Our host was absolutely accommodating and reactive to our needs in a timely fashion. The home was beautiful, warming and accommodating.. Would recommend for a stay anytime.

Working heat in the ALL bedrooms. More than the “stater pack” of 2 rolls of toilet paper. Crack in upstairs shower floor pan, smells of urine of some kind in upstairs carpet. The 10 digit door code is unnecessary. It’s a nice cabin, just wish a few things would get dialed in. Depending on these recommendations will determine if we come back next year.

We’ll be checking the thermostat zones to ensure the bedrooms are heating consistently, addressing the upstairs shower pan, and giving the carpet a deep clean. We’re also reviewing our starter supply setup and entry code system to make the guest experience even smoother. We appreciate you bringing these items to our attention as we continue improving the cabin for our guests."

This a very nice house. It is on a lake, but doesn't really have a swimming area on the property. The use of the kayaks was a great option. We were able to do some fishing off the dock. The house is about an hour away from most bigger towns. We spent a lot of time in Alpena which had a great beach and splash pad. It was very hot while we were there. I thought that the house had AC, but it was only 2 portable units, one downstairs and one upstairs. They did not cool the house down, especially the bedrooms upstairs were very hot. But it was also 90 plus degrees while we were there. There was only one garbage bag, so that was tough the first day. We had what we knew we needed to bring, but thought there would be enough garbage bags to get us through one day with a large family and 2 kids in diapers. The house was fairly clean, and overall a very nice place to stay, Just bring garbage bags and fans if it is going to be hot.

Alpena sounds like a wonderful spot to explore, especially with the beach and splash pad for the kids. We are sorry to hear that the portable AC units weren’t quite enough to keep the bedrooms cool during the heatwave. We appreciate you letting us know for future awareness. Also, thank you for mentioning the garbage bag situation. It’s great to know that overall you found the home comfortable and clean. Very nice northern retreat cabin! Although a few issues to address!

Overall outstanding cabin! We had a great stay. The house was stocked with most all essentials - except TP!! A few issues we experienced was mice poop, under a pillow on one of the beds - which was not pleasant to wake up to. Also lots of flies coming out of the woodwork. One of the bedrooms upstairs the heat was never on, pretty cold! There is also leak from the upstairs shower pan, I think there’s a small hairline crack in there pan…it was dripping just above the bottom of the stairs…It’s apparent that leak has been there awhile with the numerous drywall patch jobs in the general area. Also the 10 digit door code is ridiculous. Don’t lock the lower knob- Otherwise you’ll lock yourself out. I did not have any communication with the property manager. Overall B- for a rating. We would stay here again! Thanks!

It’s good to know you found the home well-stocked and would stay here again– we’d love to have you back. That said, we apologize for the issues you encountered that detracted a bit from your visit. To clarify, while we do provide a starter pack of supplies that includes toilet paper, this is only to get your stay off to a good start and may not last through your entire stay. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused. Our team and the homeowner inspected the home the day before your arrival and it was clean. We truly apologize for the mouse droppings and flies that you saw and pest control will be contacted to remedy this concern. Regarding the heating upstairs, there are three boiler system zones controlled by three thermostats and the system has been simplified to have only one thermostat in the kitchen. A plumber did a complete inspection and found no leaking water from either bathroom or any other plumbing. A pipe in the heating system was found to be corroded and has been repaired. We are truly sorry for any issue you had with the 10-digit code and lower knob lock and the homeowner is looking to replace the door handle with a different style to address your concern. We truly appreciate your feedback as we are always striving to improve. We enjoyed having you as our guest and look forward to hosting you again!
