with.
We found the beds to be comfortable, a well equipped kitchen, adequate space for personal belongings and good location with nearby shops & restaurants.
The property had everything we needed for four days in Hobart. Conveniently located to the city with great local amenities. Get ready for a workout if you're walking as it's a hilly area.
The property itself is clean and comfortable with everything you need.
Instructions for checking out didn't specify anything for bedding or towels so hoping we got that right.

Hill St West Hobart.
The house itself is nice. It has 3 double beds with the slats continuing to come off the end bedroom bed. Therefore making a loud racket through the night creating a large dip in the mattress. There was also alot of dirt and an empty water bottle under that bed. The lounge suite is only made for 5 and there was 6 of us. Found a used covid tester on the floor next to the fridge. An easy 30 minute brisk walk to the centre but a really hard walk back due to the steepness of the area.

A disappointment
This house was a disappointment. It is in a great location, and is very clean, but it is kitted out in an extremely cheap fashion. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything going on in the house, regardless of where you are. The utensils/appliances are inadequate / extremely flimsy. The (plastic) potato masher collapsed when we used it for its intended purpose. We had to go and buy our own casserole dish as there were none provided. There is also no vegetable steamer, coffee machine or wine opener - which are usually standard in holiday rentals at this level. When I complained to the owner she was very quick to get new utensils delivered from Coles (the exact same potato masher!), and sent us some chocolates as well. That was nice, but if you want to self cater, and value some privacy, I would suggest staying elsewhere.

Response from VrboOwner on 29 March 2020
Hi Amanda, we are disappointed that you feel that way but do feel the need to respond to some of the statements you have made. We always encourage feedback from guests and do our best to make stays as enjoyable as we can but do not feel that your comments are accurate. When you emailed us during your stay to comment that you thought certain kitchen utensils were not working appropriately or there were items you required, we immediately arranged for new ones to be delivered and did so with a retailer that we could trust to deliver them within a period to ensure so you would have them for the duration of your stay. When we emailed you to advise that we would be having the utensils delivered, we never received any acknowledgement from yourself so just assumed that you were happy with them. You are correct to say there isn’t a coffee machine (which is not advertised, as is standard where a property has a coffee machine). During your stay there was a coffee plunger in the house and there is a fantastic café just around the corner from the house. We also provide a range of complimentary items for guests to enjoy during their stay, including tea, coffee and other condiments. We are not sure why you have commented to say there was no a wine opener, there definitely is and our property manager has verified that this was there during your stay. We have never had any feedback that the walls are paper thin in fact the majority of the house is brick and all the windows are double glazed so we were surprised to read this comment. Other than the masher being plastic we are not sure why you have suggested that the house is ‘kitted out in a cheap fashion’. All our furniture and appliances are of a high standard and most of our reviews received so far have suggested this. In saying this, as mentioned above, we always welcome any further feedback so we can continue to improve the quality for our guests stay in the future.
Short walk into town made the location convenient (bit of a hill back to the house). Nearby grocer was extremely helpful for any food or toiletries shortfalls.

Excellent location, has all the basics.
Dog flap for small dogs only and has some mould issues in bathroom otherwise has what you need.
Great place to base ourselves and our two furry friends!!
We found this better than our expectations and it was in a great location for first time visitors to Hobart!
Great pizza restaurant just a minute away. Stunning morning view of Mount Wellington on the daily walk for the best coffee at the Landsdowne cafe!
Easy access to the CBD. Loved it all.
This cosy house is in a good location for access to Hobart. The hill down to the city is quite steep for walking, but very doable if you have a little fitness. We had a small glitch when we first moved in but the host fixed it very quickly and we had a great stay. There is a lovely coffee shop just 250m away and a great restaurant even closer. There is also an excellent IGA and Post Office on the corner. We managed to park two 4WDs in the driveway next to the house, one behind the other - a little tight but not too much trouble to get in and out.
Property was close to everything including CBD but was a very busy street. We had a Landcruiser and parking was a real problem, even though off-street. Cars parked either side of driveway didn't help. Still, a nice property and clean. Lighting in main room could be improved, was quite dim.
We enjoyed our stay at this property as did our dog Buddy. The house is well presented with modern touches. There is a doggy door and a nice size yard. There is a convenience store (well stocked) and Italian restaurant nearby. The Hill St grocer is not far and is fantastic however you may require a car otherwise expect to get your steps up on the hill. A great holiday in Hobart and close driving distance to everything otherwise Uber readily available.

A little disappointing.
Unfortunately house wasn’t very clean when we checked in. Cleaners were perhaps in holiday mode. Little bugs/mites around the bathroom sink that kept coming back. Only 1 TV in entire house, would have been nice to have a TV in one of the bedrooms.
Other than than house is a good size, location very central, good heating and well equipped kitchen. Not too bad but room for improvement.
Great location if you have a car. We used this as a place to sleep - leaving early each morning and coming back late each night. Wouldn’t stay here if no car, that little bit too far out to walk to the centre. Easy check-in process.
We loved our stay at Hill Street. The house was clean and quiet and is in a great position close to the city and the fabulous Hill street grocer. We were four adults in three rooms and could not hear any sound from other rooms. We can definitely recommend this house as a great place to stay when visiting Hobart.
