About this property
Private West Coast Lane House w/ Gardens & Hot Tub
Enjoy your visit to Vancouver in our newly built, private, West Coast inspired coach house. Completely separate from our main house, it has heated concrete floors, rich wood ceilings & high end finishings located in a quiet neighbourhood close to the best of the North Shore. Here to relax? You will enjoy our manicured gardens, private patio & hot tub, surrounded by everything you expect on your visit - nature, peace & privacy. Travelling with a family? We have all the essentials you’ll need.
Our peaceful and bright Coach House comes with a fully equipped kitchen w/ full sized stove, fridge & dishwasher, a full bathroom with shower/tub combo, heated floors, private access to a hot tub, a patio area to sit outside, 2 TV's, an automatic coffee maker with which to start your days, and full sized laundry machine and clothes dryer for those who might need to launder some clothes before or after another portion of your vacation.
Our Coach House has 2 bedrooms, both with firm beds - The first has an unobstructed view of Grouse Mountain and contains a queen size bed (no closet at this time), a 9 drawer dresser, black out blinds, and 50" TV. The second has 2 extra long single beds (also known as XL twins), a chest of drawers, closet and windows overlooking our garden and Grouse Mountain as well.
The main room of our coach house has a linear kitchen with the above noted appliances, and is fully stocked for all the cooking you might want to do on your visit. It has a live edge island where you can prepare you meal, and it also serves as a dining table to sit amongst your family. There is a couch for your kids to lounge on, and it's long enough to catch a nap or watch the 55" TV. The patio doors lead to your private garden, where you can relax and listen to the birds, have a hot tub or BBQ your next meal.
The bathroom is spacious and bright, with wood ceilings and a skylight to provide natural brightness. Enjoy free use of our laundry machine and clothes dryer, which is conveniently located directly beside the bathroom.
We also have a covered patio outside for those rainy Vancouver days. It has seating for 4 people, and is a great place to enjoy the sights and sounds of our garden, while being protected from the elements that Vancouver can often experience.
After 4 years of growth, our garden is becoming more mature, and a year round pleasure for you to enjoy. With a variety of plants, trees, shrubs and flowering perennials, there is seemingly always something that draws your attention. We also have hummingbird and bird feeders around the coach house for you to enjoy the local wildlife.
All this means you'll feel at home in our coach house, as we've carefully created a space that will make your time in Vancouver and the North Shore memorable. From the pictures by a local photographer hanging on our walls, to the skylights that give the space a bright and cheery feeling, the entire space flows wonderfully from inside to out, and it feels light, airy, and very peaceful.
** You should note that we do not have air conditioning in our coach house. We provide 3 fans during the summer months. One in each bedroom and 1 in the main room. In years past, there is only a short amount of time that Vancouver is hot enough to warrant air conditioning, however with global warming, it is possible that temperatures will be warm during your stay. If you require air conditioning due to heat sensitivity, then this coach house may not be the best option for you. **
You can get to our house by public transit, as there is a bus that runs along 22nd, which is 1.5 blocks away, and can take you to Lonsdale Quay (where you can transfer to the SeaBus and go downtown) or to Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain, both of which are about 10 minutes by bus.
If you join us by bus, you should also know there is lots of options for groceries, restaurants and retail stores along Marine Drive, which is no further than a 10 minute walk. It is down a steep hill that has 200 stairs, but if you are healthy and moderately fit, you can walk up and down the hill no problem. There are also loads of buses on Marine that can take you all over the North Shore and beyond.
Most guests join us with an automobile, and if you join us with an automobile, we have ample parking in our back lane for you to exclusively use. Feel free to park your car in the short alley that runs perpendicular to the main alley used to access the back of our house. From there you can unload and load your car with ease.
We live full time in the main house on our property, but you will not have to interact or see us during your stay. The coach house has private parking, private access, and as our gardens mature, they will provide a natural screen between the coach house and our main house. Access to the coach house is through keyless entry, and a code is sent to our guests approximately 3 days before their arrival.
That being said, everyone in our family loves to meet new people, and we love travelling, so if you need advice during your stay, you have questions about what to do or see, or you need something that we don’t have in the coach house, we can help you out at a moments notice.
We have a hot tub that is available for your exclusive use during your stay with us. We have it professionally cleaned and serviced weekly, so you can be sure you will be getting a clean tub with which to use. We also offer guests bath towels to use while getting in and out of the hot tub.
We have a lot of other creature comforts for your stay. An automatic coffee machine that makes excellent coffee and lattes at the push of a button. 2 TV's - one in the main room and another in the master bedroom. A fully stocked kitchen with most of the equipment you need to bake or cook. A school playground across the street so your kids can run around and get their beans out.
We live in the house that the coach house shares property with. We are a family of 4 that loves to travel and we look forward to welcoming you to this amazing part of the world. If you need something the coach house doesn't currently have, don't be afraid to ask us. We have everything you could need and would be happy to share it with you during your say. We want to make sure you have an excellent experience during your stay with us.
For the security of our guests and the safety of our home, we have 2 external security cameras. One is aimed at the parking area in the back alley, and the other is located at the entrance to the coach house.
**We have a strict cancellation policy for our Coach House. We highly recommend that guests purchase their own trip insurance to cover any issues or challenges with arriving in Vancouver and staying in our coach house. In this ever changing world we are living in, oddities can occur and we believe that the extra expense of ensuring your trip is insured should help mitigate unforeseen circumstances.**
