Rewind, Reset and Relax at this unique and tranquil getaway. Beautiful converted 1928 Red Rattler Train Carriage in the heart of Windeyer and only 30 minutes drive to Mudgee. Unwind on the covered wrap around verandah and relax by the fire pit and stars at night. The Red Rattler offers 3 bedrooms with queen size beds sleeping up to 6 people. Each room has its own reverse cycle air conditioner, plus another in the living area. Fully equiped kitchen, dining and lounge area. We provide all linen and towels. WIFI is available and free. I have a lock box with the keys in it, and the location and key code will be sent via email about 2 days before your arrival. Guests have the use of the whole 7 acres that the Red Rattler is situated on. We also have a timbered blocked next door that is 14 acres. Plenty of room to explore, check out any wildlife or native flowering plants. There is also some very old remnants of a tin and wattle and Daub hut, that had been lived in up until, about 20 years ago. But please wear covered shoes whilst on the block. The block is sign posted with the entrance gate adjacent to the carriage. The Red Rattler Retreat is a truly unique short term holiday stay. The peace and quiet of the rural village of Windeyer will be enjoyed by all who visit. For those visitors who wish to spend time visiting Mudgee and our famous wineries, we now have a small 11 seater bus that can be hired with the driver, to take you where you wish to visit. Just call Kate to make any enquiries about booking. We also have a rustic silo bar to add to the rural ambiance and is a great place to watch the sun go down whilst enjoying a cold beverage and BBQ. The fire pit also becomes a great way to while away an afternoon and evening. We also have added a new swing seat / photo booth to take those memorable Red Rattler Photos. When you don't wish to BBQ or cook onsite, the local Windeyer Gold and Fleece Hotel is only 250m from the front gate and has hearty counter meals available Thursday to Saturday Lunch & Dinner, Sunday Lunch. The Bushlands Caravan Park General Store, is also only 280m down the road (next door to the Hotel), and has all your basic needs.

What a gorgeous place to stay. The train accomodation is so unique. The atmosphere is amazing. We just felt relaxed the minute we arrived. The outdoor setting around the fire is beautiful and we even got an afternoon visit from some kangaroos. Will definitely be staying here again.
